Pete Hegseth Announces That Manliness Is Permissible Again in the US Armed Forces

Pete Hegseth got up at 5am yesterday to do a little PT with the troops under his command.

Sean Spicer noted that Hegseth and Trump maybe want to draw a comparison between Hegseth and the "last two Secretaries of Defense" who "could not pass a physical."

Indeed:

petehegsethvslloydaustin.jpg

In addition to the great policy, the Trump Administration is pitch-perfect on imagery, stagecraft, and messaging. Trump is also pushing a much more positive message than I've seen from him. Yes, absolutely, he continues to savagely criticize the corrupt left. But the balancing message about what we affirmatively believe in is much stronger than in his first term or the campaign.

Doing calisthenics and deadlifts with the troops might not be a policy statement per se, but it certainly sends a strong message about what the military's priorities are now.

Personnel is policy. They're advertising to bring in the right people, who will bring in their own warrior-culture policies with them.

One might even say, without irony, "America is back, baby."

The military's new ads are slightly different than those run under the Absentee President. Compare the new ad on the right, showing a brawny guy deadlifting and announcing that "stronger people are harder to kill," with the Biden ad on the left, which promises that the US armed forces are the perfect place for a feminist to feel empowered and make her two lesbian moms -- yes! -- proud of her.

Sound crazy? Sure, but a judge just ordered Trump to post certain things on gov. web pages.

Under the radar the Left is playing this game where they are trying to minimize action by making any setback temporary and expensive. Biden restored the last tranche Trump-45 had discharged, with back pay. He did it just before his term ended, so they got a 4 year paid vacation. These legal cases are planting seeds with the idea that someday all those people will get big paychecks at the taxpayer's expense.

I mentioned in the last post that our military is simply not cost effective. I think the USA would have to give up after a few months of combat with a near peer because our economy would collapse.

We spend $800 billion a year for $300 billion a year of combat capability. While we can rightly complain of a lack of will, a lot of the lack comes from sticker shock.

Human trafficking is slavery. I am for this legislation.

It needs to include the Venezuelan, Colombian and Chinese governments as well.

And even if they only played it twice a day, if you drifted out of range of a station you heard one of THEIR two times a day. On a trip, that could be a lot.

392 In all seriousness, there was some speculation that the Army would enter into Northern Mexico to restore order, wipe out the cartels and then... remain. Creating a "buffer zone" of some undefined size (width) for the foreseeable future.

To wit; a specially outfitted USAF recon plane flew an "unconventional" mission around Baja Mexico the other day. This plane is typically used to gather intelligence on enemy locations, comms, disposition, etc.

It would be useful to locate cartel strongholds.
Posted by: Martini Farmer

All fine and good, but the cartels aren't all bunched up at the border. MX is struck through with different cartels. Knocking down the border rats just powers up the southern ones. It needs to be a total eradication through extra-territorial prosecution and judicial action; the US needs to set up courts outside of MX for legally intervening.

She was made out to be a hero because she was able to maneuver the ship so only the radio tower was destroyed but she was the one that changed the flight path. Also the radio tower being destroyed prevented the ship from calling back to Earth to warn about the asteroid.

Millions got killed when the asteroid hit Buenes Aires and hundreds of millions more died in the conflict.

463 BOING
@stillgray2h

The Department of Defense paid $32,000 to replace 25 coffee cups and hundreds of thousands of dollars for soap dispensers.

DOGE is needed.

“In October 2024, a two-year audit by the Defense Department Inspector General found Boeing overcharged the Air Force by 8,000% for soap dispensers that the service branch paid $149,072 over market price for. Of a selected 46 spare parts that were scrutinized by the audit, the report found the Air Force overpaid about $1 million for 12 of them for its C-17 transport planes.

That followed a 2018 congressional inquiry that revealed the Air Force was spending $1,300 for each reheatable coffee cup on its KC-10 aircraft – and then replacing them instead of repairing them when their handles broke. Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, found the Air Force spent $32,000 replacing 25 cups.

She dumped him for her career and banged another dude.

Cutting out the obvious banging of another dude was all Verhoeven could do to soften the audience's distaste for her.

His interpretation of it, though, is weird. In the commentary, he attributes it to general prudishness of Americans not wanting to see sex, seeing the acceptance of Rico and Diz having sex as a hypocrisy. It wasn't that. It was the dumping.

I'll be introducing the "Cartel Marque and Reprisal Authorization Act of 2025" which would authorize
