Representative Nancy Mace, the South Carolina Republican who in recent weeks has floated a run for governor, on Monday night accused her former fiancé and three other men of having drugged and raped her and other women, and of filming and taking lewd photographs of women and underage girls without their consent. In a stunningly graphic speech on the House floor that had little precedent, Ms. Mace said the men, whom she named and displayed photographs of on a placard where lawmakers more typically display charts and graphs on policy issues, were involved in the "premeditated, calculated exploitation of innocent women and girls in my district." "You've booked yourself a one-way ticket to hell," she said, referring to the men directly at one point in a speech that lasted close to an hour. "It is nonstop. There are no connections. So I and all of your victims can watch you rot into eternity." On the floor of the House, Ms. Mace was protected by the speech and debate clause, even as she accused the men of repeatedly assaulting incapacitated women and filming it. The clause provides lawmakers immunity from criminal prosecutions or civil suits, such as for slander, when they are acting "within the legislative sphere." Ms. Mace offered no evidence to support the accusations, although she said she had plenty of such material. She refused to answer any follow-up questions from reporters outside the Capitol on Monday night and did not respond to a separate request to provide corroboration. The New York Times has not independently verified any of the allegations. In a statement not long after Ms. Mace finished speaking, Patrick Bryant, the former fiancé whom she accused by name, denied her account. "I categorically deny these allegations," he said. "I take this matter seriously and will cooperate fully with any necessary legal processes to clear my name." Ms. Mace has long made her personal trauma part of her political brand.

There have been instances of authorities effectively coercing women to drop accusations through threats of investigation/prosecution though. I saw an interesting documentary a while back that covered some troubling cases.

I'm kind of a "believe all women" guy, except I would make exceptions for politicians and celebrities. They may have ulterior motives.
Now, some women are just crazy, and the things they say are not always believable, but in those cases, there's a foundation of trauma (the real kind), which contributes to their inability to separate truth from fiction (including lying), when it comes to sexual assaults.

1) Why is she talking about this NOW, when it's not news, and so much else is going on?
2) It seems kind of scummy to use that platform to defame people, rightly or wrongly, when she knows she's immune from being held accountable for it, if she's full of it.
3) She spoke of having gained access to the evidence, spotting herself among the subjects being filmed, but didn't say how she managed to get that access.
It's a horrific thing she's claiming, but it's not justice when you're only hearing one side, and that side has free reign to say whatever the hell they want.

Most women have an odd story to tell. They don't always share. There is a question of shame, of self-blame, of thinking reporting is going to hurt your career, your privacy, you life in general. The assault can convince a woman to lock it all up, and never say a word. Eventually, it starts to really make a mess of one's life. Sometimes that's when women get brave.
And yes, there are the occasional jackwagons who lie and say idiotic things, but they are really a tiny minority. They are the ones who make it even harder to speak up.

Part of the problem is people misplace the wounds. They think there was a "clean" exit wound. There's a lot to it, too much to detail here, but the evidence would suggest the shooter was somewhere close to level with Kennedy's head, and the round was closer to a 5.56 type.

I have a good friend, super religious, went through a divorce and to try and salvage the marriage, did an insane amount of counseling.
Her narrative was because she had sex at certain times with her husband and she wasn't really into it, that was a form of rape. And none of the Evangelical church counselors ever pushed back that it was a ridiculous narrative.

You just have to watch the Zapruder film to see THAT. You see JFK leaning forward, having been shot in the back first, then BLAM! - his head jerks back, and the back of his head is blown out.
A piece of lead moving at high velocity cannot possibly make the object it hits jerk TOWARDS the direction it's coming from - it could only push its target AWAY from the direction it was fired from. That high school physics (conservation of momentum).
So he was shot from behind, and then the kill shot came from the front (where the infamous "grassy knoll" was). Had to be at LEAST two shooters, and you don't have to believe some conspiracy kook to see it for yourself.
There's a guy who credibly confessed to taking the kill shot (found Jesus, that sort of thing). Said he took the shot because the other members of the team failed to hit JFK in the head, assuring the kill.

I was blown away by this last night. It gave me a bunny-boiler vibe.
Immediately after the speech, SLED (SC Law Enforcement division, sort of like a state FBI) acknowledged they had been conducting an investigation of her charges. They only mentioned the one name, her ex-, Bryant, and not the other three names she mentioned.
That's been going on for about a year. And no charges yet or anything public yet.

During the MeToo movement, feminists decided to change the definition of rape.
So now someone who was pressured in to having sex with her boyfriend or husband is in the same category as a jogger who was tackled on a run and forcibly raped.

The official story would require Oswald to be running down the stairs at the same time the manager of the building, along with a Dallas cop, were running up the stairs.
Unfortunately, several witnesses (including said manager and cop) place Oswald in the break room at the time.
As far as witness testimony? I agree, it's usually pretty inaccurate. Here, no witnesses place Oswald in the sixth floor, but several do place him on the first floor in the breakroom.
But that's not what I base my opinion on -- I base my opinion on the actions of the government / key actors after Oswald is arrested. And the actions of the Warren Commission, and how they intimidated witnesses and changed stories, etc.
Which points squarely at one culprit: the CIA.

I'd say "no," as a matter of public policy. How can any third party determine the circumstances of a given sexual encounter between people who (presumably) have sex regularly?
It's an invitation to use the legal system to settle scores and/or get the upper hand in a divorce/custody situation.

What's easier for people to understand than the Kennedy assassination. The claim is that there is information in those files that would still be problematic even if released today. Since we are talking nat sec info from 80 years ago it isn't technology, individuals or methods so you really have only two answers
1) The US government was involved

Part of the problem here is that most women want to be pursued, and what counts as boorish really does vary by situation and demographic. The line between pursuit and pressure is awfully thin in places.
Had a female friend when I was younger who referred to some boots she owned as her "knock me down and fuck me" boots. Presumably, she would have objected to most men literally knocking her down and fucking her. But her phrasing still conveyed some sense of what she was trying to get out of that outfit.

I doubt there is anything of much value in those files. I can't imagine that the CIA would leave any smoking guns lying around.
The House Select Committee on Assassinations already said it was "probable" that there was a conspiracy to kill Kennedy way back in the 1970's.
But it would be great if they did find something.

But another part of it is that the way you interact likely changes quite a bit.
