Not sure I see your issue. Some of the fingers are bent, some aren't in a fairly normal pose/position.

Although, with those big long fingered hands, Our Lord could've been a great football quarterback or basketball player.

That's the realistic starting point for any peace agreement, period. Nothing short of that would bring Russia to the table.

How much land is going to be the big question. Preservation of Ukrainian military strength independent of NATO will be another. There are a lot of details to work out.

I think there will also be talk if American involvement in recovery/reconstruction efforts as well. To that end, I could see some involvement on our part, given that this thing is partly our fault, and it's definitely our fault it got this bad - but not if one thin dime goes to a government headed by Zelensky and his crew.

I suspect that's part of the reason he hasn't been invited, and why he's appearing so strangely intractable.

The new Republican leader is from Miami, and he’s making a lot of noise in support for illegal immigration. Ditto the Florida congressional delegation. They are apparently angling for some type of amnesty in the immigration bill.

One of the reasons is that Intel's new laptop chips are proving to be quite strong and laptops shipments have outweighed AMD's strength in the fading desktop cpu races.

Intel is also now competing in video cards by targeting with better price/performance than AMD or NVIDIA have done.

The major question mark for INTC is the progress of their foundry operations or whether to spin them off as AMD did years ago.

But, Intel looks better on at least two fronts (laptop and graphics) even though their Xenons are losing market share in workstations and datacenter clusters.

Not really important as local governments (or even state governments) may not discipline employees for assisting federal officials in their duties. That ruling came out of Missouri after Missouri passed a state law forbidding local and state leo's from cooperating with the ATF. Federal judge ruled against Missouri. While the federal government may not commandeer local officials directly to do its bidding (leaving aside using grants, etc.), local governments and states cannot forbid nor punish their employees from cooperating.

Hoover was not a particularly good president and was somewhat unlucky that his talents did not match the central problem of the Depression.

In some ways, the GOP would have been better off losing in 1928 to Al Smith, governor of NY. Smith would have had to deal with the Depression but Smith disliked the radicals that FDR adored. Probably would have created less harm for the US going forward than FDR did.

He just took office 9 months prior and it was his treasury secretary that convinced him to not interfere and let the banks fail. Which was crazy because it was one of the main reasons the Fed was created. I think Hoover wrote in his memoir that it was one of his biggest regrets. Even Milton Friedman believed not using the Fed and allowing the banks to fail was a main cause of the subsequent depression that turned Great.

307 We once adopted a very pregnant cat off the streets and my father named her Mary Magdalene “for her obvious sin” but we called her Maggie. I’m not sure, but my mother had a sister who went by Maggie and I always suspect this was a dig from Dad regarding his SIL.
