Pet Playtime Cafe

Mondays am i rite

Senior dog finishes the race last but gets the biggest applause.

Cat wants you to chase him. It's a dog-like play-bow.

Donkey likes his rabbit friend.

Beach cat.

Noon in Antarctica.

Dog owners pretend to fall unconscious to see if their dogs save them. They don't. In fact, one draws a knife and cuts his owner.

These pets are going to have to start observing the five-inch-door-ajar rule.

"Owls are just cats with wings."

Cat ghostie.

Jealous dogs.

Cat decides to play with cat toy, but, of course, not the way it's designed for a cat to play with it.

Red panda plays with his red panda stuffed toy.

Swimming cow.

Swimming bat.

Whatever you're doing, dogs are interested and want to be involved.

If you're excited, then dogs are excited. They don't even know what's supposed to be so exciting. But they know they want to be part of the celebrations.

Inman:

Moped thieves face ramifications (that is, being rammed, hard, by a Good Samaritan Driver.)

A machete-wielding lunatic faces more ramifications, and then a spirited session of Street Court.

Highway thief gets hard-checked by the car he intended to rob.

Cars don't even need drivers to take out scumbags.

7 Someone mentioned engineers in the last thread and I thought it was important to remind everyone that next week 16-22 is National Engineering Day.

If you encounter an engineer in the wild you should hug them vigorously. They won't like it because they're socially inept dorks. But that's the rule. National Hug An Engineer Week really. And it's no accident that it follows Valentines day. Just take any residual amorous feelings you have and fully dump them into any passing engineer.

I'm going to guess this was anticipated, and perhaps soon we'll see a combination of reverse-judge-shopping and/or some statements of outright defiance. Once "our" side is on the inside (by approved nominations or good firings/hirings) then all of this should be easier.

Those DC J6 judges who ignored or "adjusted" the Presidents pardons/decline-to-prosecute decisions should be served. Charge them with something.

51 The “experts” say deflation is bad, and the only possibility therein is a choice between Grapes of Wrath, or modern monetary theory. Naturally they are lying.

The ordinary course is that over time, things get less expensive. Not more expensive. They don’t want you to know that. Most people probably don’t. Even their “Target” rate of 2% annual monetary inflation means your currency or savings loses half of its value every 20 years. This is a hidden tax on savers and investors. Wages do not keep up, have not kept up, in fact have been stagnant since the 1970s. The fact that the dollar is the “reserve currency” for the world is what has allowed the national government to run $36 Trillion in deficits.

And, get right down to it, all the nonsense the DOGE team has uncovered. The money is fake, but the debt is real. All of the nonsense of the past 50 years, the stupid wars, foolish spending, none of that is even remotely possible in a sane economic system.

81 Deflation isn't "bad." It just takes a long time to happen. In the meantime, since economics tends to follow the path of least resistance, unemployment is generally the consequence during the lengthy time it takes for deflation to take hold.

I said in the last thread that there was a political decision made to manage inflation in lieu of unemployment. The mistake made though is expecting monetary changes to drive growth at the margin, which it really doesn't do.

The President fired biden's director of the Office of Govt Ethics and made Doug Collins the acting director.

The Office of Government Ethics negotiates with Cabinet nominees on their ethics agreements so that they can abide by conflict of interest laws. It also collects financial disclosures from thousands of federal government employees.

Huitema, a lawyer who previously worked in the State Department, was confirmed to a five-year term in December, during the final days of Joe Biden’s presidency. The vote was 50-46, with no Republican support.

Doubtful. He's already stated that he is going to do this until Independence Day 2026. He does have a few other things going on.

It shouldn't be necessary. The Judicial Branch has zero authority to regulate the activities of the Executive in how it carries out its duties. The meddling of a couple Obama and Biden appointed judges is not really unexpected given how corrupt they are and the vast amount of corruption they green lighted during their time in office that is being exposed right now but they have zero basis in law.

These cases will either get slapped down or we no longer have a real country.

------------
From the web:

Tennessee Valley Authority CEO Jeff Lyash, who is the highest-paid federal employee with a compensation package of $10.5 million per year, announced on Friday that he was retiring 11 days after President Donald Trump returned to the White House. Trump was highly critical of Lyash's "ridiculous”"pay and vowed to fire him.

Although TVA doesn't depend on federal tax dollars for day-to-day operations, it is still subject to federal oversight through Congress and various federal agencies. This oversight includes environmental regulations, energy policy, and financial audits.

Lash is not the only TVA employee making high wages, with chief financial officer John Thomas raking in $6.3 million a year, chief operating officer Don Moul earning $5 million, general counsel David Fountain making $3.3 million and chief nuclear officer Tim Rausch taking home $3.3 million, according to a November report from the Knoxville News Sentinel.

While TVA does not typically receive annual appropriations from Congress for its operations, Congress can authorize funding for specific projects or changes in TVA's structure or mission. Historically, there have been periods when TVA received federal funds for particular initiatives.

My guess is this will end up before the SC and not something as dramatic as disbanding or disbarring. Trump's legal team has already started appealing but the will likely lose at the appellate court level given the makeup of the courts and the magnitude of what is going to be exposed. So it will end up at the SC.

But this is basic Constitutional law. Trump isn't trying to make a power grab over Congress or even do anything remotely outrageous. All he's doing is exercising his Constitutional responsibility to provide oversight over the branch of government he is responsible for. All histrionics aside this is pretty basic stuff, it's only unique in DC. And courts should have zero power to interfere.

Aiding and Abetting Illegals is a felony. Aiding Terrorists, is a Felony.

US Aid money is going to both... thus knowingly restoring funding to either, is a felony... and thus this Judge has created an illegal order... one which under the My Lai Massacre precedent, the President should ignore.

I was excited for the movie. Horror film. And Madeleine and Violet McGraw, sisters in real life, were playing sisters in the film.

Violet was the star of "M3gan" and Madeleine won a Chainsaw Award for her role in "The Black Phone." And she was amazing in Disney's "Secret of Sulphur Springs."

They're the nicest kids. Sweet family. So I was really excited about the movie.

It was alright.

Appropriately, for black history month, we had the wise elderly black people helping to fix things. Whoever does movie threads here could make a post on wise elderly blacks to save the day movies.

I used to watch comedy kids shows because I didn't want to be pissed off all the time. Moved to the worst horror movies I could find...because life.

Now, I just don't care about anything.

You know what...maybe "The Great Courses."

I'm just tired.

Oh, flipping through PlutoTV, "Dance Moms" is a freaking horrible show. But Mom and I followed Lilliana on Instagram years ago. 'Dancing Girl.' Taking college courses at 15 or so. But horrible show.

I think that is a break glass in case of emergency move. I don't disagree that what we've been living through has been lawless but I think the decision will carry more weight with the public if it is done by the courts rather than giving the left the weapon of calling Trump a lawless president and doing the inevitable impeachment dance again.

The reason they picked the judge in RI for this case is because he's given over $500,000 to Sheldon Whitehouse and other Democrats. He bought his judgeship. I'm sure the others who have ruled on this are similarly partisan because there is no law in their rulings. It's just bullshit. And the idea that district courts get to make national rulings is something Clarence Thomas has been itching to take a swing at.

Trump is enjoying his best approval ratings ever and he's moving like a ninja, I'd rather see his lawyers deal with this crap in the courts and let him stay above the crap for now.

Trump is maneuvering the Democrats to right where he wants them. The Dems are currently hiding their motives Behind Civil Service unions and state AGs in their lawfare. They'll have to come out in the open with their objections to cutting the crap Elon is finding, when Trump submits his FY2026 Fed Budget with none of that stuff. That budget will be released before the end of March. Then the UniParty will have to fish or cut bait. What the UniParty will no doubt try is forcing another Continuing Resolution on Trump, carrying-over all the crap for another year. Interesting times are ahead.

Fox Corp. expanded its reach into the growing podcast market on Monday by scooping up Red Seat Ventures, the digital media company whose clients include former Fox News stars Megyn Kelly and Tucker Carlson.

The deal represents an investment in an area of media where personalities such as Carlson, Kelly, Piers Morgan and Shawn Ryan reach millions of subscribers via podcasts and streaming shows.

Musk is consulting. Its new so he's more hands on at the moment, but that will be passed on.
He understands what can be done like few others, and he finds and hires young techies who can do it. He reviews what they are finding and makes it public.
Shortly, these.young guys will continue on without the constant oversight. They are fast learners.

Supposedly, DOGE can only operate for 18 months.
In the case of DOGE, Trump clearly had a team of lawyers looking at ways to accomplish this goal legally.

USDS was already there and funded for the specific purpose.

44 USCS Chapter 36 is the law that facilitates much of USDS. It is generally about developing tech for the government. This means that focusing on efficiency and evaluating the entire government through the lens of the IT that runs it is not really substantially altering the agency - just its focus.

At the same time Trump also wanted to bring in Elon Musk (and, at the time, Vivek Ramaswamy) and his team for an initial major audit/clean sweep.

To do this Trump referenced another law 5 USC 3161. This law governs the creation of and staffing for what is known as a “temporary organization” in the government.

This group will focus on pushing the DOGE agenda and will exist for 18 months (though their work will survive).

========

Trump can and probably will include establishing a formal DOGE Agency in his upcoming FY2026 Budget.

Posted by: Gref at February 10, 2025 09:52 PM (aBgBM)

267 By including this group as temporary, Trump dodged several potential lawsuits as he may not have been able to create his own new administrative entity on a permanent basis without Congressional approval.

Trump also ordered that DOGE teams be hired in every administrative branch agency.
These teams are to include a team lead, a lawyer, an HR person, and an engineer.
These teams work for USDS (DOGE) but work with and within various agencies.
While all this is part of a “software modernization initiative,” looking at the software and how things are managed is a great way to find out where there is waste - particularly when part of the mandate it to ensure efficiency.
The last part of the post is all important boilerplate.
Trump orders all agencies to support the DOGE initiative, disclaims any other prior EOs that could interfere with this order, and makes a conflict of laws statement.
This was further insulation to make this harder for political opponents to fight in court.

Secretary Duffy was administered the oath of office by U.S. Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas at the U.S. Supreme Court and was joined by his family. Upon arrival at USDOT headquarters, Secretary Duffy’s first act was signing a memorandum directing staff to start the process of resetting Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) standards, which will ultimately lower the price of a car for American consumers and eliminate the electric vehicle mandate."

That in itself would be telling. There are actual laws about government retention of records. Ask Trump.

I don't think government destroying government data will be a big win for them now.
