There is an urgent need of a mechanism to block/nullify/dismiss these obtrusive judges from interfering where they have no standing. Having to do appeals, etc is too time wasting. My proposal: judge wanting to block something presidential has to get a USSC writ for permission.

In January 2024, the person I was renting a room from decided to terminate lease, as per the agreed upon terms, and at month's end I wound up sleeping in a recliner at a friend's home, in what I knew due to circumstances was not a long term arrangement. This January history repeated and it was time to go. I've been living out of hotel rooms for the last week and funds are running out. I have no further remaining support network in this area.
Bottom line, it's time for me to move on...I'm just not sure where. (And the "how" is a little sketchy no thanks to recent medical expenses and the hotel rooms.)

What started as a peaceful protest turned bloody when a teenager was stabbed in Los Angeles on Friday after a group of students walked out of school for the fourth day to protest immigration policies set forth by President Donald Trump.
Footage taken by Sky5 over downtown L.A. showed at least one of the brawls that broke out and the aftermath of a stabbing, including the bloodied victim, in front of City Hall.
“I came to the protest, and there was a guy that came up who wasn’t even a part of the protest, and just shanked a dude,” a witness named Will told KTLA. “I got it all on my camera and I just walked over, I told them to apply pressure, cut up some shirts, wrap them around him so it would stop the bleeding.”
By 1:49 p.m., the LAPD confirmed a Hispanic male had been stabbed at Grand Park, outside City Hall. He was transported to a local hospital, where he remained in critical condition as of Friday evening.
Around 5:20 p.m., LAPD revealed that the victim was a 17-year-old male. Officials did not immediately confirm whether he was a student.

I'm just a little iffy about eggs. When I was a teen my home got egged by neighborhood assholes and I had to clean it all off. It's weird, but ever since, I was turned off by the sulfur taste & smell. As long as I don't overcook them, thats generally not a problem. I am not sure why a legit conservative would not be concerned about 2A, the left roaches on that right every time they are in power, but Republicans often do nothing when they get the chance to push back. This isn’t about Trump. It is about the reality on the ground in the states. Every survey has shown that a large majority of Americans, despite being vastly in favor of illegal immigrant deportations, would exempt DACAs.
It's poor optics, and IMNSHO, unfair. There are ways to handle the problems that would be created by exempting DACA from deportation, like disallowing chain migration, or allowing those over 12, say, to return after reaching majority. Something that's fair to kids who had no say in where they lived to remain without opening a route to more illegal migratiin.

I don't think Trump or his people expect the EO on birthright citizenship to hold up. The idea is to push this, "have a conversation".
A law passed by Congress might have a better chance of holding up to the SC review, but an EO won't.

Virginia always had legal open care and we are very proud of that. We were one of the first southern states to enact shell issue concealed carry, but we were after Florida. That was in the mid-1990s and that was the high point for Virginia. Since that point it has only been losses on the 2A front. There might be conservatives here that don’t care too much about it, but I promise you the lefties who oppose you do care about it.

I agree about the Overton Window. I also agree that a new law changing birthright citizenship in the way Trump's EO attempts to do would likely be upheld.
Getting Congress to PASS such a new law seems like an extremely heavy lift, bordering on impossible.
If the public knew about the Chinese birth tourism industry, there could be a groundswell of support for a new law, though.

The key 14th Amendment phrase is "subject to the jurisdiction thereof". It's clear, from the original context (what they actually said at the time) that this was about the freed slaves, to prevent any state from trying to deny them citizenship.
It was not about aliens. Congress has the power to, via statute, clear up the meaning of subject to the jurisdiction thereof.
Now, you'd need 60 votes in the Senate to do that, most likely.

Reading DataRepublican, it's a difficult (meaning time consuming) task to actually verify that an address is really bogus, and not a false bogus.
She says a good percentage of good addresses will be flagged as invalid by software attempts at this, and the only real way is for an individual to look it up, and put eyes, even with Google Maps on the address.
I don't know the issues involved here, but this is some problem the geniuses need to solve. Automate this task to get a reliable high speed way to do it.

Thats what pisses me off the most. It used to be where immigrants used to kiss the ground when they got here. They realized it was a privilege. They bent over backwards to learn the language and fit in. When I was doing kitchens and baths I was in a different house every week. I heard countless stories from 1st generation Americans how their family that immigrated checked their birth country at the door. Native language was forbidden, it was english or nothing. These days immigrants are a joke, they come for a meal ticket, don't give a flying fuck about American culture, language, customs, whatever. Another unfortunate side-effect of this Reckoning of the money-laundering schemes. A lot of legitimate, clean charities and non-profit types are getting caught up in the dirt web of money flow.
This was really by design. The grifters and CIA dirty tricks squad types embedded their dirty asses in this charity and non-profit "ecosystem" if you can call it that.
And they do give dirty money to the clean charities, who have no way to really know they're getting a little chunk of change from some CIA coup funding slush fund.
It's unfortunate, and that's something you have to be careful about.

Yup, my family is from Italy. My grandmother was born here, but went back to italy when she was 1 year old. My father's older brother and sister were born in italy, my father and his younger sister were born here. English was not their first language, but they immediately learned english, and to this day there is zero, and I mean ZERO trace of an italian accent when they talk. My grandmother demanded it. They are still fluent in italian, but growing up I remember my aunts and uncles in their 20's and there was zero accent even that early. I would have bet a million dollars my father's first language wasn't english.

They are a mechanism by which the popular will is supposed to be imposed on the government. Candidates take positions on how they intend to operate once in office, and ideally these positions reflect what they'll actually do.
That hasn't been the case for a while, hence Trump. His signature issue is the elimination of the invasion. But the invasion is just the consequence of our renegade governments' desire to escape our authority over them. So he also had to run on grinding them into dust.
Kamala was the candidate of compassion for foreigners and letting DC do what it wants. Everyone knew she would be a puppet like Biden before her. And the majority of the country chose Trump because we all recognize that the (recent) old ways simply cannot continue. The defeat of the Left must be total. They cannot keep their influence in our government. They cannot continue to steal from our tax coffers. And they cannot keep their army of new voters.

Yeah that kinda sucks. When my grandmother came back to America in 1938, she was allowed to take my father's older sister with here, who was 2 years old, but not his older brother, who was 5. Mussolini came up with some law that kids that were born in italy to dual citizenship Americans were free to leave unrestricted if they were born after a certain date. My uncle missed it by 1 year, so he had to wait a year and come with my grandfather. I guess it was assumed if you lived in italy for a certain amount of time you were considered italian. I sometimes wonder if ultimately that's what they'll do that for kids born here that have been here for years and years. Not a free pass, but something a tad more painful than what legal immigrants experience.

It is funny to realize that the country of Italy as we know it has only existed since 1855. And certainly way past that point there were tons of different dialects. It is pretty cool that what is considered to be modern Italian was basically from a tiny area but even more so from a specific book. They all know the Italian that the guy on the news speaks, but even today they have their own dialects that they speak to each other.

Just the other day, I said not shopping at Costco is pretty much a bad idea if you’re trying to harm the company. The only real play is to not have a membership. That is how they make their money. Yeah italy is all over the map as far as dialects go, even food. It got shittier the farther north you went. The worst pizza I ever had was in Florence. The funny story was told to us by the neighbors in Uganda. Both English. They were on leave in the UK (1960s) in a small restaurant/pub and wished not to be overheard so had their whole dinner conversation in Swahili. After a couple of hours they paid their bill and as they got up to go their waiter said, "Sante sana Bwana, Memsahib, kwaheri" with a big grin on his face. Yes, he was fluent having been raised in Kenya.

I'm sitting in a plane at Heathrow, waiting to take off. I have been to London probably 20 time in the last 6-8 years. The food scene is excellent, in particular classic pub food. I think you will be surprised by the quality!

I used to get really good Chinese in Chinatown in London, but I also used to get really good falafel and Shawarma in the Paddington area. People talk about how London has changed and so on and so forth, but I have to be honest about my own experiences. I met a lot of people in the Paddington area originally from Pakistan and they were some of the kindest people I ever met in the UK.

Way back in the mists of time, when retail theft was frowned upon, a common tactic was to fill the winter coat of a small child with goodies (batteries, film, etc). Even if caught they can't do anything to the kid.
However, and I can't emphasize this enough, the kids don't keep the merchandise. We need to restore the status quo ante.
