If we really get down to it, I think what drives some people is the desire to feel like they're better than everyone else. They're special.

Whether that's from being powerful, rich, or famous -- it's the most important thing to them in life.

Many come from broken homes.

Not sure where I'm going with this, but yeah -- sad life. You'll never win that game. There will always be someone richer, more famous, more powerful, better looking, etc than you.

We don't need to wait for that - now that it's been identified we'll keep tracking it, plus there are a shitload of old photographic plates where we can check to see if it appears somewhere in that image, and those historical observations will help refine the orbit even further.

I used a spread sheet and some pretty clever data tricks to find evasions and omissions, but I had to enter data by hand. They have a system that will gulp the data down and sort it out, and if it can find anomalies away from what is expected, it is even faster. finding the routing between shell agencies doing the laundry is fantastic, it is the sort of thing that used to be done by a talented accountant with a nose, and that is not scaleable.

AI (in the pre-hype "machine learning" sense) is very, very good at large scale pattern recognition.

The 150GB is the public data stuff. You know name of the NGOs, how much money, etc.

Now, processing that is finding the flows. Build a graph of which and how much money flows.

It took DataRepublic about a day of processing, using 48 CPUs (virtual, this some distributed cloud based VM thingy, I think) to run that.

The issue isn't that US taxpayers' money is used to fund works etc. overseas [it's fine to be against that and want it ended of course] but that the money was laundered through real and phoney charities to affect domestic policy in leftists' favour, funnel money back to the DNC, enrich allies and staffers, affect foreign governments and elections etc.

Most recently was under President Clinton’s “National Partnership for Reinventing Government” and most famously in 1941 under Then-Senator Truman’s “Truman Committee”.

Interesting that historically BOTH previous efforts at DOGE were Democratic led.

Also important to know that with very little money, specifically less than $7M over 7 years, the Truman Committee saved the USA $10-15B. These are 1941 dollars. Adjusted for inflation, the Truman Committee saved USA almost $250B of today’s dollars

I think it does. IANAL, but sanctions are done on foreign entities. I don’t think the U.S. gov can sanction its own citizens. US citizens have to comply with sanctions on foreigners, but any action against an American would require due process.

Yeah, I saw that. It’s something like an EC2 m5a.12xlarge instance. Which sounds about right for crunching 150gb of data and building a graph, then tracing edges, looking for patterns among the nodes. I’ve done the same on very large datasets.

Mostly doesn’t need AI. Normalizing names is one of the more tedious tasks, and there are some ML algorithms you can use there.
