Posted by: Braenyard - some Absent Friends are more equal than others _ at February 06, 2025 07:46 PM (QP3yt) If we really get down to it, I think what drives some people is the desire to feel like they're better than everyone else. They're special. Whether that's from being powerful, rich, or famous -- it's the most important thing to them in life. Many come from broken homes. Not sure where I'm going with this, but yeah -- sad life. You'll never win that game. There will always be someone richer, more famous, more powerful, better looking, etc than you. Stories have long been told of children kidnapped by penguins.
Unsuspecting toddlers are lured by this mephitic menace's waddling walk to a lemming-like march back to their frozen quarters where the tykes are held hostage to demands for anchovies and world domination. Parents in some countries tell their children "A wise man never follows a penguin". Other parents are seemingly unconcerned, as seen in the above linked video. "Pull this thread," a senior official warned, watching DOGE's algorithms crawl through USAID's databases, "and a lot of sweaters start unraveling."
The resistance was immediate—and telling. Career officials who had barely blinked at Treasury's exposure now worked through weekends to block DOGE's access. Democratic senators who had ignored other moves suddenly demanded emergency hearings. Former USAID officials flooded media outlets with warnings about "institutional knowledge loss" and "diplomatic catastrophe." But their traditional defenses crumbled against DOGE's new playbook. While bureaucrats drafted memos about "proper procedures," the young coders were already mapping payment flows. While senators scheduled hearings, pre-positioned personnel were implementing new transparency protocols. While media allies prepared hit pieces, DOGE's algorithms exposed decades of questionable transactions. Posted by: SMOD at February 06, 2025 09:11 PM (GITLP) 266

>> mm = millimeters. What does it stand for after $110 ?
SHould be "MM" = million. MM is common in finance for a million. M comes from Latin, Mille, meaning 1000. By this logic, MMM would be a billion (short scale) but I don't think that's used much. The SI prefixes are mostly Greek, but Latin is thrown in a bit. milli-, centi-, and deci- come from the Latin for 1000, 100, 10. DataRepublican is doing the exact same thing with that tool she built to track the money flow form the *150GB* of public record it took to do that. All the info is public, but no one person could possibly process it all. She's also using AI to find the connections. Stuff like: Okay, we have a public list of names of the principal officers of the "nodes" of this particular money flow. Now, let's find the connections between these people. Political, social, business, etc, connections. Again, without AI and super high speed processing, that would be an impossible task. SEN. BLUMENTHAL: "It would be one thing if we had some disinterested, impartial, objective business person, highly successful, looking at ways to make our govt more efficient & save money.
========= Why didn't Congress or a President do this before now, Dick? Could it be for the same reason you're squealing now? Disinterested? Impartial? List a few candidates acceptable to you and Schemer, Dick. The DC Establishment would scream and squeal about Jesus Christ doing a forensic audit of the Executive Branch. Party's over. DOGE has existed twice before
Most recently was under President Clinton’s “National Partnership for Reinventing Government” and most famously in 1941 under Then-Senator Truman’s “Truman Committee”. Interesting that historically BOTH previous efforts at DOGE were Democratic led. Also important to know that with very little money, specifically less than $7M over 7 years, the Truman Committee saved the USA $10-15B. These are 1941 dollars. Adjusted for inflation, the Truman Committee saved USA almost $250B of today’s dollars Posted by: Braenyard - some Absent Friends are more equal than others _ at February 06, 2025 09:57 PM (QP3yt) 349

Posted by: Piper at February 06, 2025 09:51 PM (pZEOD) I think it does. IANAL, but sanctions are done on foreign entities. I don’t think the U.S. gov can sanction its own citizens. US citizens have to comply with sanctions on foreigners, but any action against an American would require due process. Posted by: Disinterested FDA Director at February 06, 2025 09:57 PM (l3YAf) 351

The cracks began showing in unexpected places. A career EPA director, tears streaming: "Everything we built..." A USAID veteran, hands shaking: "They're inside all of it..." A Treasury lifer, closing his office: "They move faster than we can think."

Nancy Mace reveals that $10 MILLION worth of taxpayer money was spent on creating transgender mice, rats, and monkeys. I have no words… === "USAID helped fund Melania Trump's Be Best program and Ivanka Trump's Women's Global Development and Prosperity Initiative during the first Trump term. And each woman traveled with the agency on separate trips to Africa, where they praised the investments it was making on the continent. Ivanka Trump travelled with then-USAID administrator Mark Green to Africa in April 2019, where they met with women entrepreneurs in Ethiopia and rural cocoa farmers on the Ivory Coast. USAID oversaw $265 million per year in spending Ivanka Trump's women's business initiative and an associated antipoverty program." -- UK Daily Mail I doubt either program spent $10-million on similar research. It took DataRepublic about a day of processing, using 48 CPUs (virtual, this some distributed cloud based VM thingy, I think) to run that.

Which sounds about right for crunching 150gb of data and building a graph, then tracing edges, looking for patterns among the nodes. I’ve done the same on very large datasets. Mostly doesn’t need AI. Normalizing names is one of the more tedious tasks, and there are some ML algorithms you can use there. Posted by: Disinterested FDA Director at February 06, 2025 10:04 PM (l3YAf) 360

You paid for this [burning riot photo]... USAID funneled $27 million to Black Lives Matter through the Tides Foundation. Ted Cruz @tedcruz 6h USAID secretly poured uncountable hundreds of millions of dollars toward Hamas, including tens of millions of cash they could never account for. Throughout the Biden admin, they knew the money they were pouring into Gaza would benefit Hamas. They did it anyway. Posted by: andycanuck (5LoD7) at February 06, 2025 10:07 PM (5LoD7) 362
