Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | FBI Stops #Resisting Trump's Order and Turns Over List of Agents Assigned to Political Persecution of J6ersFBI officials were threatening to resign or simply refuse to comply. No wonder they wanted to keep the information secret. The FBI under the Criminal Wray and Merrick Garland devoted one seventh of its entire workforce to tracking down the J6ers and putting grandmothers in jail for years. One seventh. If one seventh of the organization can be detailed to political persecution, seems like the FBI could afford to lose one seventh of its staff. CNN:FBI officials have complied with demands to provide the Justice Department with a list of thousands of employees who worked on investigations related to the January 6, 2021, US Capitol riot, according to people familiar with the situation. The demand has caused consternation among FBI employees who fear it is meant to amass a list of personnel for possible termination by the Trump administration. Acting Deputy Attorney General Emil Bove, in a Friday memo with the subject line "Terminations," had given FBI officials a noon deadline Tuesday to submit the names of thousands of agents and analysts. Bove previously ordered the firing of eight senior FBI officials, including those who oversaw cyber, national security and criminal investigations. More than 5,000 names were submitted, sources said. There are more than 13,000 agents and 38,000 total FBI employees.Ed Morrissey comments: The mind boggles at the concept that one-seventh of the FBI workforce went into investigating a riot at the Capitol, for any period of time. Was it worthy of investigation? Absolutely. Should violent protestors have been charged and prosecuted? Absolutely. Should every seventh employee of the only federal law enforcement and counter-intelligence agency have been dedicated to that purpose? Come on, man.Sorry this post is late. I realized I had a doctor's appointment fifteen minutes before the appointment and had to run just to get there late. Update: Nine FBI agents are suing, arguing that they shouldn't have to obey the orders of the duly-elected president. They want to hide the names of the J6 persecution squads. Moreover, the complaint asserts, since being pardoned by Trump, "leaders of the January 6 riot and others have tagged FBI agents who worked on the investigation and prosecutions of those rioters." The complaint notes that "Violent threats against FBI agents who have carried out lawful orders in relation to January 6th or subsequent investigations have been a consistent problem for the FBI for years." The plaintiffs further assert (citing "credible press reports") that they anticipate a "mass, unlawful termination of Bureau employees who had any involvement in certain investigations related to President Trump, including Jan. 6 cases, and the lawful search of President Trump's residence at Mar-a-Lago." They reference a questionnaire directed to certain FBI agents regarding their work related to J6. Ultimately, plaintiffs assert that they believe Defendants "intend to publicly disseminate the names of those employees who responded to this survey, and/or those employees who the Defendants plan to demote, transfer and/or terminate based on this survey, and/or publicly disseminate employees' responses to the survey questions outlined above." They request that the court enter an order prohibiting the DOJ and the federal government from disseminating their personal information and rescind what they refer to as "unlawful termination orders."

The civil "service" is not the military -- you do not want blind obedience to questionable orders.
The system is set up to give them outrageous rewards and also massive pensions. They have great incentive to do what they are told. It is to the country's benefit to put some fear into them that "just following orders" comes with some risk and they had better not get partisan or political because there may be consequences. I've been waiting for this. The current clambering from the "rank and file" FBI is that they are terrified. They are "worried about supporting their families", "if they get fired, they'll never secure another law enforcement position".
Two things: 1. Heads on spikes, baby. It discourages future acts and bad behavior. These are valid repercussions for just going along with the ideological program. 2. It's relevant that the "rank and file" are spewing out their lament by noting that they won't be able to support their families. That's relevant in that the FBI rarely hires a single individual. They purposefully hire married family men, because they know it is easier to control those individuals based on the very thing they are complaining about now...."how will I support my family." Is there any part of the Federal Government that hadn't become a Leftist grift, weapon, or both? The Marxist Left, or Obama if you prefer that spelling, were so close to obliterating the USA as we know it. Another four years of them unchecked and the nation very well would have been beyond recovery for decades if not permanently.
By luck or divine hand the first 8 years of Trump were necessary preparation for what is now happening. He is proving to be a singular President at this critical time. As for the singular team he has assembled - if you had to pick a war cabinet it would look a lot like them. May this young team of political warriors learn the lessons of the next for years well; their experience will be critical in cementing the changes in place over the next decade or more. I mean, they certainly don't have to worry that armed federal swat teams will bust through their door at 4AM. After they blocked his camera and knocked down his door the argument the ATF made is Malinowski shot first. The evidence? The two agents that shot him claimed so. Note in several recent cases the government has allowed defendants to argue that if the police did not sufficiently let the defendant know they were police that firing first is an acceptable response. Imagine having a no-work/no-show job overseas. Earning tax free bloated federal gov. wages and living in 5 star accommodations, all on an expense account. With your family, also all paid by Uncle Sugar. Maids, private schools, sometimes a driver. Often paid travel for vacations from not-working to wherever you want to go. All meals paid on expense account. Do that for 25 (or whatever) years and retire on golden pension. 25 years of vacation followed by pension, augmented by "consulting" pay. Back when we watched Schoolhouse Rock, wasn't there a thing called Presidential "impoundment" i.e. the Executive didn't have to spend all the money allocated?
Posted by: Zek at February 04, 2025 06:12 PM (5FPX4) There was such a thing. No longer: The Impoundment Control Act of 1974 was passed as Congress felt that President Nixon was abusing his authority to impound the funding of programs he opposed. The Act effectively removed the impoundment power of the president and required him to obtain Congressional approval if he wants to rescind specific government spending. President Nixon signed the Act with little protest because the administration was then embroiled in the Watergate scandal and unwilling to provoke Congress. I've no idea who thought it a good idea to allow the FBI that kind of freedom when raiding the residence of a former president but, it reads to me like, "Hope for something to happen." I know the claim was, "SOP" but raiding a former president's residence is far from "SOP." But eggs should have a fairly flexible supply. Many eggs should be going to "egg products" that can easily be stored or shipped. If fresh egg supply drops, Macdonalds or Nabisco buy their dried egg from overseas. So disrupting the supply 10, 20% should not cause such high prices.

413 Interesting. I wonder if that's ever been subject to serious Constitutional challenge on separation of powers. The fact that can't Congress arrogate powers of the Executive to itself isn't cured by a particular Executive "consenting" to give away Constitutional powers that aren't his (institutionally) to give away.
Posted by: Zek ====== Yes, see Panama Refining case aka Hot Oil case where Congress gave FDR the power to declare what interstate transfer shipments of oil were priced too low for the NIRA industry guidelines. Using JW Hampton as precedent (both are still good case law btw), the Court ruled that Congress MUST give an intelligible principle that limits executive discretion in its legislation so as to allow courts (and others including Congress) to determine if an executive is exceeding their powers. Was J6 over investigated? Yes, but let's try actually understanding these numbers. 5,000 agents were not assigned to the investigation, 5,000 agents worked on the investigation. It was not their full time job. Worked on means covered even one lead, interviewed one person, talked to one neighbor, traced one blog post, etc. The actual way to figure out the %age of the FBI's manpower used in this investigation is to have someone ask for the Time & Attendance (T&A) numbers for the investigation(s). When an agent fills out their T&A, they put how much time they spend on any case, so if an agent was working say healthcare fraud but got told to go interview one person for the J6 investigation, they might have worked 99.999% of their time on health care fraud over the last 4 years and .001% on the J6 investigation but still be counted among the 5,000 who worked on the J6 investigation. The T&A number will be misleading because supervisors do not enter time based on cases, however it will be much closer to the real number than assuming 5,000 agents worked solely on the J6 investigation for 4 years.
