Liberal-As-Shit Fake Republican Bill Cassidy Votes in Favor of RFKJr. in Committee
Plus: The Case for RFKJr. and MAHA

He had threatened to vote against RFKJr., supposedly to "protect Trump" from backlash against RFKJr.'s vax hesitancy.

Cassidy views Trump as an idiot and a weakling in need of his guidance. Just as he views all of us

But he's up for re-election, and Vance explained that simple fact to him.

U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D.
@SenBillCassidy

I've had very intense conversations with Bobby and the White House over the weekend and even this morning. I want to thank VP JD specifically for his honest counsel. With the serious commitments I've received from the administration and the opportunity to make progress on the issues we agree on like healthy foods and a pro-American agenda, I will vote yes.

The Polymarket betting site now says that -- given Tulsi getting support from Susan Collins, etc. -- that RFKJr., Tulsi Gabbard, and Kash Patel are now 97% likely to be confirmed.

In case you don't know, when Kennedy talks about "chronic disease," he's contrasting chronic disease -- long-term, slow-moving health conditions -- with acute diseases like an infection or flu or something conventionally treatable. Simple obesity is a major "chronic disease," which causes a lot of serious conditions, like hypertension, heart disease, diabetes of course, and even cancer and Alzheimer's.

You might or might not object to calling obesity a "disease." Fine. Call it a "persistent adverse health syndrome" if you want to fight over semantics.

The medical community is focused on curing acute diseases, and is often very good at doing so. But it focuses very, very little on chronic diseases, and the theory goes that if we could "cure" chronic diseases, or at least ameliorate them, we'd avoid a lot of acute diseases.

Obviously, for example, type 2 diabetes is now rampant when it used to be rare. No one can seriously question that reducing the obesity rate will reduce the diabetes rate.

It's critical for the government to fund studies into preventing or curing chronic diseases. Big Pharma's answer to them is always something they can sell, like Ozempic. I don't call that a conspiracy or anything -- it's just that Big Pharma sells pills, so all of their research goes into making pills that they can sell.

That's not evil or anything. Just self-interest.

But it winds up being the case that there are no funders for any studies that don't involve, down the line, a pill that can be sold to the public. For example, there are very few large, long-term studies into dietary interventions like intermittent fasting or keto. Why? Because you can't sell intermittent fasting or keto in a pill. There is no product at the end of the development pipeline. The treatment is free, only the research costs money.

So people have to beg, borrow, or steal money for studies into these non-renumerative interventions, and what winds up happening is that people dismiss their findings, because they only ran a study with 40 people and they were only tracked for three months, not for (say) five years.

You've proven nothing, they say. You need to run a study with 1,000 people tracked for five years before we'll concede you've made your case, but here's the catch, we won't give you the money for that study. Eat it, losers.

Here, take another pill.

It's cases like this where the government must fund the basic science, because literally no one else is doing it.

RFKJr. will direct the HHS into focusing on these areas of research. Big Pharma will continue spending tens of millions on making new, exciting pills. They don't need any help doing that.

But for the boring stuff you can't make money on, HHS will do the studies.

@VigilantFox

RFK Jr. Shocks Dem Senator Into Silence With the Brutal Truth About U.S. Health

"President Trump has asked me to end the chronic disease epidemic and make America healthy again... and that is what I'm doing.

"And if we don't solve that problem, Senator, all of the other disputes we have about who's paying--whether it's insurance companies, whether it's providers, whether it's HMOs, whether it's patients or families--all of those are just moving deck chairs around on the Titanic.

"Our ship is sinking. Our 60% increase in Medicaid over the past four years is the biggest budget line now, and it's growing faster than any other. No other nation in the world has what we have here.

"No other nation has a chronic disease burden like we do. We have the highest chronic disease burden of any country in the world. During COVID, we had 16% of the COVID deaths in a country where we only have 4.2% of the world's population. We had a higher death count than any country in the world.

"And when the CDC was asked why, they said it's because Americans are the sickest people on earth. The average American who died from COVID had 3.8 chronic diseases. This is an existential threat--economically, to our military, to our health, and to our sense of well-being.

"And it is a priority for President Trump. And that's why he asked me to run the agency. And if I'm privileged to be confirmed, that's exactly what I'll do."

Conservatives who object to RFKJr. need to explain: Who else could Trump nominate who would promote MAHA?

Name a single Republican that conservatives approve of with this passion for the subject.

You can't. There aren't any. Republicans have long, long been corporatists. They don't like people coming in to tell the corporations that buy them off that maybe Red Dye No. 3 actually causes cancer and, given that there are plenty of alternatives (and given that there's no need for a "food" to be artificially, intensely red), you should stop certifying Red Dye No. 3 as "generally regarded as safe" (GRAS) for including in food.

Note that Biden's FDA did finally recognize Red Dye No. 3 as a problem just before Trump took office.

The Vigilant Fox
@VigilantFox

REPORT: The FDA has finally decided to BAN Red Dye No. 3, based on serious concerns about cancer.

This stuff is often in your candy, frozen foods, gummy vitamins, and dairy products like strawberry milk.

It was once deemed a "conspiracy theory" to think that the dyes in our food could have detrimental effects on our health.

But like other "conspiracy theories" that turned true, the truth could not be ignored forever.

"This ban was LONG overdue," remarked epidemiologist @NicHulscher
.

"Unfortunately, the other synthetic food dyes that have also been linked to serious deleterious health effects still remain on the market. A few months ago, I summarized the harm linked to synthetic food dyes -- outdated FDA standards expose Americans to toxic food dyes linked to cancer, neurobehavioral issues, and other health risks, demanding urgent regulatory action."

He added, "While the FDA has finally made a decision that will benefit public health, they are still allowing the dangerous COVID-19 genetic injections to be administered to all individuals aged 6 months and older despite far exceeding criteria for a Class I recall. The immediate removal of unsafe and ineffective gene therapy injections should be the first priority before any other product bans."

Anyone opposed to RFKJr. is de facto opposed to MAHA, because there are no alternatives. I guess Thomas Massie talks about stuff like this a little, but we are down to a 2-seat majority in the House so no, we can't take him out of Congress and put him in charge of the HHS.

Not to mention that RFKJr. is a major magnet for disaffected Democrats and by giving him this post -- which we usually don't care about all that much; Republicans never care much about the HHS -- we take a major step towards cementing the new political realignment.

When I heard that RFKJr. might endorse Trump, I didn't believe it. Surely Kamala Harris would give this dog a bone and secure his endorsement.

But they didn't. They spurned him. They're so vax-crazy they couldn't offer RFKJr. some kind of symbolic posting to secure his support.

When talk of an endorsement intensified, I was worried: RFKJr. will demand some kind of major leftwing concessions, and Trump would agree.

But RFKJr. didn't demand major leftwing concessions. He wanted to promote MAHA, which I was actually in favor of and wanted Republicans to start taking seriously anyway.

Then I thought there's still no way this will go through, because his running mate -- a left-liberal California tech industry woman who I think might be Asian or something -- will go along with it. She'll go into Ultimate Karen mode and blow up any deal.

But actually, she's like... #Based?!!?

Even after they said they'd endorse, I expected that endorsement to be half-hearted, crabbed, and full of caveats.

Instead, they were both very supportive of Trump and MAGA. RFKJr. and Shananan have been more supportive of Trump and MAGA than 50%+ of all "Republican" Senators. If we can tolerate them, we can't tolerate these two?

And our shitbag liberal Republicans bring about zero voters into the coalition, while these two bring millions.

This is such a good deal for us. We get a lot and we give up very little. Like I said, HHS in Republican Administrations is usually led by some empty gray nobody. A president just puts whatever Congressman who just lost a seat into the job just to keep him from being unemployed.

RFKJr. and Shanana are demanding almost nothing for their support. In exchange, we get a policy position we should have adopted anyway because it's right, and also get maybe 5% of disaffected Democrats to join us.

And people are turning their noses up at this deal?

Ozempic is the perfect example. I know several overweight friends and family members that did nothing for decades to lose weight. Too much work, too much effort. Much more fun to have that second serving of pasta. But Ozempic? They couldn't wait to get their hands on that, as if it was some magic talisman to ward off fat cells.

Sure, there's popular pressure on things.

But immigration is a whole lot more important to voters than who runs the HHS.

And Congress has been awarded for stewardship over a crumbling immigration system for decades through re-election.

Why doesn't that popular support for limited immigration lead to Congressional action? It's important to a majority of the public. Why should this be different?

Hint: It's not. These people don't care about what the people say they want. They care about a well-funded challenger. They care about money opposing them. In a regular environment without Shanahan and Musk, they'd do what they want and get away with it because Go Team Red.

Now, looking at millions of dollars being promised to primary challengers? That's the change. It's not popular support of Trump.

73 Ace - if eating right and exercise is not the answer - and note, I never said it was an easy answer - and if a pill is not the answer, then I don't understand what government-funded studies are supposed to find.

Eating right is hard - most adults have to train their body to stop eating all the crap they have been eating all their life. It's akin to kicking a drug habit.

Exercise is hard. But even walking a good amount everyday can work wonders for your health.

But in the end, we as a society have said that it is okay for companies to sell us alcohol, tobacco, and junk food.

That stuff comes at a price. It's up to each individual to kick those habits. Otherwise, live with the consequences.

Plus big Pharma would have to reorientate themselves at significant cost to "fit into" a more healthy America. And, again, there's not a lot of money in MAHA when you get right down to it.

What if he didn't badger you about food choices, but just got rid of all the food additives no one ever studied, that were there not for any reason but to make bad food more addictive...the fake colors, the fake flavors, the fake preservatives...

We don't know if those additives are fueling our epidemic, but they have exploded over the last 25 years...and so has our chronic disease epidemics. It would not be a surprise that a large portion of the population is low-level allergic to those never-tested non-food additives, thus causing overactive immune systems that then lead to chronic conditions...

149 I for one think that Kennedy was genuinely shocked (in a good way) by the readiness with which Trump supporters embraced him after his endorsement, especially if you think back to his first onstage appearance with Trump. And it's very possible that that led him to examine other parts of the MAGA platform and decide that he could either get onboard with them or at least not make a fuss. Politics makes strange bedfellows, but they don't always stay strange.

150 The red dye #3 ban is hilarious. Food labels appear in quantity order. So read the label of any highly processed food and you'll have to bypass high-fructose corn syrup, hydrogenated vegetable oils, bleached flour, sodium stearoyl lactylate, polysorbate 60, etc. etc.in order to get to "artificial color", which is at or very near the bottom.

High-fructose corn syrup is the number one health hazard to Americans, directly causing the obesity epidemic, heart disease, diabetes and cancer. But they can't ban that. The farm lobby won't allow it. Same with harmful vegetable and seed oils and overly processed flour.

Congress and the corrupt FDA are under orders to protect these industries, so they manufacture a culprit, the very visible red dye, ignoring the fact that it only appears in microscopic quantities in food, while the FDA testing of the dye using massive quantities in order to get the bad results they wanted.

It's like a man walking down the street who gets hit with a falling piano and having the coroner blame one of the C-sharp keys for killing him.

219 I don't think it's any one food, or any one additive, or any one dye that's causing our obesity and health crises. I think it's the following:

1. Endless "snacking." When I was a kid, we had three meals a day. Period. Maybe on a Saturday night we were allowed some popcorn while watching a movie. But otherwise, if we wanted potato chips, the answer was "LOLGF."

Now, kids "snack" all day long, and it's always on garbage junk food. Big Snack has brainwashed parents into thinking endless snacks are necessary.

2. Too many people sit on their fat asses all day. Humans need exercise to be healthy, no matter what they're diet is.

3. No more fat shaming. Some people probably think it's totally ok health-wise to be fat.

221 The main thing plaguing us health wise are that we consume more calories than are required for our given output.

Couple that with the typical American diet being sh**y and it’s no wonder chronic disease and obesity have risen dramatically in the last 60 years.

255 Thanks to the 1997 rule, the FDA doesn't even know when companies use new additives...this one was a fun "FAFO" by a "health food" company...

Some companies may not do any safety review at all, and simply start using the chemicals in food without considering the risks. While this practice is illegal, the FDA has no way to compel companies to demonstrate that they conducted an adequate safety review before using the chemical, so enforcing the requirement for a GRAS review is extremely difficult.

For example, there is no public evidence that the ingredient tara flour was determined to be GRAS by experts before it was marketed in “crumbles” sold by Daily Harvest. That product was tied to a devastating outbreak in June 2022, when 393 people were sickened, and 133 were hospitalized, some with permanent organ damage, after eating the Daily Harvest products. While the FDA was unable to confirm what caused these adverse illnesses definitely, it identified tara flour as an ingredient of interest. Had more work been done to test and vet this ingredient before adding it to foods—and had the FDA been notified or petitioned for approval—this mysterious outbreak may well have been prevented.

I think both sides of that argument are correct in some way.

Yes, HFCS is chemically similar enough to natural sugar that it's not inherently, as a substance, better or worse for you.

And yes, HFCS is easier to store, distribute, and incorporate into a product, so that far far more of it gets ingested than otherwise would have.

Ace, try London Broil. I picked up some last week at Safeway, regular price $7.99/pound but marked half-price so $3.99/pound. Cheaper than hamburger. I marinated it all day (lots of recipes online, mine was essentially olive oil, a bit of balsamic vinegar, soy sauce, some herbs, garlic, and lemon juice). My husband grilled it to medium rare and it was absolutely delicious.

Slice it across the grain. You could make this and have it for several days. It was just as good the day after as the first day.

Fruits and veggies spoil a lot faster then a pre-made bag of stuff in the freezer. Its also generally more expensive though not outrageously so, but real "problem" is cooking from scratch or semi-scratch does take longer.

The end result tastes better and is healthier, but again, I am allocating more time to cooking and shopping then I did before...

303 Yes, HFCS is chemically similar enough to natural sugar that it's not inherently, as a substance, better or worse for you.

******************

This is complete bullshit and Ill tell you why

the real sugar takes longer to digest, your blood spikes but over a longer duration and the digestive process is more gradual

HFCS spikes your blood instantly and digests more rapidly. This is the primary difference and why it differentiates from normal sugar and exacerbates health diseases like diabetes

So chemically they may be similar, but its how theyre digested that is the cause of so many health issues

HFCS needs to be banned, full stop

310 Sen. Cassidy (RINO-La) suffers from ED (Electoral Dysfunction).

He's up in '26, in a ruby red state. That means conservatives can (could) mount a primary challenge against Cassidy, WITHOUT having to worry about losing the seat to a DEM in the GE if they do.

Cassidy is differently situated than Tillis (Rino-NC) in that respect. If Tillis lost a GOP primary, there's an excellent chance the seat would be a DEM pickup. Not so with perpetual-pain-in-the-adz Cassidy.

Cassidy knows all this perfectly well. Charlie Kirk, head of Turning Point USA Action (TPUSA), the GOTV outfit, has already spoken publicly about finding a primary challenger to run against Cassidy.

So... until 2027, I very much like Trump's chances of getting Cassidy's vote whenever he really has to have it.

326 > never, ever use the microwave

Here's my steak process:
Buy a never frozen 1.5" to 2" thick, high quality steak.
30 minutes or so before cooking, take it out of the fridge.
Salt generously, add some pepper, add some garlic powder to both sides.
I get a cast iron pan ripping hot on a propane grill.
Put the fat strap on the cast iron pan for 45 or so seconds
Sear both sides of the steak, 30 seconds at a time, for two minutes in the fat juices from the fat strap
Put in a meat thermometer.
Put it in an oven set at 185F on a pre-warmed pan
Flip every five minutes until you hit your desired temp. I prefer about 132F.
Let the meat rest for about four minutes.
Cut across the grain and put some nice large salt flakes on the pieces.

Viola, you've got a steak that rivals John Howie and cost 1/3 to 1/2 as much.

Susan Collins backs Tulsi Gabbard confirmation. Typical. She's "concerned," but once again she folds like a cheap lawn chair.

Susan will lose her next election. We should be looking for a good candidate now. It’s one of our best opportunities for a pickup.

Gabbard being confirmed will be the greatest national security threat this country has ever faced. We won't have any national security. Voting to put a Russian asset in charge of the nation's secrets is treasonous. Every single person who votes for her should be arrested for treason.

When National Security secrets get sold by Trump and America's weaknesses get exposed, Trump will point the finger at Gabbard. He will say he never should have trusted a Democrat. Trump walks away with the money, Gabbard and the U.S. take the fall.

Maybe it's time to admit this country sucks. How many elections are we going to think this country is going to do the right thing? They elect Collins in Maine, Cruz in Texas, every asshole in Florida, and fuck the fly over country.

442 BurtTC, I am so sorry to hear that your son passed away. I remember you mentioning how he would get on the bus for his work program every day, waving goodbye, and what a pure and lovely heart he had, full of love. May God rest his soul, and bring you comfort.

443 Doing that took her 48 CPUS running in parallel for 12 hours, and used 150GB of data. That's how obfuscated this whole thing is. Again, I knew it was bad, but I had no freaking idea....

The real scandal is that so much horsepower was required not so much for the complexity of the data set.... but the size.

445 A sedentary lifestyle is contrary to our design. Like using a cordless drill as a hammer.

We are designed to fill our bellies, seek shelter, hump each other, protect ourselves and our offspring, and maybe read smart military blogs on the toilet on a Sunday afternoon.

All else is noise.

Then we need labor increasing devices. A few months ago I used a frying pan lid from a small pot as a water dish for a cat that they can't knock over easily, its also excercise. Carrying a staff or walking stick uses a surprising amount of work on the upper body on a stroll.

Yeah, I really want to know where the money for the $50 Million in Condoms for Gaza was really going... no F'n way it was actually going for Condoms... and I really want to know if this is an ONGOING line item... ie has money been spent on this crap in the past, and where did IT go.

The first step to winning back young people is explaining to them what the hell is going on in the chaos of the Trump admin and explaining what we can do about it. @AOC just did a great job of it on instagram live but we need a lot more people doing just that on all platforms every single day. Trump is a fire hose. We need to be a tsunami of content.

461 "Big Pharma's answer to them is always something they can sell, like Ozempic. I don't call that a conspiracy or anything -- it's just that Big Pharma sells pills, so all of their research goes into making pills that they can sell.

That's not evil or anything. Just self-interest."

I'm sorry but fucking no. The primary big Pharmas have been engaging in OBSCENE amounts of fraud in terms of faking up studies and failing to disclose things to regulators (who, if not captured, are usually just fucking retarded)

They are capital-E evil. Once or twice might be a mistake. Doing it for 20 years while faking an entire industry for "anonymized patient data" and bribing governments/paying off mouthpieces with faked qualifications to censor critics as "misinformation" is not an accident.

467 Another treatment that the pharma and govt doesn't want to release is biome replacement. Yes, poop transplant. It works for IBS, and a host of other expensive to treat ailments. It has been used in animal husbandry for decades.

But pharma and FDA won't release it until they can find something to patent. Imagine the losses if all those sick people with tummy troubles to autoimmune problems were suddenly well.
