Beyer was joined by fellow Reps. Very glad I never achieved any level of success in life to the point where I was able to look at human beings as anything other than fellow people, as men like Mitch McConnell have.
When you achieve these heights, rather than maturing and becoming reticent for your faults and sins, repenting for them and searching for ways to try and reconcile yourself with those you have wronged and giving honor to your Creator, instead your life becomes a series of trying to deny your sins, gaslight people into naming a bridge in your honor, and preparing your justification speech you plan on delivering on the day of judgement. Mitch McConnell had in his power the ability to relieve the burden of the people, promote a peaceful existence throughout the world, stand against the slaughter of the unborn, battle degeneracy, and promote truth and righteousness. Instead he opted for personal enrichment. There will be much to answer for. Posted by: Wowzers at February 04, 2025 11:20 AM (IcDn5) 127

My wife used to watch CBS Sunday Morning every week. The segments were largely human interest stories, and any politics were fairly mild (they might have an interview with a politician, but the interview would then be some aspect of their lives, and not politics).
That changed a while back. In an interview with Russia Today, Putin stated “Nothing has changed. They were happy to carry out any order from Washington under Biden.” “They just don’t like Trump,” he continued, adding “They forgot him actively, really interfered in political life, in the election process of the United States. And then they were confused when Trump suddenly won.” Putin further declares that the political elite in Europe “mentally liked Biden more,” “But Trump has better ideas about what is good, what is bad, including in gender policy, in some other issues, they kind of don’t like it,” the Russian president asserted. “But I assure you, Trump with his character, persistence, he will restore order pretty quickly,” Putin stated, adding “And all of them, you’ll see, it will happen quickly, soon, all of them will stand at the master’s feet and gently wag their tails.” Posted by: Wowzers at February 04, 2025 11:30 AM (IcDn5) 200

Posted by: Rollover with honor at February 04, 2025 12:03 PM (URPBf) All high-clearance vehicles will roll more easily than a low-clearance vehicle of the same size and mass. I'm old enough to remember when 60 Minutes ended the show with "Point/Counterpoint" - a short debate between Shana Alexander and James J. Kilpatrick. I don't remember much of the actual segments, but it was enough of a touchstone that it was parodied in both Airplane! ("I say, let 'em crash!") and Saturday Night Live ("Jane, you ignorant slut!")

I used to enjoy "60 Minutes", until they did an article on something I knew a lot about. And I saw the lies, the distortions, the omissions, the snarcasm, the blatant "well, he didn't lie, but he didn't tell the truth either." I couldn't watch them after that, total loss of credibility.

Dan Rather would soon be out of a job at CBS. George W. Bush became president. And the prestigious '60 Minutes' was no longer prestigious.
Minor point... President George W. Bush was already President at the time. He was re-elected in 2004 despite the "60 Minutes" hit job that year to try to help John Kerry. Posted by: Clyde Shelton at February 04, 2025 02:40 PM (P5BPp) 467
