There's nothing much else to say at this point. I mean, when you sacrifice you're own little white girls on the altar of multicultural diversity both while crowing about diversity's success and covering up the actual rape/murder perpetrators, blaming all 'Asians' (like it's the Thais and the Philippinos, too). Then the government's heavy-handed reprisals against those who protest against the goverment/muslims, in real life and on line. Very sad.

Don't know if Farage is the answer to Britain's problems, but I don't think he can be any worse than Labour or Conservative are. But who knows? Endeavor (Todoroki's dad) *was* an abusive psycho. His redemption arc is one of the main reasons I've kept up with the show. He's a genuinely three-dimensional character in the sense that he changes gradually over time, and is sincere in his desire to make amends for his past abuse. And it's not an easy path for him; it's a much greater struggle than any villain he fights in the show. He's actually one of my favorite characters because of his commitment to fixing what he's broken.
But yeah, to the original point, Todoroki's far from a psycho. He just starts out as cold and distant, but over the course of the series he becomes friendlier.

I'm not 100% up-to-date with the MHA anime, and I haven't read any of the manga, so I wasn't sure how far his "redemption" arc had gotten. I remember seeing him realize that he had done so many terrible things in his pursuit of being a hero and surpassing All-Might. I saw the attempt at a reconciliation dinner with his kids, but I recall that the dinner went about exactly as well as one could expect between some of the injured parties. I'm glad that he kept up with trying to do better, though. You don't always see that kind of thing in a lot of media, where an abuser actually, genuinely turns the corner.
You're right about Todoroki initially seeming cold, though. It was fun to see him open up after a while. I enjoy seeing character arcs like that, too.

The simplest explanation is the helicopter pilot incorrectly identified the trailing CRJ instead of the leading CRJ as the plane to avoid and didn't know there were two CRJs landing.
If I was a military helicopter pilot with evil intent and I was being trained to fly VIPs, I wouldn't use my one and only evil card on a random commuter plane.

The very FIRST thing I thought of when I heard the conversation between ATC and the helicopter was it seemed a little vague. Like duuude, *puufff* do you see that plane man?
Are you fucking kidding me? There are a shit ton of planes in the sky there, why the hell didn't he give the pilot a reference point, like do you see the plane coming in from the east, or west, or whatever frigging direction it from coming from. Even something simple like to your left. I'm not even sure if anybody talked about that. No heading, no direction, just yeah dude do you see the plane. I think that was a major fuckup.

I totally get people not being into anime, it's definitely a thing of its own. There's one anime, called Erased, that I wish had been done as a live action mini-series so my mom would watch it. The plot of that thing is fantastic, I'm not even sure how to describe it. It also doesn't generally rely on/use a lot of common anime tropes and such.

Air traffic controller goes home early. Leaving one controller for two screens that are feet apart. And at the same time technicians start working on the radar and the phones while this guy is trying to handle aircraft.
While he was trying to hand off one flight, those two planes were approaching each other. Both planes had TCAS. DHL followed the TCAS commands, the Russian plane followed the controller's commands. Mid-air resulted.
One man lost his entire family in that tragedy. He found the name of the controller, where he lived, and then stabbed him to death.

Commercial aviation still uses good old fashioned amplitude modulation on VHF for radiotelephone comms; same mode, same band for 90(?) years. (They also use HF SSB, when flying over the ocean, and digital modes for ACARS, VDL2 and ADS-B.)

Commercial aviation still uses good old fashioned amplitude modulation on VHF for radiotelephone comms; same mode, same band for 90(?) years. (They also use HF SSB, when flying over the ocean, and digital modes for ACARS, VDL2 and ADS-B.)

In the USAF, 6 of the 10 years I was in was working in long haul comms using HF SSB. Now this was (counts fingers and toes) a while back for me, but I'm betting its still being used by the military, for a number of reasons, most of them pretty reasonable.

I have a slightly different attitude about Capshaw. I thought she was pretty good in that movie. Just think about the character she was playing. A 1930's nightclub singer, high maintenance, gold digger, dumb as a bag of hammers, and ready to throw herself at whatever rich dude came her way, even if he looked like a moose dick. She was all ready to go legs up at pankot palace until she found out the dude running the place was 12. At the same time she wasn't a diabolical bitch, and was pretty much a harmless ditz, and then gets thrown into what was portrayed as a total shithole, being fed bug guts and watched fucking primitives eating monkey brains, bugs, and snakes. She acted pretty much exactly how a chick like that would act.

The pictures look like a major water line or sprinkler pipe failed. I suspect there has been a project on the books for years to replace that system, but since it hadn't failed yet, it was pushed back over and over for higher priority work.
Facility Maintenance work is expensive, hospital work even more so. The good news is it is one of the few problems that can be solved by throwing money at it. The bad news is there is relatively little opportunity for the Military Industrial Complex to enrich itself by doing so, and thus no incentive.

Good points. And the character was such a contrast to the Karen Allen character in Raiders which had much better development and a meatier role. I suspect that contrast made Kate’s role suffer so much in the comparison.

You don't *need* a BEd to teach the primary grades. Anybody with an 8th grade education and some mentoring can probably do it.
This over-credentialism is a huge problem in our world. Very few professions *need* a college diploma. Doctors and engineers, mainly.

Karen Allen's character was the daughter of an archaeologist. Probably well traveled, way more street wise, and probably had the farthest thing from a pampered existence. She picked one hell of a place to open a bar, so you could tell she was one tough cookie. She was 180 degrees opposite of Capshaw's character.

I promise you, the lefties in my life are going to pin the two plane crashes this week on Trump (and Elon) and his hires. Whether the facts agree or not. And they are having hyperventilating fits on all the illegals in their life getting ICE visits and deported.
If the latter is true, and all their neighbors are illegal, then maybe the problem is worse than we thought, and It's even more crucial we deport. They are not making the argument they think they are.

Well, that wraps up January. Average temp for the month here was 36.8F, which is 5.7 degrees below normal. It warmed up nicely the last few days and that bumped up the average a little bit. At one time it running over 6 degrees below normal. Rainfall was about half of normal. Which beats last January, which was a deluge.

Well, I discovered a little bug in how this weather station and the Wunderground network (and Ambient network as well) interact.
The rain bucket tripped another 0.01" in the last minute before midnight. That occurred after the last transmission of the day. Everything resets at midnight, and the result is it missed that last 0.01" of rain. The station console's internal record file did record it, but Wunderground missed it.
Thinking about it, that's not an easy thing to fix, it's a bug of the timing and transmission format, I think. You'd have to put something in to have a special daily revision method somehow.

My dad's a doc. When he retired he spent several years going on medical missions to Kazakhstan. They went to remote villages that only saw a doctor when they came, so of course they were served a big feast when they arrived. As honored guests, they were given the "best" part of the sheep.
