Just beyond the human figure's back there appears to be something low and flat that looks like an airport terminal. The flat, wet-looking pathways make you think of runways, except they aren't straight. They could be water, though, and the dark patches are higher bits of ground.

This is gay. So gay it should only be hung in a gay bar next to the gay drag queen dogs playing strip poker. So I thought until I read this at Wikipedia: Old Odd was a fraudster who hid his cash from the Norwegian tax man. Immediate upgrade: Masterpiece. Still gay but a gay masterpiece. Oddly, Odd is not gay. I admit it, my approach to evaluating art is not conventional.
From Wikipedia: The original version is severely damaged because it was painted with an oil mix that turned out to be sensitive to heat. The damaged painting was shown as part of Nerdrum's 2011 tax case, when the Norwegian tax agency deemed that Nerdrum had evaded taxes during the years 1997–2002 by hiding earnings in an Austrian safe deposit box. Nerdrum's defence said that the money was kept so it could be repaid to buyers [sure, Jan] of potentially damaged paintings from the same period as The Cloud, and that the secrecy was maintained to avoid a general devaluation of Nerdrum's art.

I think Inquisition was the point I realized they were screwed. One example: The Inquisitor lady in the cutscenes for the second game had a hot librarian thing. Pretty with a cute accent. Same character in Inquisition became a stand in for a young granny from Beverly Hillbillies. Stripped away all the softness of her features. Hard angles, leathery.
Beyond the other choices for the game, that was the one that hit me first.

I subscribe to Dark Horizons in my RSS feed, mostly for some movie news, but they cover gaming news too.
I remember a few months ago some pissily written article about how Dragon Age couldn't possibly be a drag on EA since it sold so many units, in the middle of all the news about how Dragon Age had undersold expectations heavily.
And then, earlier this week, they wrote a pretty straight article about how EA was downsizing in part because of Dragon Age.
It tickled me.
Dark Horizon also has some of the absolute dumbest commenters. It's a shitshow.

Bioware is fascinating in that you can watch the wheel come off as the games went on.
ME2- probably the apex of the studio. Good characters, good story, beautiful game. Just the right mix of grim and humor.
ME3- 95% of a great game. Just the ending (probably rushed.) Floated the first gay interaction. Poor Kaiden. 'Either you die a hero or live to be the weird gay friend.'
ME:A- a dynamite story concept and gameplay, the characters started to really fall off. They were just lifeless.
DA:I- there is some good stuff in there, but they started to cram in all of the gay and made all of the women unattractive. Story wise, it is not horrible, just lost the focus of the earlier games and became more generic.
And then they took all of the shit that had made the prior games shit and distilled it into Veilguard.
I'd wager a lot of the sales that Veilguard DID get were based on just the studio name and the memory of the prior, great games.

Now when I look at the vote totals supposedly MA is 2/3 communist and 1/3 normal. And while I've met plenty of MA communists it isn't 2 to 1 versus normies. Yes I understand I'm likely not fully embracing the Masshole experience BUT...

iIf they all had night vision goggles on and were looking at the ground (with all of the lights in the city) and their instruments, and given the speed the plane was moving at, it's almost certain they never saw it before the last millisecond. They were looking elsewhere, just like the plane was focusing on the runway and their instruments and never saw the helicopter.

People respond to incentives and often in unpredictable ways which is why governments have to be very careful about incentive structures.
This is also why idiotic static analysis of taxation turns reducing taxes into a cost when as during the Reagan tax cuts (and Kennedy before him), actually increased revenue despite lowering the rates. In Reagan's case, Congress simply took that as license to spend even more than the new revenue brought in. Same as Trump's economy.
A flourishing private economy can fund a government but not if the government promptly takes the increased revenues and then spends even more to the benefit of their pets and donors groups.

Pretty much agree on the ME series, although I never played Andromeda - replaying the legendary edition trilogy now, and just getting into ME2 on that. Was always my favorite (Thane is one of my favorite companions), for technical improvements over ME1, and overall great storyline. ME3 didn't seem to have the big jump in gameplay/graphics quality, and agree on the ending, but still a good game.

West Virginia came about when that area refused to go along with Virginia seceding. Costal Washington State, Oregon, and California have had a hard-on about seceding for sometime. At the same time the eastern parts of these states are actively trying to break away. It seems any costal secession attempt would be rejected successfully by the inland regions.

I'm firmly of the opinion this is a blind spot in our current government as founded. The political state boundaries of California simply do not make sense. Those are two groups of people dissimilar enough that dividing the state in two, somewhere along Sacramento, would make sense and both groups would be happier as a result.

I loved the story concept for Andromeda. Going to a new galaxy, no backup. REAL pioneers. 600 years have passed so everything you know is gone and they explored why this was what some of the people wanted. The one side story where they had audio logs of a father who had made the trip because his daughter had died of a terminal illness and she had made recordings for him. THAT was good story.

On visual approaches, one of the duties of the non-flying pilot, or "pilot monitoring" as they now call it, is to be scanning outside looking for possible conflicting traffic.
Also, no idea what the regional jet's company flight operations manual says -- I suspect it aligns with American's -- but it's possible, even though they were on a visual approach, that it mandates the crew enter the change in landing runway into the flight management system.
That would require the pilot monitoring having his or her head down with eyes in the cockpit making the change rather than outside scanning for traffic.

It's probably one of the biggest failures to understand simple human nature.
Guys don't marry women to raise other men's babies as an almost universal general rule. Yes, sometimes men do marry women with kiddos, but the woman really has to bring a lot to the table to get over that hump, particularly if she doesn't plan on having anymore kids.
Men tend not to marry skanks, whores, whatevs. One big reason a guy will marry a woman is because he believes that she will be true to him and be a good wife and mother. What a racket (and I'm sure they also had hundreds if not a thousand DEI positions and hires) ...

Any breach of that ratio leads to a 50% tax on the full value of the endowment.

Ok...so imagine the pilot is on a battlefield fighting China or whoever. I understand a helicopter is in trouble with enemy fighters in the area but don't they teach pilots to have even minimal situational awareness?
And yes I am fully willing to believe the pilot did exactly what he was told to do which would in and of itself be the problem.

Yea. I don't fly planes, but I race cars. Shit happens so fast at speed you have fractions of a second to react. I always laugh at all the armchair racers commenting on crashes: "Oh well, the driver should have done x, y, and z. Easy peasy." Yea sure.
And these are cars. Slower speeds than planes and more maneuverable than big helis.

The two videos I linked to with ATC audio and radar overlay had confirmed 140 mph. The chopper may have been looking at a different plane as well. By the time they saw the plane, it was too late in the game.

Saw somebody explaining how this is (potentially) a DEI hire and training issue.
He said that as an ATC, when you have two blips this close you tell pilots where to go, you don't ask them what they can see.
ATCs have to be two things: 1) smart, and 2) sharp. I believe that all ethnicities and both sexes are capable of being both. So, you have to watch that when you're spanning out with diversity, that you're not prizing diversity above these two needed attributes.
It's not clear that Biden administration politburo maintained the standards.

1) So pilot error there.
2) I’ve heard the atc. No warning of possible collision or description of flight vector before. “Do you see the plane?” Is not how the atc should have put it. More like “you appear to be on an intersection course with flight in vector xyz…”
