72 I never think of Sargent showing a sense of humor but this one does. I assume that Sargent was already known for his style doing flattering portraits so using that style for this parody would have really caught peoples' attention. The staring eyes and receding hairline almost jump off the canvas. I wonder what the public reaction, if any, was. In any event, someone was having fun.

122 The missus and I went to an exhibition of the works of Mr. Sargent. It was really one of the most enjoyable experiences. The subjects of his art were all over the map, demographically. Nobles and kings in the same room as Roma gypsies. All rendered with equal skill.

Netflix bought the rights for $12 million.

They've reportedly spent $30 million on the Oscar campaign.

It'll probably win some of the awards it's nominated for (one of the two original songs, or something, and probably Zoe Saldana for Supporting Actress), but Netflix is going to be shut out...again...in Best Picture.

It's obvious that Netflix is just desperate for that award. Hell, Apple already won it with the glorified Lifetime movie CODA.

A little too exciting morning. We were trying to put show entries in for little Fitz but the superintendent's site didn't recognize his AKC registration number. Called the AKC. Found out that while his litter had been registered and paid for by his co-breeders, Fitz individually had not been registered. We took care of it posthaste and got his entry in.

Two things about this. Had the show used another superintendent, one where all Fitz's registration information get entered manually, he might have been shown, won a ribbon and had the award disallowed later. The other is that Her Majesty is an AKC Breeder of Merit, part of which qualifications is that every puppy in every litter is registered with the AKC. Since she (and I) are listed as co-breeders on this litter, it would be a blot on her copybook.

True. Awareness of dirty dealing is up.

How that affects regular Americans at this point is unclear, though. I can assume that the spending on things like USAID and whatever else other regulatory agencies are splurging on will lower overall deficit spending which could positively affect things like consumer prices and the overall money supply while also lessening regulatory burden across the economic sector and improving the ability of our economic engine to run.

However, that's an assumption of future events. That's not a measurable thing that has happened. Right now, the center of events is agencies in DC and their ability to spend without oversight (even from the chief executive). What goes on after that is assumption.

However, the assertion from DU was: America is doing terribly now. What measure is there to say one way or the other how things are going?
