Leftist owned bakery in Texas put out an angry post calling MAGA supporters who live in her town "absolute garbage" because they were inquiring about getting custom Trump cakes made.

Physics Geek @physicsgeek 4h
Yes, I agree with all of those in the thread who say she shouldn't have to make a cake she doesn't want to make. Except, and this is a big one for me, the left does not believe such a right exists for people not on the left. In fact, they've spent years harassing businesses/cake shops run by conservatives by bringing lawsuits against said businesses. The owners either have to spend a lot of money defending themselves, even though they end up winning.

So, screw her. She says she's booked way in advance? Great, find a time when she says she can fill an order and then give instructions to make a MAGA/Trump cake. If she refuses, sue her. Force her to spend all of her money to defend herself. I'm done playing by the rules while my opponent plays Calvinball. I'm done being the better person. Now? I'm ready to be the worse person. And I mean worse by a lot.

I always thought it was pretty clever to play off of gullible white men's reverence for the sacred by just claiming everything was sacred to them. It was total bullcrap but it worked, for a while at least. Like North Dakota, that wasn't a sacred area, but they managed to grab a lot of really crappy land by lying about it.

There's more to it than that, like usual. Trump is going back to old time, days of McKinley politics. He's marking Greenland as in the US sphere of influence. He is leaving UK and EU as OUT of our sphere. They can grow up or die out.

The Canal is IN our sphere, so other powers back off.

The Gulf of America touches countries in our Sphere, we will be concentrating there.

This is a lot more comfortable and predictable way of acting than our spasmodic support of Armenia or wherever.

During my First Term, Sean served as the Assistant Special Agent in Charge of the Presidential Protective Division, with direct oversight and responsibility of multiple protectees, and enhanced security plans for my residences.

You're absolutely right.

You might consider trying it some time.

The Canaanites were there before 3100 BCE. They lasted at least through the collapse of the Late Bronze Age (probably ~1190 BCE), which led to the withdrawal of the Egyptians.

After the withdrawal of the Egyptians, Canaan became home to the Israelites and the Philistines. The Israelites settled the central highlands, a loosely defined highland region stretching from the Judean hills in the south to the Samarian hills in the north.

You know about as much of the history of the area as you do about penguins.

Don't care. Seriously. Don't care that Dildo self identifies as Jew. Don't care that they all, over there, want to play King on Shit Mountain over Jerusalem. Makes no difference to me.

One bunch, when I was absolutely in country on 10/7 - wanted to get their paws on my ass because I was white. They would have either killed me or kidnapped me.

The other ? Well, it took them about twelve hours to figure out what time it was. And as I was getting out ? Still more militaristic than they were comfortable with, as I was telling them "get some".

And that's the entire scene in Israel. As told to you, by someone that was there, so much better than all the folks here that don't have a fucking clue.

Benjamin Schreiber litigated that. He's serving a life sentence in Iowa for murder.

He was resuscitated after his heart had stopped, and stated that his "life sentence" had thus been completed.

Judges aren't big on eschatology:

On Nov. 6, the court issued its ruling: "Schreiber is either still alive, in which case he must remain in prison, or he is actually dead, in which this appeal is moot."

No, they had about 5 brigades in North Africa 15-25000 men. In Operation Crusader they had 2 Brigades at the front, one of which was wiped out in the early battle due to British confusion and fecklessness. The leader of the other Brigade spent the rest of the battle inventing reasons why his brigade would not contribute in the battle and get wiped out too. In another part of the field a NZ division was cut off too for a long time and finally just marched off the field in disgust once contact was re-established.

It goes way beyond TV. Those security clearances are a golden ticket in DC to the defense contracting and permanent foreign policy establishment.

The Atlantic Council was a huge part of the Ukraine corruption. If you look at their board you will find a Who's Who of CIA elite including many of the people who signed the Hunter Biden laptop letter and just had their security clearance removed.

That's the game. Retired spooks and military with security clearances might retire from the government but they take their retained access to classified information and go to work in the private sector to continue the work of the swamp. Cutting off that access is big.

Schroedinger's Convict
Posted by: "Perfessor" Squirrel at January 22, 2025 08:57 PM (BpYfr)

I remember an old SF story where a non violent society convicted a murderer of a death penalty offense. They would bring food to him in a sealed cell in a slot. A while after conviction he got a cup with a note saying the contents were a painless poison and your body would be removed after death.

He tossed the poison aside. It was only when food and water no longer came to the door that he realized what the sentence truly was.

303 The lovely late Mrs. Doof was not much of a cook (she admitted that openly) but she made great brownies. Family and friends always raved about her special brownies and asked for her secret recipe. I am the only one who knows her secret recipe. The secret -- a damn box of Betty Crocker triple chunk.

Posted by: Doof at January 22, 2025 08:48 PM (RFPHU)

Ah... that was Momma B's method too. I found that a lot of women are either great bakers, or great cooks. My mother was both, but then she learned from my grandmother who could make an old boot taste good. Mrs b is stronger in the baking, she has it down to a science. After my mom died my father took up baking, because his sweet tooth is insane, and he needed to feed his habit. He makes a chocolate cake from hell, from scratch, no box mix. Cakes, apple pies, brownies, all of it. I'm glad diabetes don't run in his side of the family, because he's making this stuff every other day.

We got maybe 0.2" of snow yesterday here. Sun came out this morning pretty bright, and the snow sublimed away. Temp was in the mid 20s, with dew point around 6F. Breeze picked up and the snow in direct sunlight just sublimed away, no melting.

That's a very rare thing to see here. At one time, there was just the least amount of melting from the snow on the roof. A little dripping in the gutters on the back side of the house later in the day when the temp finally got above 32F.

Yep, "unthaw" meaning "thaw" has been a word since the 1600s, apparently. It's sort of like a double negative, used for emphasis, they think.

Erroneous logically.

Stargate is a great name but the $500b is a ridiculous number and no one should take it seriously unless SoftBank is going to sell all of their BABA and ARM.

SoftBank has $38b in cash, $142b in debt and generates $3ish billion in FCF per BBG. They own $143b in ARM and $18b in BABA. If they start selling ARM, their stake will be worth much less very quickly.

Oracle has $11b in cash, $88b in debt and generates $10b in FCF.

OpenAI is burning cash.

MGX did not commit to a number and is a $100b fund. Maybe 10% of the fund goes into this best case.

Nvidia will limit how much they invest in any one model company (they don’t need a monopsony). Maybe $5b.

Barring the aforementioned SoftBank ARM sale, might be able to put together $50b in equity funding over several years. Can obviously finance the GPUs and put debt on the JV.

Nowhere close to $500b. Everyone should just start issuing press releases for $1 trillion AI projects.

BTW love it that the ticker MGX which is a biotech company is up 33% on this.

I was reading about this. In some languages, a double negative construction is emphatic. English is not technically such "emphatic negation", but many speakers of it do.

For example, "she's not unattractive" is generally an understated way to she's really beautiful. But, "I didn't do nothing!" is commonly understood as emphatic.

We get the Snow Geese down here. Driving home to Wilmington one February morning a few years back there was a farm field covered in those beasties.

I would have sworn that it had snowed there and just there. Whiter than Billy Jeff's unhealthy pallor it was.

Rear wheel drive FTW!

470 Rumors that Putin is going to try to have Fauci extradited for "crimes against humanity".

Now, Putin is far from my favorite person, but he's damned near as good at trolling the rubes as Trump.

No hung juries in Russia, but hanging juries, for sure!

475 I've never heard "ravel" without the "un," or "peel" with it.

Also, boning and deboning both leave you with boneless food.

Unless you're that guy that's still boning the chicken.

Around here "boned" means it had a bone stuck in it.

476 Thats the one thing I miss about my old house. There was a lake about 50 yards behind me. It always looked nice in winter, especially when it froze, and you had a great view because the foliage was gone. Almost like a winter vacation spot. I don't miss it in the summer though, when it was a like a jungle and you couldn't see shit.

478 Here in Commiefornia

Not much but well penned cover by the MSM for a CHICOM BIOLAB discovered in Reedly Ca. back in July 2023 housing all sorts of viral antigens including COVID, Smallpox, malaria, E. coli, chlamydia, and a host of other viruses. The follow ups were dry local news casts of the "Nothing to see here...move along" variety.

Isn't that right Gavin?

Why should Google change Gulf of Mexico? Yeah, it's not going to stick. Even if it did belong to us it'd be a dumb idea. I mean, who the hell was clamoring for that?
Posted by: SloPitch Whiffer at January 22, 2025 07:58 PM (wzAuc)

I read that Trump is using this ploy to get around any of Biden's regulations that restrict activity (e.g., oil drilling) in rhe Gulf of Mexico.

484 Elephants do not (because they physically cannot) "run." They "walk real fast (for an elephant)" -- they cannot run nor for that matter can they jump even an inch. Which is a real shame because wouldn't you just love to see an elephant run down the court and dunk a basketball?

I know I would.
