Well, the news is less than encouraging - the current chemotherapy regimen does not appear to be working. There are a LOT more satellite tumors in my liver, and all of them are growing. The biggest tumor hasn't changed much, but given its size, that isn't very telling.
The next step is to stop the infusions and go to targeted therapy that will attack the genetic component of these tumors. Another option is to have a chemical pump installed in tandem with the targeted therapy. The pump will infuse drugs directly into the liver. These might shrink the main tumor, but at this point it doesn't look like surgery to remove the tumor is an option. I will be seeing the oncological surgeon in another couple of weeks to discuss this option.
The good news is that the targeted therapy involves oral drugs taken daily, so I won't be having infusion treatments every week. And if they decide to install a pump, it will be surgically installed under the skin and continuous treatment will be given 2 weeks on and 2 weeks off.
Ultimately, however, the best case scenario is that I have 1-2 years left. This oncologist's other patients haven't

Honestly, this is kind of what I thought was going to be the outcome. It sucks, but at least we know what the timeline will be. I am determined to make the most of the time that I have left.

Graduated to the World Book after that and always looked forward to the Year Book each year.
Color plates in encyclopedias and dictionaries were big favorites as well.

Sometime around 1980, I was building a word game for my Radio Shack Model I computer. To build its vocabulary, I went through my entire American Heritage dictionary A to Z. I was just looking for four-letter words, but I spent a lot of time encountering the rest of them. I've forgotten more than I remember.
Never ported my Model I games to PC. They may still exist, somewhere in the catacombs, on a two-sided DoubleDos formatted five-inch floppy disc…

Oh God. I watched that late one night as a kid with my sisters. I don't think any of us knew what it was at first; my grandma was babysitting, saw "Oz" on the channel guide, and turned it on. That movie was nightmare fuel. Low-budget nightmare fuel, but nightmare fuel nonetheless.

Very recently, the Inspector General of the Justice department was ordered by new legislation (from congress) to conduct a very detailed evaluation of of all 122 facilities and assign them a risk score as well as risk assessment and overall handling of inmates. Peters was required to respond within 60 days to those evaluations. That includes the facilities holding the J6'rs. And, if they purposefully overlooked the atrocious treatment and constitutional violations of those folks, or maybe even noted them. Well, then Peters had a big problem. As does the IG of Justice if he glossed it over. Maybe it's the IG trying for the Non-disclosure, because his report is to be read to Congress and the public. I've never seen anything along those lines.

This is me. I opposed the lockdowns as I oppose any police state bullshit, but in my day to day life they made little to no difference. I live in a rural area and work remotely. I go out to exercise, to the grocery store every week or ten days, and to the gas station once or twice a month. I have three or four people with whom I socialize in person a few times per year. For fun, I fish and I read sci-fi novels and I do ham radio and I play video games. I shoot at a privately owned range when nobody else is there. I don't go to taverns or to public events.
If I'm being honest, had I not known the country was in lockdown I would have hardly noticed.

My mom faced the same decision a few months before my dad passed away. She just couldn't care for him anymore, she was way too small to help him get up from falls and he had severe dementia. Ended up having to put him in a veteran's home for hospice care right as the lockdown started because his doctor was forced to stop the immunotherapy for cancer due to the aforementioned lockdown. He passed away 3 weeks later. The entire time period sucked, but the early part of the lockdown sucked the most for me and my family

The space heater is like having a roaring fire, a portable fire. It sounds nuts but it works for me. And it's cheaper than having the furnace turned up.

The trick is to pad the seat with Styrofoam. Not the open-cell stuff, but the closed-cell kind that crumbles readily into pea-size lumps. It is quite soft, and even at -40 or so, despite being cold to the touch initially, it is almost instantly warmed by your body heat, and reflects it back at you, becoming comfortable is a few seconds. They used to sell fabric-covered stadium cushions made of the same stuff.

The trick is to pad the seat with Styrofoam. Not the open-cell stuff, but the closed-cell kind that crumbles readily into pea-size lumps. It is quite soft, and even at -40 or so, despite being cold to the touch initially, it is almost instantly warmed by your body heat, and reflects it back at you, becoming comfortable is a few seconds. They used to sell fabric-covered stadium cushions made of the same stuff.

I don't know exactly how it works, but the modern ones do much better. My Korean mini-split (Pioneet) keeps up nicely til it hits about 15F, and even then it'll still keep things decent for a day or two until the place bleeds out all the stored heat.

Seems to me that heat pumps work by delivering a fairly large volume of air at close to the desired set temperature. Forced-air heaters and furnaces, including little electric fan heaters, deliver a smaller volume of hot air, so it feels nice and warm when the air stream hits you.

Btw - the solution to the J6 jail slow roll is to dispatch the US Marshalls (a force of about 20 to 30 ought to do it), with copies of all the pardons, to the J6 jail in DC. They then officially serve the orders and demand immediate release of the individuals. Japan got pressured to take some in a few years back. There have been a number of workers from the Middle east before, but not many. I don't know who was responsible for said pressure. I suspect it was their own soft-headed Lefties, and the Potato's people. The Muzzies have not made themselves welcome. Why? Because Japn is VERY homogenous, so the secret to success in Japan while being a gaijin is to be as close to Japanese common culture as you can be. It's not possible to be 100%, but they really like it when you give it your best shot. Was telling that very idea to his niece today!
He had taken the stair-lift UP (in the middle of the night) last night, while I was asleep. And then, his legs buckled as he tried to get off of it. I found him at 4:30 a.m., laying on the landing at top of stairs and he was unable to stand up. Thankfully, the lift chair blocked him from falling down the stairs as he struggled to stand!
It *could have been* so much worse!
That's the moment when I knew for sure that he couldn't remain home.
Called the EMS crew to take him to hospital-- didn't know whether he'd been injured-- and asked for the hospital social worker to help with placement. I had no list of places to call or anything, but *she* did.

I'm sorry for the current prognosis and pray for further healing for you. On the positive side, and we all need those whenever we can get them, every day is an advance in med tech and the jigsaw puzzle that is cancer. You remain unique as an individual and can deviate from other cases. And, optimally, a) you'll deviate on the longer time frame both from natural survivability and from current Rx regimens, and b) oncologists may employ a new, improved regimen or procedure that is, today, experimental and, in six months, clinical. That is to say better options are always in development.
The longer you hang around, the higher chance of remedy or "cure" entering your case.
I hope this doesn't come across as too harsh or sterile as clearly it's not my intent. But there is hope in reality even if it's stark at this snapshot in time. And hope is eternally valuable currency now.
Oh, and f*ck cancer.

The trick is to pad the seat with Styrofoam. Not the open-cell stuff, but the closed-cell kind that crumbles readily into pea-size lumps. It is quite soft, and even at -40 or so, despite being cold to the touch initially, it is almost instantly warmed by your body heat, and reflects it back at you, becoming comfortable is a few seconds. They used to sell fabric-covered stadium cushions made of the same stuff.

Teresa I'm praying for you as I know others here are. I beat prostate cancer, I know that's an easier one to conquer, but cancer CAN be conquered.
Some guy mentioned on the prayer thread that he had breast cancer, then another guy said he had also. I'm wondering because my nipples are very sore to touch. Dr says it's nothing but it was just one first, now both. Anyone had a similar thing happeni?

Farmer, tender breasts can be hormone-related. Assuming you are/were taking estrogen(s) for the prostate cancer? That could do it. But! Do get it checked out.
p.s. Dad had prostate cancer. His treatments gave him the classic menopausal hot flashes

Thanks DebbyDS. Jules is home, released from rehab 2 months after she went into the hosp. The nurses at the hospital called her their "Christmas miracle"!
She is very weak but slowly getting better. I'm her caretaker for a while, hard to keep up with her, the dogs and everything else. But much better than having to plan a memorial.
And Trump is president! that just gives me optimism for the future.

I'll add my bit for the hormones causing breast tenderness. One of my cousins got it so bad, in addition to crying jags, that he told his doctor he wasn't going to continue with the treatment. I swear he had full on PMS symptoms, other than cramps, obviously. Definitely have it checked out, but it seems to be a pretty common side effect.

No, no hormones, I had the radioactive seeds implanted. This was Nov 22 I think. Low psa tests since then indicate I am in remission, they tell me.
