Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | Canada's First Race-Play Authoritarian PM Justin Trudeau Announces Resignation as Both Liberal Party Leader and PMHello, good friends. Welcome to the first working week of 2025. Take your time digging your car out of the snow. 30% of all heart attacks occur after snow storms. I just made that up. The media taught me to make up Science Facts in the name of Promoting Help. But definitely there's a spike in heart attacks, right? Suddenly guys are doing hard exercise after maybe years of avoiding it. On to the actual news: Trudeau has finally been forced out. The Vibe Shift collects a juicy blackface scalp.Unfortunately he's hasn't resigned yet. He says he'll resign after the Liberal Party has a campaign and election for a new party leader. I don't know how long that will take. Update: I think he suspended Parliament until March 24. Hopefully that means he'll be out before then. Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre, widely believed to be a shoo-in for the prime minister's office in October, has lambasted the Liberal Party's past several months of floundering. "Forty-one million [Canadian citizens] are not obliged to wait around while this party sorts out its s***," the conservative leader said in an interview released Friday. "Like, these guys could have got rid of Trudeau a year and a half ago."
Two years ago, I wrote a column denouncing Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's use of a counter-terrorism law to shut down the Freedom Convoy trucker protests as an authoritarian attack on free speech. Now, a Canadian court has agreed and ruled that the use of the Emergencies Act was unlawful and "unreasonable." Despite Trudeau's attacks on civil liberties, he remains a favorite of the media as an iconic figure on the left.Despite his authoritarianism and drive to end civil liberties, he remains an iconic figure of the left?! Despite?! Turley, you are not #based. It's not "despite" his authoritarian drive that the left loves him, but because of it.

---- He's asked the King's rep here, the Governor-General, to prorogue [suspend] both Houses of Parliament sitting until March 24th. So the Libs should have their Party convention to pick a new leader in that time and the new Party leader will be PM for the new Sitting. [See next] Posted by: andycanuck (hovnC) at January 06, 2025 12:05 PM (iMpf5) 20
The party leader of the governing party in Canada IS the Prime Minister, it's one and the same. We don't elect a Prime Minister like Americans elect a President.

From earlier this morning from me:
MFM claims Justin has asked the Governor-General [the King's stand-in here] to prorogue Parliament until March 24; and CTV News claims he's resigning. [Statement at 11:45 AM] So Justin resigns and gets the Libs a break until late March to hold a convention to pick a new Party leader, who will become PM automatically. Then in late March the new PM/leader will attend the new Sitting and try to get Opposition support from the separatist Bloc Quebecois or leftist NDP to stay in power until the mandatory October election; or fail at that and there will be a Spring election with the new PM trying to win that April/May election. [Our election campaigns are only 37 to 51 days not a yearlong affairs like yours.] No way the GG calls an early election right now that we should have with its <51-day campaign, ready to negotiate with the new American PDT Administration as she [the GG] is a Liberal hack. I will never forget visiting Canada and while on a historic tour of Victoria all the middle aged ladies were all a flutter about how he was so greatly loved and oh so dreamy. I wonder how those old bats feel about him now, since that dream has turned into a nightmare of high prices, raised taxation and a boot stomping on their faces. Can any of your grandchildren afford to buy a home, good grief afford to buy groceries? PDT ain't much when it comes to handsome, but he has balls of steel. No, that scenario is unlikely now. What he will try to do is maneuver someone in who has the exact same ideals he does, but who has been steadfastly loyal to Trudeau. Basically he'll try to continue governing from behind the closed curtain, like what Obama did through Biden. Posted by: Grumpy and Recalcitrant at January 06, 2025 12:12 PM (O7YUW) 67
The Liberal MPs will caucus and elect a new leader. That probably will happen soon - the last thing the party wants is to head into a national election without a leader firmly in place. However, the government is a coalition of Liberals and the New Democratic Party, ie, the socialists. Coming to an agree with the NPD over the next PM probably will be difficult, and may even have to wait until after the next election, unless Trudeau loses a vote of no confidence and is forced to resign. Interesting times.

This is bad news. I really hate to see him go. Such a bright young man; what is coming? Doug Ford? Pierre P? please Canada don't do this.
If elections are called, barring polling being way off, the CPC is going to crush the Liberals. Polls have them ahead 20+pts. Seen some at 25pts. Why are the liberals so badly viewed? I have a former coworker who is really progressive who just told me she’s voting for Pollivre because “Trudeau has really messed things up” but wouldn’t go into detail. Blame for inflation which has been fixed, blame for housing crisis, which is provincial. Suckered by Pierre Axe the Tax Poilievre who is good with slogans but is deliberately avoiding stating substantive policy positions because his actual policies are generally losers. There are stupid Canadians who want to "send a message", like the pro-Palestinians in the US who voted tRump. They'll all have to endure FAFO pain. Trudeau is seen as weak. Our Liberal party in NS were decimated at the last provincial election. The PCs now have a large majority. Trudeau resigning will only be helpful if he's replaced by a party outsider. In addition, the mechanism to lock and unlock the barriers was embedded in the street and often became submerged in what the source called “Bourbon Street juice” – the mix of street grime, refuse, rainwater, spilled drinks and occasionally vomit that gives the tourist strip its signature stench. “To unlock it, you have to dip your hand into Bourbon Street juice,” the person said. “It was a disgusting job. In MA, people wouldhave been out inthe middle of the night clearing their driveways with snowblowers to make sure it didn't pile up and the road crews would have been out all night clearing the streets and racking up all that overtime. To a leftist, a good narrative is far better squalid objective reality. To the degree that a leftist is insulated from the bad choices made on their behalf by their leaders, they can ignore the pain of others for a very long time by clinging to their narrative.

Looking at the [glacial] flow of things in the world, if the Grlndrs went for any kind of act of union, we-un's ought to welcome them with open arms, giving free get-acquainted tours, adapting Greenlander social tics and clothes styles, finding Greenland music to put on the PA system, the whole spiel -- like the Celtic fashions in Rome. "PM Justin Trudeau Announces Resignation as Both Liberal Party Leader and PM"
From the portion of his announcement and the CTV after-commentary I saw, it appears he did not actually resign as either, but just announced his intention to, after a "transparent and open" process to select a successor! Maybe his party leaders need to tell him to STFU, because once Parliament reconvenes, there will be a vote of no confidence, and he will be out on his ass and a new election will follow in short order. It took several minutes, but one of the CTV ladies finally mentioned how Trudeau was pulling a Biden, refusing to leave until long after he had overstayed his usefulness, and putting his party in a tight spot! Of course, that's a "feature" of the Parliamentary system! And like Biden, he clearly thinks that he is God's gift to the party, and is only leaving because he's being forced out!
