120 I enjoy the artist's landscapes, especially the forest ones. This one is less complicated but the technique he has for showing detail works here. (I was surprised at the idea of trees in a field of grain until I realized this predates tractors and would have used horses.) There is a sense of plenty that may be idealized but it is there. It's a pleasant, comforting scene with the bright colors of the grain against the darker trees and sky.

Hero worship of Trump is nothing short of rampant among teenage boys and young men. Video games are a driving force behind this phenomenon. In multi-player games, guess who gets the crap kicked out of them first? That's right...the kid who doesn't support Trump. Fine with me. If Greenland and Denmark want to keep each other, why would we want to interfere? Unless, of course, there is a national security issue, and then we would want to negotiate an arrangement that protects our interests and hopefully also benefits Greenland and Denmark.

215 It's often stated that if you can't separate the art from the artist and his politics, then you can't consume any of our cultural output, because the entertainment industry is 100% Marxist.

But this is only partly true. If you're willing to watch older stuff, there was still non-agitprop being produced prior to the mid 2000s, and there's more and more of it the further back you go.

But if your entertainment is sports, sorry, you're out of luck. Nobody wants to watch replays of old games, and there's too much money in athletics for it to be anything but Marxists in charge.

William Goldman's original novel takes the tack that The Princess Bride is a real if hoary old book, and that Goldman is simply telling us "the good parts" from it, not the dull in-between explanatory sections that bored him as a child.

Despite writing thrillers and dramatic novels as well as screenplays in both categories, Goldman had quite the sense of humor. See the dialog he gives Butch and Sundance in their movie.

Orwell didn’t seem to think so. He claimed this was a fatal defect in western societies. Tolerating depraved people simply because they are talented in a given area. His example was Dali. The federal Consumer Financial Protection Bureau on Tuesday issued new regulations barring medical debts from American credit reports, enacting a major new consumer protection just days before President Joe Biden is set to leave office.

The rules ban credit agencies from including medical debts on consumers’ credit reports and prohibit lenders from considering medical information in assessing borrowers.

These rules, which the federal watchdog agency proposed in June, could be reversed after President-elect Donald Trump takes office Jan. 20. But by finalizing the regulations now, the CFPB effectively dared the incoming Trump administration and its Republican allies in Congress to undue rules that are broadly popular and could help millions of people who are burdened by medical debt.
