In our office, we are still using QuickBooks Pro 2016. So is our accountant. But this can't last forever. I see that Win11 still supports compatibility mode. Here's hoping for a few more years.

There seems to be a lot of confusion about this interaction. I personally am the biggest fan of Elon on the planet and I always will be.

I’m also capable of disagreeing with people I deeply respect and admire. That being said I am agnostic on whether or not H1b should be reformed or deleted.

It is clear however that there is an extreme amount of abuse in H1b programs that need to be addressed. I hope we all can appreciate that fact and that Elon, Vivek, and Doge give this issue the justice it deserves regardless of any previous personal history with the program.

51 I just wanted to share twi nice things which happened in the past week. Son is finished at job until January because they're on school break. Right before they left his bosses boss got the young people a winter hat with school insignia . She had never met him in her life. I thought that was very kind.

My son is attending the very active evangelical church ( well, he comes to our church sometimes)
Because they have a young adult group. I know the pastor. He is a very nice guy and we had lunch once when I was running for office the first time. Apparently, son told him I wasn't feeling well and he called and left a message to tell me that my ministry is important and he wanted to encourage me and said he would be praying. I thought that was a lovely, supportive thing to do.

72 Coffee and a pipe on this cool morning. I'm debating whether to have breakfast before or after my shower. (No, not during)

Got some errands to run this morning, grocery, library to drop off some books (might grab a video for us to watch tonight or tomorrow), and Miss Linda wants to go to the World Market in the same area. I used to love that place for the sparkling mineral water six-packs they carried, and for the interesting snacks and imported dark chocolate. Since I don't do those snacks any more, and they no longer carry that water, I may go to the Barnes & Noble next door and see if I can find a Mercedes Enthusiast magazine to peruse, or even buy.

I don't think this is a scam like that; it would be noticed too quickly.

More likely, this just has slow, low-grade flash chips coupled with a slow controller chip (and no DRAM at all). It will probably not only work, but work better than a high-end SSD from 2014. But by 2024 standards, it will kind of suck.

I think you misunderstood my remark. What I was referencing was white males trying to get into engineering schools and being flat out rejected because they were white and male. That needs to be addressed because even though race based preferences have been struck down in the Supreme Court, colleges are still engaging in it.

93 I think you misunderstood my remark. What I was referencing was white males trying to get into engineering schools and being flat out rejected because they were white and male. That needs to be addressed because even though race based preferences have been struck down in the Supreme Court, colleges are still engaging in it.

The problem there is not an H1B issue. What's involved is DEI in the schools - from pre-school through most of the universities, including graduate schools, and DEI as adopted by major corporations.

These are all battles which need to be fought. Having a completely revised and downsized H1B program with specific goals of making up for the slack in high level engineering positions in the US, is not what's hindering white people from getting jobs - even much lower on the corporate totem pole.

Everything's broken and needs to be fixed - or else!

You know what breaks broken institutions? No funding, lawsuits and a vacuum filled by competition who haven't forgotten what the standard behaviors of market forces are.

It won't happen overnight but it should begin very soon after January 20th. You already see some corporations have caught on.

I told the theater head at my daughter's HS that I'd done a lot of work with that I was puzzled by their disinterest in my skills.
