36 I like this! It looks like a cover for Astounding in the Fifties or Analog in the Sixties/Seventies. Or a Ballantine Books paperback cover. What titanic event is going on here? Raw blue-white energy from another universe flooding into ours?

Note the people, two near the tree and one toward the lower center, dwarfed by all this. The guy in the center looks like he's wearing a loincloth and not much more. And there are two others on the lower right, who look like they are opening this great rift.

They run Westerns in the morning, crime and adventure series in the afternoon, and the entire block of the first five Star Trek series in the evenings. 93 No idea what to make of this painting but it is intriguing. Aside from the novel image, the smaller details of the tree, men and terrain almost hinted at eventually catch the viewer's eye. It makes you, or at least me, want to know more about what Tansey had in mind.

I would like to learn about Tansey's technique. And it's worth looking at some of his other works. They sow his range of talent but, also, the man had a wicked sense of humor in some of them.

119 Mark Tansey's beat is art history and the philosophy of aesthetics, generally with a huge dose of intellectual snark. Here (I think) he's having some good clean fun with the Plato's Cave thought experiment and how it relates to the artistic intent of depicting nature and reality.

I could, of course, be completely wrong about this.

My Husband works for a non-profit animal shelter and you would be heartbroken to see the poor dogs they get.. How could anyone treat an animal that badly. It's a no kill shelter with great veterinary care for these animals.. We adopted one.. A Golden doodle who was a breeder in in a dog "factory" .. That's what I call it and she is only 2...

Happened to me as well, but I got a much better response. As we age, our eye changes from being more spherical to more olive in general shape whuch alters the focal length overall. Then as we grow older, our vision deteriorates (focal length changes) to the point where the olive shape matches the focal lenght need. My right eye is back to 20/20, and my left eye is 20/18. Weird.

Sociopaths in general do so because they lack empathy with others and as 'things' no different than a toaster, etc. Animal abuse is common among the criminal class along with trying to make good dogs into killers via abuse to protect their illegal shit.

Some abuse animals to make them feel better also about their perceived low standing in society or for profit (puppy mills, dogfighting, etc.).
