Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | Merry Christmas!America is a Christian country. Yes, I said it, and I am very happy that is the case. What is stupendous and unique about this marvelous country is that it is also a secular republic that is structurally respectful of the minority view. The Christmas season is my favorite time of the year. I am firmly and contentedly Jewish, so my appreciation is focused on the happiness and joy and beauty that is so evident everywhere. Let us get rid of the silliness of "Happy Holidays," and accept the reality that the "Holiday" is Christianity celebrating the birth of Jesus. It's called Christmas...Christ's Mass. That's pretty clear! And in case you were wondering whether you were going to dodge a bullet and miss Luciano Pavarotti? Nope.Comments(Jump to bottom of comments)1

CBD thank you because far too many tribes have been created over the years and taught to hate each other. This time of year and all year, is a time to come together and celebrate. I had members of a local church choir, sing Christmas Carols for me Friday evening. The heartfelt joy was evident in all. I'm not even a member of this church. Happiness abounded. The reason for the season? Sin. But there is good news! Matthew 1:20 But as he considered these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not fear to take Mary as your wife, for that which is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. 21 She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.” Posted by: Eternity Matters at December 22, 2024 12:18 PM (yT7Wa) 22

Yes and stop with that nonsense that someone may get offended. - If you are offended by the Christmas celebrations then leave this country immediately - I didn't say please. - I don't notice these same people worrying of any offense when Ramadan or Id comes around. - Usually it isn't Moslems or Hindus or other religions that complain but it is so-called 'well meaning' White trouble makers, possibly atheists, that do thevociferous, oleaginous bullshit. I always preferred the Latin lyrics to Adeste Fideles to those in English. Vocalists who’ve sung classic Christian music such as that agree that Latin is a much easier and more melodic language for singing than English; for starters no dipthongs and all pure vowels. And the nature of Latin grammar makes rhyming poetry far easier in Latin; altogether a very elegant language.

Unrelated, sort of, I mentioned to my wife the other day that a lot of Christmas music is piano. We have about 6 hours of previously ripped MP3's and WMA files that play off a little Bose speaker via WiFi and there are a lot of pieces played on piano.

What makes Vince Guaraldi’s piano compositions so memorable is (I think) that his chords are so incredibly rich, they form the base of every composition and I can’t think of any modern composer as good at that as he was.

"The scepter will not depart from Judah, nor the ruler's staff from between his feet, until (Shiloh) He comes to whom it belongs, and the obedience of the nations is His."
