Well, commies aren't people, but not everyone on Bluesky is a communist.
Bluesky is the place where Matt Yglesias is being mass blocked for only being a communist instead of actual Stalin. So yes, everyone there is a commie, that’s the table stakes. Posted by: Ian S. at December 19, 2024 04:14 AM (QZThv) 11

"Over the last 2 years the famous Linux project has attacked and mass-banned non-Leftists. Now there's nobody left to run openSUSE." It's fairly clear that no one can secure any system and that no one is really trying to secure systems and data to begin with. There is little to no practical consequence for failing to secure systems and data. So people will continue to put everyone and everything at risk.

Yup, saw that in the video I linked and I'm looking at another from 3 months ago ("Inclusivity Activists are Destroying Open Source"). I had no idea it had gotten this bad in open source projects. This is intentional. This is Antonio Gramsci's "Long March through the Institutions" put into action. This (like everything communism) is causing so much unnecessary pain and grief. In reality, Australia wants to ban encryption (or force the inclusion of back doors, "only for the good guys"*) because they want to spy on their own citizens. The Australian government officials all need a good swift kick in the ghoulies. Maybe more than one. * (And as we've seen from the Chinese pwning the phone networks of the world, if you include a back door to easily tap the system, it'll be hacked by the forces of darkness and used against you. The first recommendation: "Use only end-to-end encrypted communications."
- We're being allowed a glimpse. Government will be allowed encryption, but not you people who answer to government. They need to be able to see what you're doing at all times. Remember when the government agencies (IIRC feds and down were all doing it) were caught using special words and characters as well as S P A C I N G their terms out so that FOIA requests wouldn't return any results since they required specific words and phrases to be searched? I've got a small conjecture, if it even deserves to be called that, and which I'm not exactly wedded to, that it isn't the size of the government that matters, it's the competence and intrusiveness that matters. Things are fine with a huge, corrupt, crappy government, as long as they aren't obvious about it, and as long as the average person in their daily life isn't hampered or annoyed by it.
Go ahead. Skim off the top. Grease all your wheels. Make all the sausage you want. But don't get lazy. Don't get arrogant and think you can just boss people around for fun, or take money straight out of their wallet with a bold face. Sure, the parasitic effect of their crappiness is always a drag on society and commerce, but that might just be well enough offset by having the crooks and goons who relish in crappitude being insulated from the world of the decent. U.S. Weighs Ban on Chinese-Made Router in Millions of American Homes.
“TP-Link is the bestselling router on Amazon—and has been linked to Chinese cyberattacks.” The router-manufacturer TP-Link, established in China, has roughly 65% of the U.S. market for routers for homes and small businesses. It is also the top choice on Amazon.com, and powers internet communications for the Defense Department and other federal government agencies. Investigators at the Commerce, Defense and Justice departments have opened their own probes into the company, and authorities could ban the sale of TP-Link routers in the U.S. next year, according to people familiar with the matter. An office of the Commerce Department has subpoenaed TP-Link, some of the people said. Posted by: SMOD at December 19, 2024 09:14 AM (RHGPo) 208

Got this message:
Parallels is Virtual Machine (VM) software for the Mac. It allows me to run Windows, Linux and old versions of MacOS on my Mac. I was banned from Parallel's support forum for asking why Parallels Desktop for Mac connects to a Chinese website (parallels.cn) when it starts up. I showed a screen capture of Parallels trying to connect to the site. Posted by: SMOD at December 19, 2024 08:40 PM (GITLP) Processing 0.03, elapsed 0.0446 seconds. |
