The Saturday Night Joke - Part I

A husband in his back yard is trying to fly a kite. He throws the kite up in the air, the wind catches it for a few seconds, then it comes crashing back down to earth. He tries this a few more times with no success.

All the while, his wife is watching from the kitchen window, muttering to herself how men need to be told how to do everything.

She opens the window and yells to her husband, "You need a piece of tail."

The man turns with a confused look on his face and says, "Make up your mind. Last night, you told me to go fly a kite." (H/T AZ deplorable moron)

Previously political news never really hit the Saturday ONT. But tonight is a little different.

Disagree with that Mystery Click? Take it up with someone who cares, please.

And, the reason for the season...........

*****

*****

Several questions come to mind:
1) Where is your Hefty Bag Burka?
2) Was your brother Halal?
3) Did you know you are tonight's Genius Award Winner?

DECEMBER 12--Incensed that relatives were “praying to Jesus in her house,” a Florida Woman (via Tehran, Iran) who told cops she “prays using the Quran and does not believe in Jesus” allegedly battered one of the visitors, an attack that landed her behind bars.

According to an arrest affidavit, the verbal praying dispute between Sherri Chegini, 58, and her brother, Peter Chegini, a 63-year-old contractor, turned violent yesterday morning.

Savannahs are a relatively new breed. No one I knew with cats ever had one. Vicious Siamese, sure, back before they bred out some of that attitute. Same when I was a kid with Dobies. They were mean dogs, but now are more docile. I'm still wary around them, though. But from the vids I've seen of Savannahs, if I want something high energy that won't claw me to death, I'll get a Husky or an Australian Sheep Dog. They also require lots of time. I guess I'm just a dog guy. Don't know horses, don't hate cats, just love dogs.

The thought of Georgie Boy contributing to Trump's library? Priceless.

Ahemm. Oh well.

Well maybe.

People would crowd the big name from wherever at one stage, while local or sensible people would be at the Gospel Tent to hear Aaron Neville or over to hear a rockin' zydeco band or maybe The Soul Queen of New Orleans (I met het before she won her first Grammy. Good cook too)

I'm in Canada taking care of my elderly mother. We bought a Generac when all supply lines were crazy. It was about 10 months until it came in.

Natural gas. Works beautifully. Hasn't been used much.

Now, if the beers don't fully kick in, I'm going to bitch about the three cats that were in the house a few minutes ago. Snowflake and Trumpy who pissed me off the last 36 hours.

And their mother Starry, beautiful cat, actually came inside and explored the house for 30 minutes. Was VERY comfortable. But it was a horrible day and I was happy she left. But she and I are dear friends. I took care of her when she was an indoor cat.

But, it was too much today.

It was a horrible day but I was an amazing Moron and really helped my friends.

Like all of you would.

U.S. national security officials sought to dispel concerns about the mysterious drones flying over the Northeast in a recent call with reporters, one going as far as describing nationwide uneasiness as "a slight overreaction."

The call, attended by Fox News Digital Saturday, was hosted by senior Biden administration officials, including representatives from the FBI, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the National Security Council (NSC), the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Department of Defense (DOD).

The senior officials remained tight-lipped about the origins of the drones, which are still being investigated.

309 My encounter.

Bicentennial Day, Midnight, my friend Joe and I were outside stargazing. Rural location, very still night. He was telling me how his younger brother and friends, driving, had been chased through Arkansas woods and small towns by a UFO that stayed on top of them, shining a light on them.

Joe lived on a hill from which he could see the approach paths to two city airports. He said, so, anything in those paths is presumably aircraft, and what you want to watch for is anything outside of there.

He said, like, look at this — a seeming airplane south of us, heading north, as if to the local airport. If you see planes on that path, he said… As we watched, it got closer. Standard plane lights, but as it came closer, seemingly just a half-mile or less west of us, apparently flying low, we realized there was no noise of jet or prop. We listened carefully, and seemed to hear only the air blowing around a large object, but still no motor noise.

It continued north and out of sight over the trees.

In 50 years, never saw a craft on that path, at night, much less silent. Because of the timing of its appearance, I had that weird feeling that the Aliens were just messing with us.

325 It was already a horrible day.

My friends across the street have bunkies they rent out. Tiny. One has a bed. You go outside to the other one which is the bathroom. Toilet and a foot pump for water to wash yourself.

They are very nice. Heated. Nice bed. Decorated. Impressively nice.

I was skeptical at first but kept my fucking mouth quiet to not curse them. We are in a tiny town. But there's a market for that. $75 Canadian for a nice room...kind of like camping...versus over double that for a hotel.

A nice cheap room to sleep. Construction workers. People that want to get away.

I had the Army Navy game on and got a call on my tablet. I was five beers in but soberish.

Something broke for the guy in the bunkie and there was water. As my friend was asking for my help, I dropped the tablet, gathered towels and bags and raced over there.

The guest, Matt, was a nice guy in his 20's. He lives with his parents but likes to get out. I'm a caregiver. Preach.

There was something that shattered when he touched it. Maybe temperature related. Whatever. I chatted with him, cleaned everything up.

I’ve seen a few things I can’t explain in the skies. A couple of years ago a big storm front was moving in, lots of wind, I went outside to look at it. Looked to the east and saw something with that infamous triangle shape moving at good speed opposite to the direction the wind was blowing, so that got my attention. It was still daylight; the hardest thing to explain is that I mainly saw the outline of it; I realized that I could also see right through it as it moved. Made it almost impossible to describe

Right then and there I started wondering if I was nuts, and then it passed behind a clump of trees and was gone. I felt relieved that it was gone, and then it came back out from behind them and headed on in its original bearings.

I don’t know if cloaking exists, but that’s exactly how I would imagine a cloaked craft would look.

330 Empty net works enough to make it sensible. Plus, it's a low- or no-risk approach. Usually done at 1 minute left, I think there were some teams (not sure which level) that started pulling their goalie earlier (and not just when down by 2), and stats showed it paid off.

In any case the most egregiously bad pattern in pro hockey today is the ridiculous and nearly always futile attempt to get a "clear" shot on net during power plays, involving 8-12 passes before a shot (eating up the clock).

It's become sort of comical. Last game I attended, both teams killed their own power plays with this approach. It doesn't work because 1) few shots from more than 40 feet are going to cleanly beat many goalies 2) the "one-timer" that's always the object is often from a bad angle 3)players are too big and quick now, no most of the passing achieves nothing.

In the same game, both teams scored by .... quick shots on the net, with traffic in front. Duh.

In the glory days of the Soviet national team, they were trained and disciplined to take only 70-80% shots (chance of scoring from that angle), which is a faily narrow cone extending out from the crease.

I bought myself an extra 6 pack because yesterday was a really shitty day and a bottle of red wine from Chili.

I brought it back to him and said my friends would like him to have that for the inconvenience.

And I told him, the town park, lit up with a ton of Christmas lights was literally a one minute walk away. We live right next to the park. Beautifully decorated. Tons of lights for a small town.

Matt was very happy to hear that and said he'd check it out after some wine.

Nice kid. Glad he learned about that.

And I told him how wonderful my friends are and he's very happy to give them a great review.

• Netanyahu published a video message on Thursday (12th) addressing the people of Iran following the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s regime in Syria.
“As we see history unfold before our very eyes, I can only imagine what you’re feeling right now.  Your oppressors spent over 30 billion dollars supporting Assad in Syria.  Today, after only 11 days of fighting his regime collapsed into the dust,”

Posted by: Braenyard - some absent friends are more equal than others at December 15, 2024 12:59 AM (Exvay)

342 “But you suffer under the rule of a regime that subjugates you and threatens us,” he said. “You know what this regime is truly terrified of? It’s terrified of you, the people of Iran. And one day, I know that, one day this will change. One day Iran will be free.”

Netanyahu cited the chant “Women, Life, Freedom,” which became the rallying cry of mass anti-government protests in Iran in 2022 after the death of Mahsa Amini ...

“That is the future of Iran,” he added. “That is the future of peace. And I have no doubt that we will realize that future together – a lot sooner than people think. I know and I believe we will transform the Middle East into a beacon of prosperity, progress and peace.”

The Mullah’s have shown great weakness, and even cowardice any time they face the prospect of actually having a real war with Israel. It’s looking like the only thing they’re good at is oppressing their own people, and this perception of weakness is often the kiss of death for any dictatorial regime.

Btw all the early warning radars and AAA missile sites that were supposed to protect Iran from Israeli air attack were part of all that hardware in Syria that Israel just vaporized.

365 I bought a Honda eu2000 in 2008 great Generator.

But, it does have a known issue of intermittent On/Off switch. This took me longer to discover than it should have. It’s a Honda. It should start easy. I was ready to throw it off a cliff. Disconnect the switch.

The weird thing about the carburetor. It has an idle adjustment mixture screw. With a limiter cap to prevent adjusting too far out.

It is designed to break in half if removed. Have to by a new one to re-install. And then place it 2 and 5/8 turns out. Reinstall limiter cap.

All I ever did with an idle mixture screw was trim it out for smooth running depending on ambient temp. There’s always a “sweet spot”. That’s why there is a screw adjustment needle jet, instead of a fixed orifice size. If they could have saved 50c they would have.

So Emissions have made this whole thing silly. I think - maybe - the adjustment can be made leaner. Though not too rich, because of the limiter cap. But I’m not certain, and afraid to touch it.

I jetted it for altitude, and it just sips the fuel. But it still fouls plugs a little bit, if they are just loafed along as generators sometimes are.
