This erosion of institutional trust has been fueled, in part, by some of the spectacularly wrong calls the U.S. intelligence community has made over recent years.

Republicans hate women that's why so many serve in high positions in Republican administrations and the first woman SCJ nominated by a Republican.
Also the Republican Party was formed specifically as the anti slave party and the Republicans voted in higher percentage than Democrats for the Civil Rights Act while the Democrats filibustered it. 13 How old does a firearm have to be be antique?
Posted by: fd Older than 1898. There are some specific firearms that are considered qualifying in 1898 as the ban begins technically in the middle of that year. But, unless you have serial numbers related to the date of mfg, then safer not to consider those as antiques. Altered antiques present a problem under the antiques qualification as well. If you tried to make a semi auto firearm out of an old 1893 Mauser then it would count as a modern firearm subsequently (Ludwig and Loewe mfg mark always counts as an antique of this model because they merged with another firm prior to 1898 cutoff date). So don't do that as the laws are vague about the degree of alterations needed to make an antique back into a modern firearm subject to federal firearm laws. Posted by: whig at December 13, 2024 05:53 PM (ctrM5) 53
We need to keep repeating the *Real* reason Tulsi is hated so much by the Democrats and the Deep State, especially now that she's joined up with Trump.
In 2016, Tulsi was a co-chair of the DNC, a rising star, the Democrats thought she was great. But then came her Great Crime - she said publicly that it was corrupt for the Democrats to rig their primaries in favor of Hillary in order to make sure that Bernie lost. This infuriated Hillary, and THIS is when the "Russia Russia Russia!" claims started about Tulsi, just like they were starting for Trump. Hillary and her people have *never* forgiven her for this, and she successfully drove Tulsi out of the party. So of course Tulsi came into Trump's orbit, what other choice did she have? And that made the rest of the Dem Party hate her just as much as Hillary did. Posted by: Tom Servo at December 13, 2024 05:53 PM (wyMQY) 54

C&R has a moving window of fifty years from the current date for a firearm in original configuration but you have to have a federal C&R license in order to trade across states with one and are required to have a bound volume with acquisition and sales and if you do it primarily for a profit can be subject to being an illegal firearms dealer.
There is a loophole on the time as some Sov Bloc weapons qualified as issued by a non existent country and thus collectible. So something from Czechoslovakia or Yugoslavia became C&R firearms as those countries are defunct. Posted by: whig at December 13, 2024 05:58 PM (ctrM5) 69

BTW, regarding antique firearms, they generally have a higher price tag for a model that can be proved to be an antique versus one that is a year later but covered by federal firearm laws.
An 1897 model Winchester shotgun is merely one example as are 1893, 1894, and 1895 Mausers (made from 1893 to the 1930's in some cases). A few Broomhandler Mausers count as antiques as well as some Krag rifles. Posted by: whig at December 13, 2024 06:03 PM (ctrM5) 87

Bookwise my favorite genre is spy novels. Always enjoyed the ones involving the CIA, for or against, when it was glamorized. Also liked detective stuff but now my enjoyment would be tempered if the FBI were involved.
So real world facts have destroyed a couple of really good genres for the foreseeable future. I hope Kash can really clean up that place or shut it down and start a new one, different name, different mission an different staff. Also remove it from DoJ. Analogously, close down the whole of the State Dept. It's been the source of most instability in the world forever. Final suggestion, rename DoD to War Department - wasn't that it's original name? Cheaper to shoot and the Martini Action, if not abused was made of premium steel at the time. Common conversion in Commonwealth nations. That could technically run afoul of original condition laws though for acquisitions. What concerns me is the lack of candor or interest of the DOD, Federal Law enforcement and the current administration in finding out just what's up. They took the same approach with those "balloons", and it was less than optimal. Last night someone set up a webcam stream on the Jersey shore which airlines use as an approach to the NY airports, and you could see a bunch of them whizzing around doing their light show. The valid aircraft was obvious....as were the drones (which I'm told aren't showing up on radar). And, this is on both the east and the west coast (Oregon specifically). Posted by: Ace-Endorsed Author A.H. Lloyd It is buried in murky rules and technical letters sent to inquirers. One no no, I think, is converting an antique to fire modern ammo but as that also applies to antiques post 1899 due to non existent mfg of ammo, not sure about that. There is an odd Boys Rifle that has a short barrel which the ATF exempted from their SBR regulations of the NFA on the ground that it was a collectible, single shot, and shot only .22 rimfire ammo. Put a new barrel on it and convert one to a 22 Magnum, it becomes a modern firearm subject to SBR rules and ATF regulations. Posted by: whig at December 13, 2024 06:16 PM (ctrM5) 139

Besides, Trump has a series of rulings that have seriously strengthened his hand. Remember the guy who got fired from his West Point appointment by Biden?
