Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | The Morning Rant: Minimalist Edition![]() In just one year, President Javier Milei has transformed Argentina’s economic landscape, slashing the national budget deficit to zero for the first time in 123 years. This is a historic milestone in his presidency, which began on December 10, 2023. Milei took over an economy crippled by rampant inflation, where supermarkets had to adjust prices daily. However, with his aggressive cutbacks to the size of the state, often symbolized by his wielding a chainsaw, Milei has steered the country back toward fiscal stability. Argentinian inflation plummeted from a staggering 200 percent in 2023 to a mere 2.7 percent by October 2024. This dramatic reduction was celebrated by Milei in a recent broadcast, in which he stated, “The deficit was the root of all our evils—without it, there’s no debt, no emission, no inflation. Today, we have a sustained fiscal surplus, free of default, for the first time in 123 years.” That is in one year. Think what Donald Trump can do in four years, and then realize that no economic policy, no government program, no deficit spending can revive an economy faster than simply allowing the people to make their own economic decisions. That's what deficit reduction allows, and that is the glory of the free market. Donald Trump and his capable advisors have the opportunity to take Javier Milei's grand experiment with Argentina and extrapolate it to the biggest economy on earth. We saw what Donald Trump's mostly rational economic and government policies were able to achieve during his first term. Simply decreasing regulation and government interference in the economy resulted in a truly impressive economic expansion. If that returns, and add to it a marked decrease in government spending, our economy will return to its former glory, with the opportunity for long-term economic growth that will go a long way toward repairing the damage done by the Biden junta's rabid spending and top down control of the economy. DOGE will be busy.
This was from zerohedge. BY TYLER DURDEN THURSDAY, DEC 12, 2024 - 08:55 AM We thought last month's US budget deficit was bad. Boy, were we wrong. It is only fitting that the twilight days of the Biden admin would exhibit more of the same fakeness that defined not only all of the past four years, but certainly the fakeness of that Kamala Harris presidential campaign which had a billion dollars a month ago and ended up in failure, broke... and millions in debt. We are talking, of course, about the relentless debt-funded spree that somehow became synonymous with economic success in the US. According to the latest Treasury data released today, in November - the second month of fiscal 2025 - the US spent a massive $584.2 billion, a 14% increase from the prior year, and a record for the month of November. For those who remember out outrage from a month ago, will also remember that the latest deficit number follows what was also a record government outlay for the month of October. In south america, Argentina is looked down on, for its continual economic problems and the fact that they talk funny .
They all will hate Argentina more since Milei just showed it is possible to get a deficit under control without all the austerity and haircuts and defaults. Argentina is still having problems, though. Lots and lots of political infighting. Posted by: Kindltot at December 12, 2024 11:23 AM (D7oie) 81
Is Trump still mulling over some "inner city rehabilitation" efforts for NYC and Washington D.C.? He mentioned both cities with a desire to do some major cleaning up. Huge sums of federal monies.
In my opinion, a phenomenal waste of money and an sure fire way to increase federal graft. If he's still jonesing on that he needs a swift kick in the balls. Posted by: Martini Farmer at December 12, 2024 11:23 AM (Q4IgG) 82

Whenever we talk about gov't spending one of the first things anyone ever brings up is entitlements are 100% of spending, yadda yadda... so don't bother.
Since 2008, there hasn't even been a budget. each year they just pass % increases to everything. There is so much fat to cut... why don't we just start the chainsaw up and see where it lands ok? The only thing that's going to make a noticeable dent in our spending is reigning in entitlement spending. The majority of the money is not being spent on operating the government--it's going out in handouts: SS, Medicare, welfare, and who knows what else. Think what Donald Trump can do in four years, and then realize that no economic policy, no government program, no deficit spending can revive an economy faster than simply allowing the people to make their own economic decisions. That's what deficit reduction allows, and that is the glory of the free market.
Amen. My personal policy has been to invest, live in the black, and not be a burden to others. Apply this with rigor to the Federal government and it should follow that a newly revived generational national wealth will set the foundation, the conditions for a ripe expansion of individual generational wealth and liberty. Except for Elizabeth Warren, Indian princess extraordinaire, since she already got hers the old fashioned way by being a burden to everyone else. On the ONT, Ciampino linked to the UK Daily Mail story with the headline: New twist in Nancy Mace 'assault' as witnesses reveal fresh details https://mol.im/a/14184103 So, I dig through the article and get down to paragraph 8: But now eye witnesses are coming forward saying they don't buy Mace's recollection of events. I scroll past a bunch of pictures looking for those "eye witnesses," and find the next paragraph: 'From what I saw, it was a normal handshake and interaction that I would expect any legislator to expect from anyone as a constituent,' Elliott Hinkle, LGBT advocate Elliot Hinkle told The Imprint. (([sic] on the double Hinkle.)) Unless I missed it, that was the only mention of any "eye witnesses" coming forward. 'You don't hate the corporate media enough,' she said. The Mail did their best to illustrate that, looks like. _____ 'One new brace for my wrist and some ice for my arm and it’ll heal just fine,' Mace posted on social media. The problem will likely get worse before it gets better. New technologies are lowering the barrier to entry into the homemade ghost gun game. AI chatbots can even provide assistance to novices, even if they won’t help directly. Ask Microsoft’s Copilot to tell you how to build a 3D printed gun, and it’ll say it can’t because “creating 3D printed firearms involves significant legal and safety risks.” But if you ask Copilot for guides on making 3D-printed firearms, you’ll get a host of links to “comprehensive” online manuals for manufacturing the weapons at home.

Republican Reps. Adrian Smith of Nebraska and Chuck Edwards of North Carolina sent a letter to the president-elect on Tuesday urging him to end the program via executive order, saying that the program poses a "threat to taxpayers' freedom from government overreach."
The letter was signed by 27 other Republicans and is also addressed to Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy, the co-leads of DOGE. Smith and Edwards argued in their letter that the program represents a conflict of interest for the IRS — that the agency should not be in charge of both assessing taxes and enforcing tax crimes. The duo wrote that the agency "has little incentive to ensure hardworking Americans do not pay more than they owe in taxes." Posted by: SMOD at December 12, 2024 11:33 AM (RHGPo) 137

The issue is that under ObamaCare, the hospitals were made the linchpin of the whole medical system. And they are among the least efficient and most expensive providers in the entire system. The ACA took a very expensive health care system and made it even more expensive. It needs to be repealed, and all regulation insulating hospitals from competition repealed.
There are a bunch of bad players in the US healthcare system -including patients who ant someone else to pay for their healthcare needs, but in a sea of villains, the hospitals generally are the most heinous. Posted by: Black JEM at December 12, 2024 11:47 AM (GZYu7) 194

Posted by: Black JEM Routine care should not be insured. Emergency room care should have a surcharge. I would prefer that health insurance be outlawed and make it all cash, except for catastrophic coverage. On the current path, we are headed towards national health care, which is even more expensive, and results in massive wait lists, so essentially no care; you either heal before treatment or die before treatment. Posted by: Thomas Paine at December 12, 2024 11:47 AM (OwXJq) == You're right routine care should be self pay. And hospitals should re-absorb total control of billing for their emergency rooms instead of allowing 3rd party doc groups to come in and work up patients in order to maximize billing. Most employer plans already have stipulations for ER use. That certainly needs to continue. Non-profit hospitals need to quit treating their ER departments as profit centers. Posted by: People's Hippo Voice ======= Rock Auto and Carid are both excellent online stores for autoparts. Summit Racing as well. Even Amazon but you have to wade through a lot of chineseum fake parts to get real ones. I triangulate via identifying the OEM part number and description, then getting prices from each source. Some decent online Factory Authorized Auto Dealers can also work for those parts you have to get from OEM dealers themselves. For whatever reason, I've found for my particular older cars that a fair number of these dealers are in Florida but if you need parts immediately and are in an urban area, you can also use Auto MFG websites now to get parts, prices, and live inventory from dealers around your location. If I use that tool, I always call before I waste time going to a dealer when their inventory is wrong. Same for Autozone, Advance, or O'Reilly. Posted by: Gentlemen, time for a reckoning at December 12, 2024 11:59 AM (rxh+B) however, they were hurting before Milei, and the Minister of Security, Bullrich, seems to be willing to break heads at need to tamp down riots. Milei has a cabinet that seems willing to back his play. You know the stupidest part about the modern obsession with "OMG! I must have health insurance or I'll die if I get sick!"
I would like to see health insurance as it is now destroyed and returned to catastrophic events only. There is no possible way you can save money with health insurance (unless you have a catastrophic illness). It may seem possible but only because employers pay much of the premiums. It is a huge waste of money and time. Posted by: Ripley at December 12, 2024 12:05 PM (GUOwU) 258
226 I'm getting a passport so I can do medical tourism.
Posted by: BourbonChicken India has a few cities dedicated to that. But I was advised to not try it by an Indian dude that works at the Red Cross because it's a "filthy fucking country." Posted by: NR Pax at December 12, 2024 12:05 PM (NR6c1) 259
Get illegals off and go thru the multiple SSN accounts.... oh and chop off 90% of the SSDI claims as well. There are ways to save SS other than cutting benefits to people that put into the system.

Oh. And I saw that Trump says if you invest $1 billion into the US economy, you'll get all the red tape cut. Maybe Ontario will stop throwing a snit fit about pulling their trade shipments now and get in line.
There was the weirdest Ontario TV ad on Fox News, it wasn't for tourism, but to remind us what an important trade partner they are for the US. Never seen anything like it. Trump has Trudeau scared. Posted by: LizLem at December 12, 2024 12:05 PM (wcIbG) 261
People don't understand The Laffer Curve.
The concept is reviled by the Left because it is association with Republican administrations (Ford and Reagan), but they fail to grasp that the Laffer Curve is at its very core a Leftist notion. Why? Becasue the whole point of the Laffer Curve is to pinpoint the tax rate at which government tax revenue is maximized. "Conservatives" argue that the peak of the Laffer Curve is somewhere around 30%. "Liberals" argue that the peak of the Laffer Curve is somewhere around 70%. But either way, the GOAL is to maximize tax revenue so as to MAXIMIZE GOVERNMENT SPENDING. Why should maximizing government spending even be the goal? The government should spend at little as possible, and thus tax as little as possible, EVEN IF MORE TAX REVENUE COULD BE RAISED. THe goal shpuld,be freedom, and letting people keep their money. Posted by: zombie at December 12, 2024 12:06 PM (pMi6S) 262
>>>Hazard insurance for homes in Florida must be for full New construction cost.
Maybe other states too... You bet your ass I hope that hurricane will take my roof off! ***** On my policy here in Florida, hurricane coverage is under its own rider. It is separate from the other hazard provisions such as fire, hail, windstorms (non-hurricane) and the like. Posted by: one hour sober at December 12, 2024 12:07 PM (Y1sOo) 263

A big difference between health and auto insurance: illegals can't get free repairs at the shop, like they do at the ER.
Everyone is bitching about auto insurance rate inflation, and attribute it to the cost of cars/parts -- wrong. Collision coverage is cheap -- under $100/year. You lay through the nose for LIABILITY and UNINSURED MOTORIST coverage. Jubilee, my friends.
35?? Trillion, plus 450 T in unfunded pensions. Fob James, Governor of Alabama, who I met once, said he'd run for one term, and he balanced the budget, and perhaps even paid it off. He did what he said. Next guy went into debt. I strongly support the DOGE efforts. After the Jubilee, we need lower expenses, after all. And also, less gov't power. This is not the time to cry to God and say "God I'm really meaning it this time, I'll do better.". No 'tis time to cry to God and say 'God, have mercy on me, on us, on my children, and my grandchildren.' Posted by: Eric2 at December 12, 2024 12:27 PM (hSVY4) 269
We have a team of highly successful business people tasked with cutting gov't. Finally. Let's see what they can do.
Posted by: JackStraw at December 12, 2024 11:45 AM I certainly hope they are allowed to do so. We all know what happened in November 1963 the last time an Administration tried to cut the Deep State. They have already made half-ass attempts to take out President Trump twice. And Musk's life is probably at risk 24/7 as well. This next administration is working to take down not just the Deep State and the US government establishment waste of American taxpayer dollars, but also working to foil the WEF plans for Western civilization in general (mass illegal migration/invasion of third world to Western nations; "climate change" policies affecting energy industry, auto industry and food industry; healthcare policies like vaccines; gender dysphoria and child mutilation and reproduction prohibition policies; child sex trafficking industry). Massive undertaking that will be affecting major enemies of Western civilization still in control of the Discover the Networks networks. Posted by: Clyde Shelton at December 12, 2024 12:31 PM Prior to the attempts on President Trump's life, I would not have been worried about this very much. For me (born 1976, not paying attention to politics until 09/12/2001), political assassinations were just things that happened before I was born or politically aware. JFK, Bobby Kennedy, MLK, Jr, attempts against Ford and Reagan. But after the two attempts this summer against President Trump and the reaction of the Marxist left and the Democrat Party in general to those attempts, not to mention their reaction to the successful murder of the healthcare CEO and encouraging more, not to mention the support for burning-looting-murdering and antifa, it worries me more and more.
