And while Congress may have appropriated money for foreign aid, the people who decide which countries get it are more often than not unelected bureaucrats with a clear agenda that does not mesh with the desires of the American people. And even with clear direction from Congress, it's mostly wasted! $6,000,000 in 2022 to boost Egyptian tourism? When the security of Ukraine's border has a higher priority than our own border, something is broken. When Americans have no clean water three months after a devastating hurricane, something is broken. When our bridges are falling down and our roads are crumbling, something is broken. I truly, truly hate that particular analogy when the left is trying to pass some horrible new tax bill: "it will only cost 25 cents a day! That's less than a cup of coffee! Can't you spend 25 cents to help those in need?"

We need a Constitutional amendment that prohibits the Federal Government disbursing money to any individual person, legal entity, or foreign state except as salaries, payment for goods provided or services rendered, just compensation for a taking, or payment of legal damages as determined by a court of law.
The only thing we should pay other countries for is when we acquire territory from them. I think the last time we did that was when we bought the Virgin Islands from Denmark in 1917.

It's only "25 cents a day" when you divide it between every man woman and child. Change the denominator to taxpayers and it becomes a couple dollars a day or 14 bucks a week. How many "14 bucks a week" or "60 dollars a month" can the average taxpayer afford to hand to bureaucrats?

But TBH that's still not the problem with housing costs exploding.
A) When you increase the population of the country it increases the demand for housing. Which means higher prices
B) When you put restrictions on construction for environmental and safety reasons you increase the cost
C) Every Bidenbuck the government spends increases inflation, which is running at over 10%/year.
So, yes people should be encouraged to save money better for big purchases...but we need to make the government stop intentionally making the problem worse

Theres a guy on X who goes by the name @Oilfield_Rando who has created a bot that scours federal spending databases. He posts the results on X under the name @Randoland.us.
Everyday it's an endless stream of some of the most obscene and maddening wastes of billions of US tax dollars on things like "$5,000,000 to study the effects of climate change on one legged hookers in Egypt.".
That is only a very mild exaggeration.

One of Egypt's largest sources of revenue is tourism, so American dollars flowing in to see the cool old stuff. On top of that we prop them up with $6M? Screw that.

In the 90s or so a dime of every dollar reached the intended/pretended destination of funding. I'm sure it's less than one penny now.
Also I remember it was discussed here in Obama's 1st term that the federal government was doing the equivalent of wrecking a brand new Acura TL every... minute? It was ~35K. At then end of his second term someone pointed out that it had become the equivalent of totaling a $100K SL Mercedes. All within 8 years.
It's hard to imagine where we must be now. A $300K home burning to the ground with little to show for it every minute?

Thx CBD. The problem with even cutting foreign side is that it is filled with a lot of grift. It eventually finds its way into campaign coffers or straight to pockets. The Floyd County Bomb Squad, which the officer is a member of, responded to the congresswoman’s home about the reported threat on Monday.
The accident happened on Redmond Circle while the officer was on the way to Greene’s home, according to Georgia State Patrol.
Troopers said a car pulled out in front of the officer, who was driving his personal vehicle.
The other driver, later identified as Tammie Pickelsimer, 66, died after she was taken to the hospital, according to troopers.

OK OT. I use the VA My healthy Vet site to keep track of scrips, lab, and stuff. They are changing things for "security" reasons and it is the most convoluted mess you would ever see, like if you don't have a smart phone to take a pic of your DL, go to a participating Post Office (they know what they're doing). I just made another stab and got the security code sent to my phone, and they say the phone is invalid after I gave them the code. I'm smelling people that had to create a project to keep their job.
