The Blue Man Group, the long standing and beloved off Broadway show, will end its 34 year run in New York City in the new year. Blue Man Group will also end performances in Chicago on Jan. 5, while it will continue in the other cities. The company did not give a reason for the New York and Chicago closures.Hmmm.... when the shows in Las Vegas, Orlando, Boston, Berlin, a touring show, and a Norwegian Cruise Line show continue and the only places that get shut down are New York and Chicago, seems reasonable to ask whether the issue is those locations rather than the Blue Men. Since 2020, I have received over a thousand complaints about President Elect Trumps use of Y.M.C.A. With that many complaints, I decided to ask the President Elect to stop using Y.M.C.A. because his use had become a nuisance to me. However, the use continued because the Trump campaign knew they had obtained a political use license from BMI and absent that license being terminated, they had every right to continue using Y.M.C.A. And they did. In fact, I started noticing numerous artists withdrawing the President Elects use of their material. But by the time I said to my wife one day, hey, Trump seems to genuinely like Y.M.C.A. and hes having a lot of fun with it.
As such, I simply did not have the heart to prevent his continued use of my song in the face of so many artists withdrawing his use of their material. So I told my wife to inform BMI to not withdraw the Trump campaign political use license. The financial benefits have been great as well as Y.M.C.A. is estimated to gross several million dollars since the President Elects continued use of the song. Therefore, I am glad I allowed the President Elects continued use of Y.M.C.A. And I thank him for choosing to use my song.
There has been a lot of talk, especially of late, that Y.M.C.A. is somehow a gay anthem. As I have said numerous times in the past, that is a false assumption. I therefore wrote Y.M.C.A. about the things I knew about the Y in the urban areas of San Francisco such as swimming, basketball, track, and cheap food and cheap rooms. And when I say, hang out with all the boys that is simply 1970s black slang for black guys hanging out together for sports, gambling or whatever. There is nothing gay about that. Therefore, since I wrote the lyrics and ought to know what the lyrics I wrote is really about, come January 2025, my wife will start suing each and every news organization that falsely refers to Y.M.C.A., either in their headlines or alluded to in the base of the story, that Y.M.C.A. is somehow a gay anthem because such notion is based solely on the songs lyrics alluding to elicit activity for which it does not. However, I do not mind that gays think of the song as their anthem. The true anthem is Y.M.C.A.s appeal to people of all strips including President Elect Trump. But the song is not really a gay anthem other than certain people falsely suggesting that it is. And this must stop because it is damaging to the song.
Intercollegiate and interscholastic football contest limitationsThe text restricts professional football from broadcasting games when there are high school or college games nearby. The original intent was to ensure that professional football did not wipe out amateur football that is usually played on Friday nights and Saturdays. Historically, there have been no professional games on Friday. Last year changed that when Amazon started hosting a game. How could the NFL and Amazon make that happen legally? Start the game at 3pm ET! This is also why no professional football games are played on Saturday until late December when high school football is done and college football has only bowl games remaining. Now you know. If D.C. were to get control of the RFK Stadium site, the city could redevelop the area, and it would be viewed as a major advantage for the District in potentially getting the team to play there.TRex does not understand such things but is looking around to see what he can trade for a jet squadron.

So named *not* because the school was originally held in the old Yuma Territorial Prison but because the first year they fielded a Varsity football team they 'stole' the state title from the school that had owned it for years.
School colors and nice solid blue and white and a classic crew-cut, square-jawed tough for a mascot.
One of my friends was a red head (really bright orange) and played tuba in the marching band so instead of a dark blue shako he got to wear a brilliant baby blue beret. It was definitely a look.

There was actually a Blue Man School in Lower Manhattan for kids from preschool to eighth grade. Cost was north of $60K per year. Closed last year.

Thanks for the assist various hordlings (Bertram?). I'm terrible with names. I bought a Beelink mini-PC and instead of Linux Ubuntu, it came with Win11. I'll give Win11 a spin, but I suspect that next week, I'm putting Ubuntu on it. So far, Win11 is acting like Win10, more or less, but Microsoft is bloated trash and likes spying. Meddlesome OS.
Also, it wasn't the 'Del' button. F7 got me into the boot menu. Still, pushing Del helped me noticed the tiny notice on the bottom of the screen on how to get in the boot menu.

The WW I deaths are largely "died in camp," "died of sickness" with very few being combat casualties. With WW II hardly any sickness, more accidents, play crashes, ships being sunk and combat. Very sobering.

WWII western front in 1941 happened very fast and was during late Spring/early Summer so not a big bug incubator. Eastern front was awful on both sides pretty much the entire time but especially late Fall to early Spring. By the time we got ashore in France and got going in '44 our medical services had gotten much more advanced + penicillin which had only become practicably available a year or so before.

He is adjusting something, whilst the loudest fucking sound I’ve ever heard in my life ensued. Insane. Musta been adjusting the idle mixture on the Holley, or somethin’.

I had to shovel a mess of that today. Yesterday's Chinook caused snow to slide off the metal roofs of both my little shop in the garage, and the big shop next to it. Blocking the man door in the first, and the car ramp in the second. Shit was like concrete, alright. Had to break out chunks with a floor scraper, and fling them aside with a snow scoop. Hard work for a 29 year-old.

No, although might be a future option. The car was bought in Boston, shipped to Alberta without engine or transmission, sold to a collector, who installed a 283 engine sourced from a 1966 Studebaker sedan (based on engine serial number). 1965 and 1966 Studebakers, built only Hamilton, Ontario, used engines bought in from the GM McKinnon engine plant in St. Catharines, Ontario. 283 V8's and 194 sixes. Identical engines to their "Chevy" branded counterparts, other than the paint. It's hooked up to a Chevy TH350 automatic, which did not come out of a Studebaker car; Studebaker used Warner gear automatics right to the bitter end.

Believe it or not, an AM-Fm radio was available as an option. My first Avanti, long since sold, had one. It barely worked. Current driver has no radio in it. When I get around to it, I will put in one of those little decks that do AM, FM, Bluetooth, and mp3's. No CD or tape transport at all.

Heh. I bought the car from a friend, who bought it from the Jack Anderson charity auction on behalf of Olds College in 2013. I attended the auction, and many of the cars were really poorly cobbled together. Tons of Bondo, and third-rate paint jobs. This car qualifies as "cobbled together", but I have the means to make it better. The 283 runs fine, so why change it out? The TH350 leaks fluid real bad, so swap in an 700R4, which I have. And the Dana model 27 rear axle is too wimpy for a "performance" car, so I have a genuine Avanti Dana 44 axle to replace it.
The car came to me with a "classic" AM-FM cassette player, but I have not installed it. But I have fixed a lot of faults since I bought it.

I worked with an older guy from downstate New York who told me that a friend of his had a car without a radio, so he painted up a chunk of board to look like it was a radio, because how could you have a car without a radio?
I asked if that was the same sort of guy that would drive around in the Summer with the windows rolled up so he looked like he had AC? He said he grew up with people like that and asked me how I knew about that.
The best part of summer is driving with the windows down, always has been.

A 1969 roadrunner had no radio as standard. An AM radio was a $62. AM/FM radio was $135, and an AM/FM with 8 track was a hair under $200. I guess that would be a tad pricey considering what an average weekly paycheck was in 1969.

You could cruise for a year and not see another on the road; pull in to the meet, and there's half a dozen in your color.
First trip for mine other than the long drive home was to Quebec. We lit off across northern Ohio, went about a hundred miles, and here coming the other way (from Youngstown, then) was a car carrier with half a dozen new ones. It may have been the last full shipment from that factory, I don't know, but it was quite a feeling.

I was about 10, and we stopped at the National Cemetary near St Louis to visit a graveside with a marker with 10 names, one of which was my mother's cousin. As mentioned above by WWD, some of the latter-day Avantis were on a Mustang platform. Also, they did not look very much like Avantis. The classic ones are body-on-frame construction, so "dropping" one on a unibody muscle car "frame" is problematic. You could buy an Art Morrison chassis, and go all LS1 power train, I guess. People do that, but cubic dollars are needed.

I used to go to YMCA day camp as a kid in the late 70s.
Boys and girls attended and there were male and female counselors. We'd start the days singing various camp songs (call and response, rounds, etc); YMCA was one of them. The Y itself was cool. I said the other day, if you remove the "he can hang out with all the boys" the lyrics don't really sound gay, they just describe the functions of the Y back then and how it could help troubled young men.
That said, I always thought it was a gay anthem.

We called my husband "Thog the grilling caveman" in fall because he was a college football religionist (UNL alum), and he cooked out every weekend on game day.
When he started the grill in the driveway (always close to the garage, and the car, which he used for a staging rack on the hood), he would douse the coal with fluid, and then drop a match.

The pool starts shrinking quickly when all this is taken in its totality. Given the profile of the victim the cops aren't going to let this one go and I would be surprised if FBI is involved. In 2001 a US DA was assassinated while in his Seattle home by a shot from outside - it is still unsolved - that is possible be here but it is unlikely. For right now, wow, just, wow.

Back in the day, many YMCAs ran what what, today, would be called a hostel. Male only, of course. Most were just that. I stayed in one in Philly once. Cheap lodging for one night.

Kind of a sidebar - back in 1998ish I lived in a neighborhood now mostly destroyed by lava flow (HI), guy cross the road was more-or-less regular guy, if not a bit too much Steinbeck ish... but known to be gay, not flaming doing drag time story time with kids, so nobody cared, anyway... While playing pool drinking beer telling lies he metioned "staying at the San Fran Y years ago..."

I just looked up 1975 Cadillac Fleetwood Eldorado as an example: V8 8.2L engine which produced 190 HP @ 3800 RPM and 360 Ft-Lbs @ 2000 RPM. Pretty excellent stump puller.
By comparison my 2024 RAV4's 4 cyl. 2.5L gets about 205HP @ 6600 RPM and 184 Ft-Lbs @ 5000 RPM. Stump puller? Not so much. Still.

I maintain that it is difficult to commit crimes in the cities today owing to the ubiquitous CCTV everywhere. You would need to steal a car out of town or use false tags, mask up, drive into the city, do the deed, drive out and dump the car where there are no cameras.
False or stolen tags are a problem owing to all the automatic and hand-held tag readers - they'll flag that as wrong car for the tag or tag doesn't come back to any registered vehicle.

Have a friend who can't eat the same thing two days in a row. Growing up, her Mom didn't work until she was much older. My Mom was working when I hit 2nd grade. Mom sometimes had leftovers the next day, maybe altered, like her mashed potatoes one day turned into potato pancakes the next. Amazing what a little flour can do. So having the same food a couple of days in a row was no big deal. And with certain food/meals, actually looked forward to having more than once. Like her homemade pizza. That was a cold breakfast food (before the Magical Age of Microwaves). When I did that, drove her crazy. But I always told her, one can eat any food hot, but can you eat it cold? That's the test of good food. She let up after a while, I guess 'cause she knew I wasn't going to stop having her cold pizza for breakfast. It was her yeasty bread roll dough.
