82 This is a lovely, simple portrait. He captured the smooth skin and color of a young woman. The pose suggests a gentle girl and her expression is a mix of appreciation and a bit of wishfulness. Krepinsky was good at showing expression in his portraits based on the others I saw on the Wiki page. A few of them had plants or flowers as a prop and they are nicely done. A bit of color and detail. I couldn't find any still life paintings by him but they might have been damn good.

I don't know what the title means beyond the obvious. Makes me think there was a story to go with the painting.

It's a bit more... irregular, if you believe some of the commentary coming out of the ROK. The "anti-state" activity is supposedly from DPRK agents embedded in the ROK's government. IOW, an attempted coup by North Korea using agents embedded in the South's government.

145 After quick look see at his work it seems Orest Kiprensky skills as a painter matured around 1815-ish. The later stuff, like Poor Lisa, are great portraits. It seems he had one great affair which strikes me as rather peculiar. From Wikipedia:

While in Italy [1816-1822] he met a local girl Anna Maria Falcucci (Mariucci) and bought her from her dissolute family [Really? You could buy a girl? I am guessing this was somewhat common] and kept her around as a ward. On leaving Italy, he sent her to a Roman Catholic convent [This is known as his "Here you go, I'm outta here" period]. In 1828 Orest receives news she disappeared. After finding her in another Italian convent he seems to have ditched her again until 1836 when he finally got around to marrying her and then to mess with her some more he promptly died later that year. In between all this he had time produce 226 paintings.

Painting verdict: Double Plus Good with minty overtones of schmaltzy Italian folk songs about about blood feuds, toxic relationships, pasta dishes and Romans. Would Hang.

Me too. At a short length, SG is fine, but with something like Faulkner's Sanctuary -- his one popular success, I've heard -- whatever he's trying to do gets lost and it goes on too long. All the characters seemed to share some unspoken assumption, but Faulkner never tells us what it is, and I couldn't understand it.

reported on F-35 pilots at the Barry M. Goldwater Range (BMGR), a military training facility in Arizona that is used by the U.S. Air Force, Marine Corps, Navy, and Army, are reporting drones within the restricted airspace.

There was one reported incident in January of 2023 where a drone struck the rear canopy of an F-16.

But that isn’t the oddest part to the report. Apparently pilots have reported drones in elevations “they shouldn’t be at”. And there was one incident in which a drone was reported to have between a “5’-10’ wingspan”!

These drone incursions continue to occur and it went from isolated incidents to someone surveilling our most sensitive aerial platforms.

Also, notice that none of the pilots or drone experts claimed “UAP”. That’s because it’s a DRONE issue, not a UAP issue.

I don't think that's how I'd summarize it. They are still FAR Left...they're just done of tepidly supporting mainstream Dems as a lesser of two evils thing. It has slowly become apparent the Dems Establishment has no intention of fulfilling any of the promises they've made the far Left, and the extremists of the base are tired of it.

For example, Ana was sexually assaulted by homeless dudes, and when she called out the need for law and order, other far Lefties said she was hurting marginalized communities and needed to shut up about it. You joke but I saw something on PBS a while ago, based on the released Soviet archives papers, that the Soviets weren't willing to start an atomic war over Korea for the Red Chinese [oddly enough!] so nuking the Reds on the other side of the Yalu might have worked. [Although we can only speculate over where that might have led like using 'atomics' as battlefield weapons becoming standard practice. Let's start an HQ alternate timeline short story club based on nuking north of the Yalu!]
