48 Unless there is some political or moral back story to this, it's funny and done with Rockwell's realistic detail along with the exaggerated people features. I always love the way he paints hands and facial textures.

A more realistic American scene might have been with some older guy asleep on the sofa, an empty pie plate on his belly, mouth open and snoring while kids run around the room creating havoc.

I hope this painting represents your Thanksgiving meal.

I usually grab someone else to check seasoning. I think being in the kitchen for hours around the smells of the food dulls my senses a bit. And it's never a bad thing to get a second opinion.

Husband I love hosting Thanksgiving and our family is very grateful for our cooking but it's still stressful. Between the snacking and hosting, we don't really enjoy the meal until we eat leftovers the next day...which I just did for brunch. It was everything I hoped it would be.

I had seconds on stuffing, but otherwise behaved myself.

Over the past year I lost a lot of weight and I'm noticing that I can eat more and not gain weight now. Maybe my metabolism has to work harder to keep me warm or something. I'm quite happy about it, and I'm thinking of pushing my diet just a little longer because I'm only 8 pounds heavier than when I finish Army Basic Training.

Combine that with election reform, and a lot of terrain opens up.

Frankly, I thought Karl Rove's plan to finesse GOP appeal to soccer moms and avoid trying to contest the rest of the country was doomed. Trump is attacking the very citadel of Dem power, and he's made huge gains, unthinkable gains. No reason to let off the gas now.

You know the ones - people who still think it's the party of JFK, won't listen to the facts, just keep pulling the lever because that's what they've always done. I know lots of people like that, and they are getting up there in age.

Gen X has finally overtaken the Boomers demographically and that dominance will only grow. Boomers voted 50-49 Dem, Gen X was 55-45. So even setting aside policy victories and election reform, the trend for the Dems does not look good.

NJ/CT have a lot of jobs ultimately tied to finance. These people are winnable with a Trump slate of policies. Not easy to win...but winnable.

MA has a lot of jobs tied to colleges, healthcare, and big tech. These are harder people to reach, though amusingly Trump could destroy the current Big Ed ioligarchy f he wants to be restructuring how college is paid for.

I'm of the genuine belief we continue to think in left/right terms, to our own detriment.

The powers that be are the warmongers, and depending on who is in power, and how much they are controlled by the warmongers, they will mouth the words that need to keep us in war mode.

That Trump is not of the warmonger class, is why he is such a threat. Doesn't mean he doesn't have whisperers who will cause him to make bad decisions, but the impulse right now is to keep the warmongers out.
