Trump Nominates Former Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi for AG

pambondi.jpg

She does work for the America First Policy Institute, which I guess is good.

She backs the appointment of Laura Trump to Marco Rubio's Senate seat, which I guess means she passes the all-important Loyalty Test.

I don't know. I had problems with Gaetz but I had little doubt that, if appointed, he would tear the place up like mad dog.

With Pam Bondi... this feels more like a chastened pick, a pick made from a position of weakness, a concession to the establishment.

I guess we'll see.

I don't think anyone's expecting the left to call off the attack dogs for Trump's new pick. I'm sure they'll contrive some new sex scandal.

Update: A Floridian correspondent is considerably more excited by this pick:

You wanted Trumpy? She's Trumpy. Gonna be relentlessly loyal. She is also a fucking rock star. This is gonna be awesome.

Well, that's good to hear.

Via Marc Caputo: She represented Trump during his impeachment hearing, so she's on the Trump Train, and he says she's "very confirmable," so that's good.

But like I said, if you think the left and the McConnell Corpservative Cuck Caucus is going to permit Trump to appoint any nominee that will attack the Deep State, you've got another thing coming.

Pretty soon they'll be accusing her of rape.

From gnat local, a blurb from 2020:

Pam Bondi, the former Florida attorney general and a prominent surrogate for President Donald Trump's campaign, on Tuesday defended Kyle Rittenhouse -- the 17-year-old charged in the shooting deaths of two people in Kenosha, Wisconsin - as "a little boy out there trying to protect his community."

Update: MSNBC reacts.

6 Whoa -- the left is already fucking around with Pam Bondi's wikipedia page. When I first loaded it five minutes ago, the title had been changed to "Pam Bondi Botox Girl" -- but when I accidentally refreshed the page a minute ago, it had been restored to just "Pam Bondi". Insane. the page is probably being edited and unedited every three seconds.

AG is the most important pick. It’s who is going to be key in going after the communists.

I know about Pam Bondi, except that she’s a woman. Women are not good at being fighters. This is ACB or Betsy DeVos Redux.

AG needs to be a man under 50. Preferably someone with a sense of humor, someone who enjoys being attacked, who loves scrapping.

65 This is not a surrender. There is no doubt that there are negotiations happening behind the scenes. Trump learned how DC works during his first term, for which he was obviously totally unprepared. He had four years to figure things out, set the stage, and get his pieces in place. He is surrounded by a stronger team. He has a willing public. I am sure he traded Gaetz for something, and didn’t just give in like a pussy. Trust the process.

94 I never understood why Trump decided to make Gaetz' personal problems Trump's personal problems.

I wish that Trump had considered KS AG Kris Kobach, personally. He's been writing law review/guest contributor articles about how to kick illegals out, & why they're an existential threat, for appx 15 years.

I'm impressed that Trump moves at warp speed. Time is precious. Make every day count!

>>It could've been worse. But, still, surrendering on the Matt Gaetz nomination with zero fight, let alone "fight fight fight," was dismaying. I don't see how Hegseth gets through after the Gaetz surrender.

The calculus is you need someone in the AG spot ASAP, because that is the lynchpin to taking down the Deep State.

Gaetz was chaperoned by Vance for the last two days meeting with Senators, the GOPe Senators probably conveyed, in the most direct way possible, that under no circumstances would they allow Gaetz to be AG, probably going so far as to say, a recess appointment is off the table, so seeing the writing on the wall, Gaetz withdrew.

Again, this is the most important position, we need someone solid.

The fact that she's a POA, is an added bonus.

And it looks like Florida is going to be the home base and farm team for The MAGA/America First movement.

A not-too-shabby $8.4 billion of that came to Florida, with $7.6 billion of that going to loan modifications and other measures to keep people in taxable houses.

Not only is she experienced, but I look at where someone stands during times of difficulty

When it was unpopular to stand with Trump, Pam stood strongly beside him

Assistant AG is not a bad position after all. The AG's office has to go after the usual amount of prosecution, so it is a good thing to have a dedicated underling who can focus on his preferred area of investigation and prosecution.

Zimmerman saw a teen peeking in people's windows. As part of the neighborhood watch he followed and called the cops. Then he lost Trayvon and while walking back Trayvon sprung out of hiding and knocked down Zimmerman and started beating him on the ground. At that point Zimmerman shot.

Note Trayvon's friend that HE was on the phone with said that Trayvon though Zimmerman was a homosexual and was following him for a sexual purpose.

There's your four that gets you short of a majority. If we had 54 Senate R's, you could add Lankford and be at 5 traitors. If we had 55, you could add Lindsay and be at 6. The majority that scuttled Roe v. Wade says otherwise.

Look, you guys can black pill yourselves two months before the inauguration and then black pill some more.

I see things differently. Gaetz was an opening salvo, a shot across the bow, and we saw what the response was.

Trump shifted ground and came up with a much better choice.

The thing is, each senator is different, and has to make their own caculations. What is safe in Indiana is suicidal elsewhere. So it's all part of the game, and deals will be cut, earmarks noted and - something a lot of people need to keep in mind - where is DOGE going to recommend slashing employees? Which industries? Which departments?

Trump has tremendous power over the executive branch.

We're only getting started.

The POTUS appoints all U.S. Attorneys, & they must be confirmed by the Senate.

AUSAs are hired by U.S. Attorneys, and can be fired without cause for 1 year. Thereafter, they can only be fired for cause, i.e., misconduct proven before a neutral arbiter, pursuant to an evidentiary hearing.

GOP Presidents frequently take their Tulsa time appointing U.S. Attorneys. Not DEM Presidents. One of the problems the GOP has is, successful attorneys often don't WANT to be the U.S. Attorney in their district. Too big a financial sacrifice.

Trump 1.0 left a lot of U.S. Attorney slots go unfilled-- offices were left in charge of an acting, usually a senior career prosecutor. Same with Bush 43.

You can appoint an "acting director" without Senate Approval, whenever a seat is empty. That guy only fills the chair until the 100 Self Important Assholes approve someone.

So you appoint someone "Acting" that is three times the asshole as your long term pick. And if the current guy does not tender his resignation to make room for the "acting" ? Which is why Trump needs to go scorched earth on the GOP: you either confirm my picks, you know, what you’d do if I were Obama.

Or, I’m going to exercise executive authority without that cabinet position filled. Let them argue that Congress can create executive powers that can only be exercised by Congressionally-confirmed members of the executive branch.

What part of the U.S. Constitution permits Congress to delegate powers to a Cabinet—and only to that Cabinet, and not the duly-elected President—that they exercise control over?

483 What kind of clarification of the rules are you trying to give ? It's quite literally what I posted.

Trump must - must - fire every US Attorney on Day One.
Posted by: Same Old Same Old at November 21, 2024 08:00 PM (QOCDM)

He’s a Federal prosecutor—or a former one—who asserts that Trump can only fire USAs and not “civil service” employees, because Congress created an arbitrary distinction between political employees of the executive branch (loyal to the President) and non-political employees (loyal to Congress.)

This unconstitutional fourth branch that Congress has created within the executive branch is unaccountable to the duly-elected President. It’s the essence of the deep state.

Posted by: The Man from Athens at November 21, 2024 08:07 PM (Edxq2)

486 It's not necessary to "fire" presidentially appointed U.S. Attorneys! THEY SERVE AT THE WILL OF THE INCOMING PRESIDENT. They are "at will" employees.

As someone said, Clinton accepted all of their resignations on day 1. There were 93 of them, 7 years ago. Clinton did that to get rid of the one in Philadelphia, who had been conducting an ominous investigation into fraud in federal hospital contracts, IIRC.

487 475 Yeah, yeah Gaetz is a greaseball. Whatever. They all are, and competence doesn't even matter - they're all also incompetent. Just a bunch of malevolent retards.

Posted by: Yudhishthira's Dice at November 21, 2024 08:05 PM (7oYYI)

This is the strongest argument I've heard for Gaetz lol.

488
Wray "not leaving" would be a hoot. Go in, orange suit him and make him do the shackled frog march into custody. Hold pending charges with an out of town jurisdiction. Delay, delay, delay on processing.

Ahhh... that felt good. Trump wouldn't do it, though.

🚨 REMINDER: Matt Gaetz only resigned his seat from the 118th Congress

But he was just elected to serve in the 119th Congress, which begins in January.

Matt Gaetz is *still* a Representative-elect.

TAKE YOUR SEAT BACK @mattgaetz! We need you now more than ever!

492 471 Most of the 4D chess theories are that Gaetz talked Trump into nominating him so he could resign gracefully and avoid the publishing of the ethics complaint. If he takes his seat again in January that's ethics complaint is back on the table.
Posted by: Lamont Cranston at November 21, 2024 08:00 PM (w6p9p)

That's nice but it doesn't have anything to do with the question.

I'll rephrase. Despite resigning from office prior to the end of his current term is it possible Gaetz can still be sworn in at the start of the next term for which he was elected?
Posted by: Robert at November 21, 2024 08:04 PM (DUm5y)

Yes. He resigned from this Congress, but he was also elected to the next Congress that meets in January.

493 >> Tell me please what Matt "Machine Gun" Gaetz gets out of this plan? He resigned a House Seat, what's the payoff?

-------------

My understanding (at least heard from a talking head today on radio) is that he can write a letter to the Clerk of The House and -- although resigned from this Congress -- can explain that he wishes to retain his House position and be seated in the next Congress in January.

That is how I see it too. I do understand the reasoning behind it, but he serves at the pleasure of the president, in the executive branch that the constitution gives the president absolute control over. Maybe, just maybe, the entire DOJ is just overpowered if you are afraid of the president controlling it?

495 The people that elected Trump this time want blood. They want government gutted, government off their back, illegals deported, weirdos back in the closets, violent criminals in their cells.

It's the beginning of something new and grand or the end the Republic.

We had a chance 100+ years ago but the uniparty got their wars.

He's wrong. History says he's wrong. If he won't get out of the chair ? Send Federal Marshals in to drag his ass out.

Clinton fired every attorney. So did Obama. Because they could and they should. "W" didn't - because he was a cuck.

He also took down 16 Republican primary challengers in 2016. And let's not pretend Mondale, Dukakis or Kerry were stellar candidates.

He will go down as one of the most consequential presidents of the last 100 years at least.

Jesus H Fucking Christ. I can "assert" that I'm a porn star swinging a Ron Jeremy length. I'm not. But the asserting thing seems to hold sway with some here now.

Either The Donald will build the Juice to motivate those to draw guns to sit others down. If he doesn't ? Then he's not the tyrant we voted for. If he is ? Then it's pretty obvious that all the rules, up to now, say that firing this or that dickhead at the top of ANY alphabet agency is well within Presidential Powers, and a couple levels below.
