Fire magic.

Calming the caracal, if you know what I mean.

Never give up.

They're all so happy Trump won!

Trying to keep up in a cat race world.

Family drive.

He takes his job home with him.

Baby is mesmerized.

Jealous bird claims her owner.

Odd couple.

30 That polar bear thing, bears are a lot like dogs, so yeah they can be cute and cuddly. But polar bears are one of the few species on earth that will hunt and eat humans just as prey in their area, not out of starvation. So they aren't safe at all just a bit older.

I watch shorts of a guy who has an animal preserve/medical therapy farm where they care for various creatures. He grew up with some brown bears but he never messes with them and stays out of their pen. The black bears he can wrestle with etc, but the brown ones can kill you by accident too easily.

Just think back to when we were young, we would go to see sometimes multiple first run movies in weekend.

When I was working at post facilities in the 90's, it was not uncommon for a bunch of us to go se a movie after work, like every day, if the release schedule put that many films out that month.

Now, I see maybe 1-2 at tops 3 films a year in an actual movie theater.

Holy fuck.

-Lucius Verus. He was the adopted brother of Marcus Aurelius and died about 10-15 years before Marcus. This seems to be a son of the fictional Maximus... but wasn't his wife and children all killed by Commodus?

-wait, did they somehow jump over Septimius Severus and go straight to his sons?

-Macrinus... wait he was the Praetorian prefect who took over after Caracalla was assassinated and long after Geta was murdered (in front of their mother) by Caracalla.

The sad thing is the ACTUAL history is salacious and fast paced enough that they did not need to change much. But they did and here we are.

Or maybe, I'm just spitballing here, the default rule should be that butter is assumed to contain milk absent a contrary statement and leave it to Americans to know this. Because: c'mon, man.

Chaos continued in the Dutch capital on Monday as riots erupted in the borough of Nieuw-West. Videos on social media showed young men waving Palestine flags and others shouting, “Cancer Jews!”

Broadcaster Nederlandse Omroep Stichting reported that the youth rioters pelted cars and a bus with rocks and heavy fireworks. They also set fire to a tram in the area. During the violent outburst, chants of “Free Palestine” could be heard."

183 I never have been at a Golden Corral (they haven't spread to Oregon yet) but there was a chain called King's Table here that was pretty good, shut down a while back. I never expect greatness from a buffet but I do like the variety and the ability to go get more. Back when I could put way 3-4 plates mounded with food it was a great deal. These days probably less so.

I know that it isn't up to everybody's taste (from comments that I have read elsewhere), but I have found the Korean War memorial in Washington to be quite moving, particularly after I read about the Frozen Chosin battle accounts of both the Army and the Marine Corps units there.

There was a small Army detachment that went out to scout around where they had advanced to on the northeast side of the reservoir and they simply vanished. I found that extremely haunting and crushingly sad.

299 Can't do Golden Corral. Just....no.

I liked the place 40 years ago, before it became a buffet-style restaurant. Like any chain steakhouse, you would grab a tray and some utensils and walk in a line to place your order and get your drink. Then a waitress would bring your order to your table. There was one in Raleigh, NC that served delicious ham steaks, and homemade fries.

I ate at one maybe 10 years ago - well into the buffet era - ordered a hamburger and immediately bit into an ice-cold piece of gristle. completely took away my appetite.

314 Milk contains naturally occurring sugars - lactose. It breaks down pretty quickly into glucose. It also breaks down into galactose, which helps development of the nervous system. The glucose does positive things like aid in the absorption of magnesium and calcium. It also acts as a prebiotic, feeding healthy things to your gut. It does not affect your blood sugar levels as significantly as other sugars.

You do not need to drink milk, but assuming no allergies and if you are diabetic, ensure your doctor is okay with it, it is not unhealthy. Of the alternatives, unsweetened almond milk is the lowest sugar alternative, also coconut milk, which has fructose and is low GI. Rice milk has the highest GI.

I have read a good dozen or so of those. Got them from the library in random order. I liked them okay but they are not ones you can read very close together in my experience. They all kind of run together and having giant marty stu kind of gets dull. And I noticed that his story of his origin changed like 4 times in different books until he did the official story heh.

362 Somewhat related: if you haven't read them, try Arthur Conan Doyle's outstanding series of short stories about Brigadier Gerard, a hilariously vain, not too bright, but astonishingly brave French hussar officer.

I highly recommend Doyle's other stories. I mean Sherlock Holmes is great but few people have read his other historical books which are even better. Start with White Company.

WW II movies went through an identifiable cycle. The first wave were the ones made during and immediately after. They had an immediacy to them. "The Best Years of Our Lives" is amazing.

Later on, as people move one, you get into more thoughtful pieces like "Command Decision" and "Sands of Iwo Jima."

By the 1960s, the "revisionist" school emerges, and while the Allies aren't being outright vilified, we're reminded that the Germans weren't dunces, either. Plus the spy movie thing, so you get capers about how the war was almost swung. The swan song is "A Bridge Too Far," and then we get into full revisionism, like "Saving Private Ryan" which is a highly polished turd.

Chuck Dixon has a terrific rant on Saving Private Ryan where he goes off on how terrible so many aspects of that movie are. He is fine with the message, he's fine with the D-Day opener, mostly*, but he goes off on the military and tactical mistakes and just flat stupidly wrong stuff.

I didn't mind that so much but its such a relentlessly miserable and depressing film I never want to see it again and Spielberg is so viciously manipulative in it, its hard to watch.

390 WW II movies went through an identifiable cycle.

The thing is, Westerns did the same thing. They started out as fun romps, then became kind of romantic stories, then became these dark, gritty ones like Searchers, then were comedies and spoofs, and now finally they are being treated a just another literary genre and given respect as just stories.

We don't get many war movies these days but they're all relentlessly awful. I get that every war movie is basically an anti-war movie, but stuff like Fury and Private Ryan are wrist-slitting misery. There is heroism and nobility in war, too. There are great stories of human achievement and justice. It doesn't all have to be "I ate dirt and the shinbone of my best friend for 36 hours while the poison gas killed all my platoon"

I liked it a lot, especially the first 20 minutes.
The D-Day scenes were the best part.

It does go downhill fast with the mini-mutiny against the Captain over their mission and executing the German prisoner, but gets more interesting after that.

The interpreter kid just annoys me for most of the movie.
He only redeems himself translating Edith Piaf's lyrics during the surreal record player part in the ruins of the town and when he finally grows some balls at the end after watching his buddy get knifed.

Not your typical WWII flick for sure, especially with all the moral uncertainty.

CO-8 was finally called, even though the Democrat conceded yesterday.

CA-41 and AZ-6 were also called.

AK is outstanding, will need to wait for that ranked choice nonsense to play out. The only way Belich to lose is if 95% of the 3rd party votes have filled in the Democrat as a second choice.

Costa in CA-21 is hanging on by the skin of his teeth. He has a 1200 vote lead on the GOP challenger with 64% of the vote in.

Duarte in CA-13 is doing a little better leading by 3000 votes with 64% in against the Dem challenger.

Should end up with at least 220, could be as much as 222.

Reading something interesting about Kamala paying Oprah, Beyonce, and the other celeb idiots.

Paying them is not any campaign violation, but there may be a requirement that the fact they were paid should have been "prominently" disclosed.

Ie, Oprah should've be required to say, "I endorse Kamala! (paid for by Harris for President)".

n April 2012, Rubio began to introduce his own version of the DREAM Act, granted legal status to undocumented children. It is at this point, that Rubio first supports an immigration bill that would benefit undocumented immigrants.

In December 2012, Rubio is selected and agrees to join the Gang of Eight made up of senators from each party to try to work out an agreement on comprehensive immigration reform. This marks the first time when Rubio actually supports a comprehensive approach to fixing the immigration system and providing legal status to those already here in an undocumented status.

April 2013, Rubio pushes hard to have the bill introduced by the Gang of Eight passed in Congress. He states that he does not believe that we should deport millions of people or make their lives so miserable that they will self-deport themselves as advocated by other Senators. He points out that without fixing the immigration system, there is de facto amnesty.

Pretty much the same language from days past and Reagan telling Iran that their country would become in essence, a glassine parking lot if our hostages were not released before he took office.

Excellent move Prez. Trump.

Most of you may not remember how IRAN overran the US Embassy and held 53 Americans hostage all through the Carter (peanut farmer) presidency in the late 70's. Reagan took care of that shit DAY 1.
