23 Is PS5 gonna be the new *MUST HAVE* for Christmas?
Posted by: JQ

It might've been a few years ago, but it's old and washed up now. That's probably why they released whatever the Pro is. They're doing the equivalent of introducing a baby in a dying sitcom, because everyone who wants a PS5 bought a PS5 a long, long time ago.

The only thing I could think of that might improve console sales is that new college football game that is a PS5 exclusive. There are people who would buy the system just to have access to that game.

What I want to see is a comparison between the PS5 Pro and a no-videocard PC running that new standalone processor Pixy mentioned yesterday.

29 Evening and morning to all the far-flung outposts of the AoSHQ Empire! Hold on; help is coming from the new emperor, long may his line increase!

I took the day off from work yesterday and relaxed as best I could. The neck and shoulder still hurt, but it would have been still more exhausting to drive to work, sit in front of computer screen for a day, and drive through traffic back home.

Glancing over the news stories Ace posted: I'll bet dollars to donuts the FEMA supervisor, "Marn'i Washington," who ordered workers to skip Trump-supporting houses, is not only black (the name alone is diagnostic) but fat. Am I right?

-

We're similar. Lego has been the answer to that question around here for a decade or so. I formed a hypothesis just now that I think I'll ponder for a while, though:

There are no "big Christmas toys" any longer for the same reason there are not big-event made for TV movies that everyone watches and discusses at work the next day, or the same reason modern Americans don't share anything similar to "Who shot J.R.?"

We've become so specialized that a "big Christmas toy" can no longer easily exist. In order for it to catch fire it has to be on whatever social media mom is on, and whatever specific channel (or whatever) she follows, and the odds of it happening to any great degree are way too small now.

I no-joke wonder how much influence the animals being eaten / sacrificed by illegals and the government raiding homes to ultimately kill a man's pet squirrel had to do with Trump's landslide.

47 I would love to see folks begin realizing that the same mindset that brought you a dead Fred and Peanut brought you the FEMA story of withholding aid to Trump Supporters in Florida.

And then revisit the supposedly debunked story of FEMA not responding quickly to the predominantly conservative areas of North Carolina.

For some reason...'Reckoning' seems to be working it's way into my consciousness.

Posted by: Village Idiot's Apprentice at November 09, 2024 05:26 AM (a1415)

48 Speaking of dreams . . .

I was riding with my best friend in high school in his '62 or '63 Chevy four-door (the model people love to re-paint and turn into lowriders), with two girls. But we were looking for a house party in what seemed to be a depressed, former mining town in the Northeast somewhere. The roads were even more horrible than here, gravel when they weren't muddy, and every turn we took (my buddy's girl was driving) got us more lost. Finally I said, "Let me drive." She stopped the car, got out, *and took the door away with her*. I hopped behind the wheel and drove until we were stopped by a gigantic pothole outside the stone wall of a cemetery. My friend and I were trying to climb it, hoping to get a view of the house we were seeking, when I woke up.

The Chevy was a metallic blue, if that means anything!

If Diana picks up Breed wins today and tomorrow, she'll have 26 Grand Champion points, one more than needed for her to become GCH Soyara's Dark Huntress.

But three of them are still in question. Her win at one show was voided because her handler was suspended for showing her. The handler appealed the decision to the AKC, who reviewed the case, found grave errors in the way it was conducted, remanded it back to the club for a rehearing and reinstated her. So the points Diana lost should be restored as well. But we can't get into the Points Progression page at the AKC site to find out.

I think the chances of a rehearing are slim to none.

195 Asmongold is co-owner of Starforge, a PC system builder.

A few years ago GamersNexus bought a PC from them and reviewed it. And Steve Burke actually gave them a great review - only a few problems, a couple of loose screws and the SSD still had the protective peel over the heat spreader.

The funniest thing was the gag about Starforge’s logo which is a design incorporating an upside down warhammer (like Thor’s).

It looks rather, “phallic”, you might say.

The funniest thing was watching Asmongold doing a reaction stream to GN’s reviews swearing to God and anybody who listen that “it’s NOT a PENIS!” while his chat is trolling him to high heaven and Asmon’s eyebrows are going off like Groucho Marx at a Stripclub.

I laughed and laughed for a good 15 minutes.

198 Morning peeps. Not too bad here in Bourbon Country this morning. Bit chilly. Looks like there might be some rain later on. Almost all of the leaves are off the trees. There was hardly any color this fall, the leaves just sorta' turned brown and dropped. I think it was due to the drought back in late July and most all of August.

All the soybean and corn fields are done too. But my grass (such that it is) refuses to go dormant and will need another mowing soon. 🚜

200 60 Minutes spokesmodel in the ONT claimed it costs $80,000 to deport one person, so $80 billion per million deportees. That was her claim. Of course most of that cost, essentially all of it really, is the lawfare fight against taxpayer-funded NGO's trying to prevent deportations. So maybe the cost to taxpayers is really $160.000 per deportee, since we pay for both sides.

Obviously the solution is to offer deportees $10.000 to leave, and be first in line to come back after vetting. If you choose to stay, illegally, and we catch you, no chance to return and no money.

How much did it cost to bring them here? I bet it was significantly more than $80K... assuming I take that claim to be true... which I don't.

Considering every adult illegal was provided food, clothing, shelter and a pre-paid debit/ATM with hundreds to thousands of dollars on it... refilled by the feds monthly I think it was way more than $80K a head.

215 Its not revenge - its justice.

I think Asmogold utterly misunderstands what Trump is saying about "leakers". Trump is not talking about whistleblowers, he is talking about people like Vindman and Brennan who start false narratives like the one which led to the phone call impeachment. A whistle blower goes public with facts. Leakers tell lies like the 51 intel agents who called the Hunter laptop "Russian Disinformation" when they knew it wasn't. Whistleblowers uncover corruption, leakers cause and prosper in corruption.

224 We have to teach the illegals that listening to, and believing in, the Democrats (& their media mouthpieces) is a very unreliable endeavor.

American citizens who vote Democrat are slowly learning that lesson the hard way. In fact, millions of former Democrats showed they’ve learned that lesson by voting in the millions for Trump.

If we put a very large tax on remittances, secure the border with a wall, make E-Verify a real thing with real legal and financial consequences to businesses and their owners, and maybe, just maybe a shit ton of illegals will decide to up and leave and head back home to Venezuela or Mexico or the Northern Triangle or wherever they came from across this planet.

We’ve got to put the idea in their heads that they f ‘d up a good thing, got greedy, and decided to take advantage of the good graces of the American people who have finally had enough and want them gone at a rate of 65% in the last poll I saw.

They FA’d and now they need to FO.

228 If you read the 14th amendment it does not say "everyone born in the United States is a citizen" it says "All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof" That does not mean that if you sneak into the country and have a baby, that baby is a citizen, because you specifically were avoiding the jurisdiction of the United States.

Posted by: An Observation sez China Joe not my president at November 09, 2024 08:42 AM (Da7Vv)

229 A foreign national is subject to the jurisdiction of his home country. That’s what they meant by that, I think.

An Alien (that is a legal term) is subject to the Jurisdiction of the US insofar as he can be expelled forthwith.

They really tried to expunge the thought of “unlawful enemy combatants” when it pertains to invaders re-arranging the New York City skyline.

Treat it as garden variety crimes. Trials. Attorneys. What does Greta think about the defense team strategy? Tune in to find out!

Posted by: CommonTater at November 09, 2024 08:47 AM (4aH1v)

230 One of the arguments against mass immigration enforcement is that We Just Can't Afford to hold all those trials and hearings.
But illegals are not immigrants. Anyplace else, they'd be treated as invaders. They can be drum-headed and summarily expelled.

If you're challenging someone who applied for entry and was approved, then went rogue, a trial is required. Not so for walk-ins.

Posted by: Way,Way Downriver at November 09, 2024 09:00 AM (zdLoL)

231 If you enter the United States at a check point on a visa, and have a baby here, that baby is not a US citizen. So most certainly, if you sneak across the border and have a baby, the same rules apply.
