NBC Runs Illegal Ad for Kamala Harris
Following FCC concerns over Kamala Harris' last-minute Saturday Night Live appearance, NBC has given Donald Trump 90 seconds of free ad time. On Sunday, the network reportedly aired a clip of Trump addressing voters during its coverage of the NASCAR Playoffs race, after Harris' SNL cold open cameo may have violated the FCC's Equal Time Rule ahead of Election Day on Tuesday. Trump-appointed FCC commissioner Brendan Carr previously accused SNL of a "clear and blatant effort" to evade the Equal Time Rule, which requires broadcasters to provide rival candidates comparable time -- news programming is exempt. The rule is often confused with the Fairness Doctrine, which was abandoned in the 1980s, requiring stations to present different points of view. Noting that Harris' SNL cameo came just three days before the presidential election, Carr posted on X, "What comparable time and placement can they offer all other qualifying candidates?" Reed Hundt, a former FCC chairman, wrote on X that Carr is "wrong" that SNL was engaged in an effort to evade the rule. "He's clearly and blatantly trying to help the Trump campaign. That's also wrong," Hundt wrote.
David Strom writes that NBC previously said that neither candidate would appear, "because of election laws." But then they violated those laws anyway. Even worse, apparently SNL wrote an entire sketch just to raise awareness of Tim Kaine, who is locked in a tight race in Virginia with a great Republican candidate named Hung Cao. Obviously, the immigrant Hung Cao is the one who needs name recognition, and "mainstreaming" of his name. But SNL instead flacked for Hillary Clinton's running mate.

NBC News aired a short video message from former President Trump on Sunday evening in an effort to provide the leading presidential candidates with equal air time after Vice President Harris made an appearance on “Saturday Night Live” (SNL).
A source familiar with the matter told the outlet that the appearance was related to providing Trump with equal time. The outlet noted that it was not clear if the Trump campaign requested the slot or if it was provided by NBC.
The SNL Sketch went viral. The trump 2 minutes people might fast forward or go to pee. I don't think it will be as interesting as a comedy sketch. We were all curious about what Harris would do and say in comedy.
Trump hosted SNL as a candidate in 2015. Where was the “equal time” consideration then???
NBC is in the bag for pedo Trump. They give Trump free publicity. Harris had to do something for the exposure she got.

Being the cast member who plays the President at SNL is a major career move and a big deal. Every 4 or 8 years they pick one cast member.
My theory is that what's her name was really let down because she got the honor, but her candidate was a loser so the producers let her have one big performance before the election, knowing that kamala doesn't have the chance of a june bug in a blizzard to win.

I waddled my way from the car to the polling station yesterday and voted, they waddled back to my car. All-in-all went pretty fast, except the waddling. So I'm done voting.
There were three races I did not vote on:

There were 3 peaks, each one a little lower than the last. First was the original cast, which was one of the funniest live shows ever on TV and launched the careers of Akroyd, Belushi, and Bill Murray (and a few others) Second were the years of Lovitz and Phil Hartman in the 80's, also some truly great episodes. The final high point was with David Spade and Norm McDonald in the late 90's, again great stuff. Really not anything worth watching for at least 20 years now.

Though in deep blue California don't think the national races matter but there is the local congress-critter who is running in a newly created district. They've been trying to smear him saying he was indicted - for something like 20 years ago - it never went to trial - was dropped I think - but it's all they've got. The statewide propositions will be interesting. They've been trending more to the right than the legislature.

What is the problem with reaching GOP men? Seems easy enough. Unless the problem is really that these men either (1) deliberately avoid polls for whatever reason or (2) deliberately lie to pollsters because they know that supporting the GOP is the "wrong answer" for most pollsters.
I personally have never participated in any kind of poll whatsoever. I never take those calls or engage with that bullshit. So no poll is ever gonna count me. It just seems that they would have figured out a way to capture guys like me.

NBC last night aired a Trump message after a NASCAR race in an apparent effort to comply with the "equal time" rule after sparking controversy when it put Kamala Harris on SNL.
"A source familiar with the matter told the [Hill] Reporter the appearance was related to providing Trump with equal time."
It's a big victory that NBC acted. It shows that the public pressure we all brought to bear worked. X is game-changing. It's also further proof that NBC knew it was guilty.
But NBC still knowingly broke the law and interfered in the election, and it is still not in compliance with the law. That's because NBC promoted Harris and Kaine within seven days of election, the time was not comparable, and the other candidates, including Senator Tim Kaine's opponent, did not get comparable time.
There is no way that the time was comparable. The SNL skit was funny and humanizing and created by the best minds in television. The Trump campaign had to cobble something together at the last minute.

As @BrendanCarrFCC notes, "The FCC adopted the seven-day rule to avoid gamesmanship by candidates (usually gamesmanship by the candidate seeking the Equal Time in the exemplar case) and for orderly planning (usually for the broadcaster)."
And, he notes, "NBC structured the SNL candidate appearance (just hours before an election) in a way that denies all other candidates their one week procedural right."
Finally, by law, NBC was required to give equal time to @HungCao_VA @RobertKennedyJr & @DrJillStein and it didn't.
NBC continues to act as though it is above the law. We should accept it as a victory that it felt the need to give Trump some time after NASCAR, but we should not let up the pressure.

I don't think so. I do think that most of the invigoration under Trump is because of Trump himself, his own personal popularity with parts of the base, but that doesn't mean that it ends when he's gone, that the party collapses into dust.
There will be efforts, ala Reagan, to use his name as a rallying cry for a generation or two. We haven't seen a political party actually collapse in 170 years. Issues will change, focuses will change, tactics will change.
The GOP of 2040 may be very different from the GOP of 2024, but I doubt it just goes away.
If it didn't collapse into nothing after W, it's got a strong chance of surviving after Trump.
