It's weird, my coffee consumption. Never drank it till I was 25 and moved to the farm w/ Grandma. It was nice in the cold winter kitchen that was hit by northwestern winds.
Used to drink at least half a pot per day. Today I seldom have a cup. I think retirement might have something to do w/ that, who knows.

Orson, I had a medical test done at 2 P.M. I wasn't allowed to have anything to eat or drink from the previous midnight. If I don't have coffee by 10:30 in the morning, I get a headache. So, I spent the few weeks before the med. test weaning myself off. Each day I would have my cup of coffee about 15 minutes later until I could go until 2 PM without a headache.

… when I became diabetic, I had to give up my 4-liter a day Pepsi habit. I had drank so much that I needed more caffeine in order to sleep. When I stopped, I had no withdrawal symptoms because I had already decided that the Pepsi was over.
Even now, if I drink diet drinks with caffeine, it has no effect on me.

We went to see the surgical oncologist today, and he was very encouraging. While the type of cancer is what I had been dreading (Cholangiocarcinoma/ Bile Duct Cancer), he thinks this is very treatable, and we can have most of my treatments done here in Fort Worth, just a mile from our house.
He did say that MD Anderson would be doing the very same things for treatment that they will be doing here in North Texas, so we are canceling everything down there for now. It sounds like this doctor actually deals with more of this type of cancer than they do down in Houston.
I have a televisit scheduled tomorrow, a CT Scan scheduled on Wednesday, and a visit with an oncologist in Fort Worth on Thursday. After my televisit tomorrow, I will be scheduled for a liver biopsy sometime in the next week or two.
I will be doing chemotherapy for 3 months in order to shrink the tumor ( no hair loss!!!!!), then the doctor will be operating to remove the remainder of the tumor. After that, I will be getting scans to monitor the site.

A. Boil (half asleep, outside on a camp stove) muddy/fetid water to kill off microbes
B. Pour, the dregs, by hand, over a filter holder robbed from coffee maker, try not to scald yourself.
C. Stumble inside to finally sip the life-giving liquid, after it has cooled.
I started doing it the night before, and then heating it back up the next a.m. on the camp stove. Still took too long.

The hilarious part is that radicals devised a new, enormously complicated, voting system for Portland city council, explicitly designed to elect more radicals.

I don't think Iran is in any position for a retaliatory strike. The last Israeli effort focused on the IRG, and all accounts are that they didn't miss what they were aiming at. They also took out missile structures, military manufacturing structures as well as command bunkers in Syria. If they try a retaliatory strike now, Israel is just going to up the stakes and increase the resource drain of Iran. Iran can't afford that. Not with the way their economy is currently sputtering under 35% inflation.

What's not saturated is the market for spyware-free cellphones that actually work, out of the box. Couple that with Elon's constellation of Starlink satellites, you could have a cellphone that works anywhere in the world, and pretty much impervious to government snooping. I would buy one if it were affordable, for sure.

It is like a falcata, I have a couple of kukris, picked up here and there. The one concept I liked was one I saw that was reworked to be a field knife. The handles are cool, but not particularly gripabl for big hand so they need to be modified iwth thicker scales, and the leather covering for the sheath is not the best, and canvas is generally better in the wet.
I like goloks too, so I am not the best source for good taste.

Sounds like the mirror image of a US citizen having a domestic mutual fund or brokerage account with foreign holdings. If there is a foreign tax imposed on the foreign dividends or capital gains distributions, the institution pays it out of that income stream and reports it on the 1099-DIV. The US citizen gets to claim a foreign tax credit.
That said for a taxable account, if the Canadian RRIF is a tax-deferred account like an IRA, why would the owner be filing a US tax return? You'd just pay Canadian taxes on any taxable distributions from the RRIF to you.

I think with the last batch (or the next batch) of the latest Starlinks launched, there will be the first complete set of direct-to-cell Starlinks. By complete, it means the thing can be fully operational.
With direct to cell, the satellites function as cell tower. Right now, they have to coordinate that with current carriers somehow for some reason, but it will be possible to have the satellites act as an independent carrier in the future.
This means cell service (4G level, I think) anywhere on the planet.

There is a rather surprising result from classical EM theory known as the Lorentz Reciprocity Theorem, which is roughly (under some arcane boundary conditions) that if one antenna can receive a signal from a second, then the first can receive a signal from the second when transmitter and receiver roles are reversed.

I own a froe. It is very much that, a blunt blade with a handle at right angles. It is not a good one and I had to make a handle for it, but it will split shakes.
What I don't have at the moment is any real need for shakes.

Kammie didn't grow up in America but in America I'd say a majority of kids work in fast food at some point, be it chain or local. Didn't do Mickey D's but I worked at Pizza Hut and Burger King, along with a local Va Beach sub shop.

When I worked at Pizza Hut, the manager did not care how much we ate. His only requirements were we fill out a ticket, indicating 3x sausage, e.g., and that we'd stop eating to take care of customers; we could always make more food. That was a great summer job in college. Really fun with a good attitude crew thanks to that Manager's philosophy.

Grudge, we'll see if I try the chicken Big Mac. Their regular chicken sandwiches aren't good. The regular is too peppery, and the spicy is too spicy. I assume they bland out their chicken patties for the Big Mac, which would be fine! Someone I know who tried it said they ate it in smaller sections vs biting it all at once, and the individual chicken patty was good. Like a big, flat chicken nugget. Maybe they could sell just that.
