Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | Mollie Hemingway: One Time I Was on CNN and Jim Sciutto Basically Told Me that Former Director of National Security James Clapper Was a Source for the Steele Dossier LeakJames Clapper lied both in a public statement and before Congress that he was not a source for the leak that the Steele Dossier had been paperclipped to the president's intelligence briefing. He has lied to Congress before -- with impunity. He seems to have lied to Congress again. Will Trump permit him to escape punishment? Anyway: I've known about this since an hour after it happened, seven years ago. I never told anyone about it because, unlike the Gossipy Gerties at CNN, I know how to protect a source. Mollie Hemingway:Back on the roof in January of 2017, Evan Perez was shown on television reading and reporting on Clapper's statement from a remote location. Tapper and his colleagues interpreted the statement as confirmation of their story and a repudiation of Trump's dismissal of the Russia collusion story as false. While Perez's package was airing, and at the point he read Clapper saying that he didn't think the leak came from the intelligence community, Sciutto said that he was pretty sure Clapper knew the leak came from the intelligence community "because ...," he said, trailing off as he rolled his hands suggestively and somewhat like a football referee very slowly calling a false start. He said it for all to hear, though I'm not sure anyone else other than Jake Tapper, who he was sitting to the right of, and I heard and understood. Tapper squeezed Sciutto's left wrist the way my mom used to squeeze my wrist at church when I was being too loud. I interpreted this message roughly as "stop talking you idiot."Now I wasn't there, but it sure seems like Jim Sciutto, "Real Journalist," has loose lips. And you know what loose lips do, don't you? That's right -- they take dick like a champ. In the following part, Mollie relays how Tapper attempted to mollify her and please her. She told me she felt a odd charge in the air -- like Tapper knew that a major breach had just been committed, and wanted to keep her on CNN's side and get her to keep the secret for them. I remember telling her: That's not evidence in the traditional sense, but I 100% believe in people's ability to pick on other people's anxiousness and their hidden motives. You can't say this is proof like someone admitting it verbally, but in the real world, you can tell when someone is behaving oddly and you can make very strong educated guesses as to what is prompting that odd behavior:
And let's not lose the real lede: James Clapper, who has repeatedly perjured himself before Congress, perjured himself still more in denying that he was the source of the leaks about the Deep State op called RussiaGate. The rest of the article is about Jake Tapper's attempt to rewrite history and claim, as he did to JD Vance, that he never pushed the Russiagate Hoax, that he was merely "reporting on an FBI investigation." No, Jake, you and your corrupt sources schemed to make the unpublishable Steele Dossier publishable, and you and Comey and Clapper all worked together to create a groundswell for that very investigation. I'll be writing about that in my next Tapper Files. Once again, this is something I've already written on this blog, and only contains one new bit of information. But the general public really needs to know how the media-Deep-State-op sausage is made, not just you very well-informed AoSers.

There are a lot of disgusting, dishonest, mendacious biased people in the media. The damage they have done to our country and to a free press- meant to be neutral, truthful and verifiably fact based is immeasurable. In fact, I would posit they are responsible for much of our citizens division, simply because they have worked to push political narratives and fallacies instead of the unvarnished truth. I care not why they did, or continue to do it. I care about outcomes and that wreckage can be seen all around us. They have become so vested in liberal arguments, that as of late almost nobody believes them. Within the media there are two groups, true believers,so inbred in their cliques, they don’t care what the average person thinks about them. They care only about acceptance and their shibboleths. Then there are people like Tapper, who is among the most despicable group. They attempt to make you think they are honest brokers, all while manipulating the things behind the scenes and deliberately hiding the truth. They, and Jake in particular are the most loathsome, because they actually knowingly paint the veneer on what they know are truly lies. You cannot hate these people enough.

We need to pass a law that all political crimes (and ones involving politicians) are to be tried ANYWHERE other than DC.
But that won't happen because our rulers want it this way. Posted by: Formerly Virginian ======= Easier way is to give back most of the District to Maryland as was the part across the river. Keep only the core of the Mall, government buildings around it, Capitol, WH, Sup. Ct. The second way is to have Congressional hearings out of DC which is and has been done. For example, have hearings about the intel community in somewhere like Tennessee or West Virginia, have FEMA hearings in Florida and Western North Carolina, and so on. Any lies there will be prosecuted by the local DA and a local grand jury. With most of the district in Maryland, that means that a lot of the petty bureaucracy will now be located in the Eastern District of Maryland for jurisdiction just as the Pentagon and Langley are in the Eastern District of VA. Fairly simple to strip the insulating bark off the little bastards if you really want to. Posted by: whig at October 29, 2024 12:18 PM (ctrM5) 107

Media bias isn’t what they say. Everyone knows why they say is mostly lies.
Their real power is in what they don’t say. Like what a Vance mentioned. Trump talks about economics all day every day. But the media doesn’t mention it. So the typical LIV has no idea that’s taking place. That’s their real power. Because what CNN covers or what NYT covers is what we all talk about. TJM, congrats on your books being on Audible! *throws confetti* I just don't have the funds to buy audiobooks (thanks Biden/Harris!), so free audiobooks from the library it is for now.
(The narrator can break or make an audiobook, some of the free ones are a mixed bag.) I'm also leery of some of Audible's predatory practices on authors. Whatever you are making on there, they should be giving you a larger cut. I appreciate Brandon Sanderson using some of his clout to force them to negotiate to better terms for authors, but it's still far from what you deserve for your work. I like Vance a lot, but let’s not get carried away. No one but Trump could have us in this situation… no one. Trump is a once in a lifetime phenomenon. Ronald Reagan in his political prime couldn’t win this election against the entrenched interests and deep state. Only because we have Trump do we have a prayer. Appreciate it while it lasts because we won’t see another anytime soon….

The incestuous relationship between the democrat party and the US media is long, and disgusting. Here is the formula: Volunteer for a dem campaign as a college student. Get out of college. Get a job as a clerk or aide to a democrat/Lib from contacts you made as a campaign volunteer in college. Get a media job through contacts you made as a clerk or aide to a democrat or marry a politician or campaign employee. Journalize through your dem contacts/former campaign buddies or spouses. Vance is more than a great communicator. Remember like Youngkin, he actually worked in the private sector with great success. If Trump gives him a significant portfolio, like the border or energy and labor, he will get the experience necessary to be a formidable candidate. I think Trump will be a foreign affairs President looking to negotiate Peace in the Middle East and Ukraine.
I think Trump picked Vance because he felt that he would carry out his legacy. The fact that Vance really connects with people is pretty unique. He has the kind of charisma that makes him unique in the political world, a lot like Trump. Posted by: sharon(willow's apprentice) at October 29, 2024 12:34 PM (t/2Uw) 226

While I'm very impressed with his performance on the campaign trail, there's a big difference between a brilliant communicator and an effective executive. I'm happy to give him 4 years as veep to watch and learn. At that point, he can compete against our other stellar executives, e.g. DeSantis and Youngkin.
Posted by: Archimedes at October 29, 2024 12:22 PM (xCA6C) we have to win first. Ronald Reagan in his political prime couldn’t win this election against the entrenched interests and deep state. Only because we have Trump do we have a prayer. Appreciate it while it lasts because we won’t see another anytime soon….
Posted by: LinusVanPelt ========= Dunno, I think we are essentially at the end of the Republic one way or another. Our republic got sick and then better after WWI, then sick again with WWII outbreak, and the long Cold War, sapped the vitality out of it. The redirection of the security state toward terrorism during the Clinton and GWB years has led to its ultimate conclusion--the IC essentially running the government starting with the Bush years and accelerating during the Obama and Biden years. Sly, self congratulating, and trying to lay any danger or blame on Ace. Hasn't she got a husband who likes the cameras?
I think thats a bit much, for three reasons. First, that is the way the game is played. If she wants to remain effective, she has to play it. Second, this is one of those things where a straight reporting of the facts leaves a lot to be desired. No, he didnt say that Sciutto was the leak. But it was the way he didnt say it. If the story comes from someone other than her, the story is did she see that behavior not what did the behavior mean. Because we all know what it meant. Reporting it the wrong way would obscure that obviousness. And third, we dont know it was Ace she was unloading responsibility to. As Ace describes it, she could well have been seeking advice from an outsider first because she knew beltway air corrupts. Posted by: Stephen Price Blair at October 29, 2024 12:38 PM (EXyHK) 260

Posted by: blake - semi lurker in marginal standing (tT6L1) at October 29, 2024 12:24 PM (tT6L1) It's much worse than that. What Trump said that he fears, and he is right, is that they would reveal sensitive information to him in a briefing, and that a couple days later the agency would leak it and set up a plant to say that Trump was the one who did it. and then they would charge Trump with an official secrets crime and jail him immediately. The best and really only way to block that plan is to refuse to allow any communications between himself and the Intelligence Agencies. Posted by: Tom Servo at October 29, 2024 12:45 PM (wyMQY) 317

The outcome has been to wound, maybe mortally, our nation, run a coup on a corrupt sitting president's reelection campaign and trigger two assassination attempts on Trump.

What's your gut whig?
1. Does Trump overcome the cheat? 2. Does he take an unexpected state? Posted by: Marie Curie ====== Who knows? Despite working in the system for years, studying it for years, we are off the map here and I can only draw analogues from historical examples. When you combine an oncoming political crisis along with a massive financial crisis in government, bad things to happen. Despite my distaste for it, I spent 2016-2018 doing background research on the colonial and Republic's laws delving into how the states dealt with individual rights and how that interacted with the preceding British concept of rights carried over to the colonies. That included reading a lot about how slavery began to warp the entire rights dialogue prior to the US Civil War and then the fight over them after it during the Reconstruction. Reading the minutes of the secession conventions, you come up with similar language that the sides are using today and reading the legal briefs of the time and legal opinions, ditto. The problem with overrated-band discussions is that they're never about being overrated. It's just a longwinded way of people saying "I don't like this band" without acknowledging that's what they're saying. It's like someone wandering around declaring they don't like pie; it's only cake for them. Well, good for you, champ. Terrific. Thanks for keeping us apprised of your whims and peculiarities.

Maybe Trump will be a Lincoln as a legal tyrant during a time of cold or hot civil war. Maybe, the people of the US are really tired of the DC crew running the US into the ground. Maybe Trump can enable something like the German economic miracle post WWII that saved W. Germany and to some extent Europe itself from the Commies. I have come to to the conclusion that if Trump wins the election quite clearly, and that if the Deep State tries to block him from taking office, then they country will break up fairly quickly. I'm not convinced that there will be any actual fighting; more like the Federal apparatus collapses in multiple ways and several areas of common interest work together, coalescing into successor states a few years down the line.

Posted by: Tom Servo That's largely been my assumption, though there's going to be bloodshed in areas where score-settling inevitably takes place. It seems pretty clear that Kamala has lost the election based on the will of the people. But as we well know, that is mostly a meaning less exercise. The real election begins with the count manipulation, the legal contests, and then the fuckery when it gets time for certification in DC. Toss in the left trying to throw Trump in jail in the middle of this and a few Democrats sponsored Antifa for riots we just might end up with Hillary Clinton being appointed president for life. That last part is of course sarcasm. Maybe. Posted by: Alteria Pilgram at October 29, 2024 01:17 PM (tPMOE) 506

Once breakups happen it can be something like when the Brits left India and it was partitioned, like when the Soviet Union imploded, or a slide into something like Yugoslavia's or Somalia's disintegration. Kind of like predicting earthquakes, you can see faultlines and measure strain but not necessarily predict when an earthquake will come or how strong it will be.
