Suck it up Buttercup. At least one mail ballot and several pieces of campaign literature were among the discarded items. Tim Walz had a secret fling with the daughter of a high-ranking Communist official during his 1989 teaching stint in China, DailyMail.com can exclusively reveal. Jenna Wang, 59, claims the VP hopeful showered her with gifts and seduced her at his poky staff accommodation at No. 1 High School in Foshan, Guangdong Province. The lovers could not risk holding hands or showing affection in public because Wang's dad was a high-ranking figure in the Chinese Communist Party who would disown her for fraternizing with a westerner. But their romance blossomed behind closed doors as they sipped tea, made love and listened to George Michael hits – leading the then 24-year-old Wang to dream about marriage and a new life in the United States. No proposal was forthcoming from the future Minnesota governor, however, and the shame of being treated 'like a prostitute' eventually left Wang feeling angry and suicidal, she claims. Instead he married this. She seems approachable............. I guess I'm getting old. I thought the helicopter parents got the " Halloween and/or Trick or Treat" holiday pretty much confined. Oh yeah. Get off my lawn. Editor’s note: Kara Alaimo is an associate professor of communication at Fairleigh Dickinson University. But, it never posed a problem. And well, other things came up. My bad. NASA's astronauts aboard the International Space Station have been told to prepare for an urgent evacuation amid growing safety concerns. The US space agency and its Russian counterpart, Roscomos, are tracking 50 'areas of concern' related to a growing leak aboard the station. NASA is now calling the cracks in a Russian service module a 'top safety risk' - escalating the threat rating to five out of five. Astronauts have been warned to stay in the American section when the module is open so they can be close to their spacecraft in case of an emergency evacuation. Although officials have been aware of the issue since 2019, the exact source of the leak is still unknown. All potential cracks have been covered with 'a combination of sealant and patches' but NASA warned that the leak reached its fastest rate yet in April this year. Concerns over the station's safety are now so high that NASA has negotiated with Roscomos to only open the hatch when absolutely necessary and to keep it sealed in the evenings. And that's not the only cause for concern, as the space agency has warned that the ISS is at risk of being pelted with micro-meteors and space debris. Imagine you are a newborn baby in an intensive care unit. Maybe you were born prematurely, or didn’t get enough oxygen during the delivery. There might be an IV in your tiny arm, with a small board holding it down so you can’t rip it out. You might have a tube going into your nose. You are alone, finally stabilizing after a traumatic event. But then, the doctors come in. “It’s as if you are finally safe in your nice warm bed and suddenly, out of nowhere, someone rips the sheets off of you, opens the window to let the freezing cold air in, shines bright lights in your face—and you’re powerless,” says Christine Vaskas Churba, a music therapist at The Louis Armstrong Center for Music and Medicine at Mount Sinai hospital in New York. The UK Spectator writes about another way that the Biden/Harris Administration admits illegals without having to count them in the official statistics.
(Isn't it amazing how it's only UK papers that break these sorts of stories?) If you live in a Third World country, and you want a tourist visa to the United States, you are required to appear before an American consular officer for an interview. The consular officer is legally obligated to refuse issuance of the visa if he thinks that you are likely to overstay the visa, or violate the terms of the visa in some other fashion. The visa rejection rates for some countries have traditionally been quite high - in Guatemala, for example, the rejection rate was 59% in the last year of the Trump Administration. In 2022, the rejection rate was 5%, and in 2023, the rejection rate was 22%. Personally, I think the Portland one was aimed at the early voting, which is rumored to be heavily Republican. It is the sort of thing that gives me a glimmer of hope since it is not the technique used by a group that smells victory in the air. Posted by: Kindltot Portland is a Communist state. Vancouver, WA has traditionally been a rather red area to the point that Portlanders once called it the trailer park capitol of the universe. Portland's distain for Vancouver residents is so great that for years the fought replacing the bridge over the Columbia river and then on the Portland side eliminated a lane of travel. All of this was to punish the hicks for driving cars in an attempt to force Vancouver to pay for a light rail station and the rail extension in downtown Vancouver. I kid you not here - I once lived there and had to deal with this shit everyday. So yes, it could easily go Republican but Seattle being the northern version of the Communist State of Portland dominates and dictates statewide election outcomes. If you live in a Third World country, and you want a tourist visa to the United States, you are required to appear before an American consular officer for an interview.
The consular officer is legally obligated to refuse issuance of the visa if he thinks that you are likely to overstay the visa, or violate the terms of the visa in some other fashion. ---- I witnessed this firsthand in 1994 at the American Consulate in Johannesburg. I was there sorting some paperwork and had to wait, when this 20-something African lady came in wanting a tourist visa. The consular officer grilled her for over an hour, establishing that she had no ties to her present circumstances, including her job, and told her repeatedly that she was a primary candidate to go to the US and never leave. I don't remember if she had a USA sponsor but probably not. She eventually left without a visa. Posted by: Ciampino - It was tough to get a visa then at October 28, 2024 10:42 PM (i0xsb) 184

Most from somewhere else, have spoken to people from all over the eastern U.S., and further. Hundreds and hundreds. Ms. Wang and the present Mrs. Walz, are the best he's ever had, and the best he'll ever have, both. Election numbers stopped following the Benford-Newcomb law with BO’s “re-election”. Romney’s numbers behind his nomination failed log-normal distribution too. We’ve been disappointed with election results, for the most part, since that time. That’s how long the “fix” has been in, in my estimation. Obviously, the fix can be overthrown, in 2016 by their carelessness, and in 2024 by making the win too big to rig (I pray to God). Vote, if you haven’t already, and bring your low propensity friends with you to the polls (as long as they’re voting for the right man in this presidential election!).

So I realized something amusing today
In the latest Warhammer games one of the fan favorite side characters is Valtus a Redemptor Dreadnought - basically if you get crippled they put your remains into a mech body allowing you to continue to fight. And this guy runs around and wrecks the enemy with no absolutely no fear even by the standards of a space marine, making him perhaps the most heroic depiction of a handicapped person in a video game. Oh and Warhammer is very, very anti-woke. But...it is lore accurate, makes perfect sense in the warhammer universe and the character isn't a token or Mary Sue... --------- Here too but the '60s/'70s and we called it King of the Castle. You used to chant, "I'm the King of the castle and you're the dirty assholes". It was only in adulthood using the internet that I learned it's supposed to have been "and you're the dirty vassals!" We also played tackle British Bulldog in the snow [even just an inch covering the playground] where you start with one kid trying to stop all of the other kids from running from the start-point to the 'safe' wall. The original 'it' would tackle/tag the one kid; the two would get another one [or two] and so on until there was just one kid left trying to make it to the safe wall! I think that during the pandemic people got out of the habit of eating in restaurants
Discouraging thoughts I have about eating out are: we are all very aware that food and labor costs have skyrocketed AND people have less disposable income. Restaurants have to turn a profit. One of the few options would be to try to pay less for food stuffs. Government has shown itself to be mostly corrupt and buyable. Government is supposed to monitor the restaurants. Toss in the fact that fast food now costs what midlevel restaurants used to and it adds up to a big "no, thanks" Posted by: azjaeger at October 29, 2024 12:45 AM (3/XaG) Posted by: Tammy-al Thor at October 29, 2024 12:45 AM (Vvh2V) 472

The Walmarts around here did stop 24 hour operation during Covid. This was supposed to be temporary, but they haven't gone back yet. I've heard it was "shrinkage". They noticed that theft was reduced, which would mean most of the shoplifting was the late night crowd, if true. Saturday was sunny, beautiful and mild-- a perfect day.
Yesterday & today have been much cooler and rainy. Not freezing yet, but cold overnight. Trees didn't 'color-up' much but have begun to shed leaves. Except for the walnut-- once there's a hard frost, it will drop all leaves within a couple days. I like that! No constant raking, just all at once & done. The fresh clean air after a rain, mixed with just a whiff of wood smoke... ahhhhhh. Autumn is the best! Posted by: JQ at October 29, 2024 02:35 AM (njWTi) 553
Thanksgiving weekend has always been my Final Yard Cleanup time. I can immerse myself in memories of years ago & people I miss, and cry if I must while working outside. It's a healing thing.

I can understand the general idea of temptation, including the temptation to enrich yourself at others' expense. What I don't get is the penny-ante amounts that actually tempt some people. The score has got to be worth the stretch.

------ Thieves do not care about "others' expense" they only care about what they can get for themselves, right now. And "penny-ante"? Hey, if it's FREE... that's all they see. Here. Now. Mine. Finders keepers. Gimme. They don't GAF, cannot GAF beyond that. Posted by: JQ at October 29, 2024 02:51 AM (njWTi) 556
Somebody on the Garden Thread mentioned that their tree hadn't produced many nuts this year. Acorns, I think?
We have hardly any walnuts this year. I mean, practically ZERO. Last year we had "zillions"-- a real bumper crop! I am *not* complaining! Damned things are a mess & draw unwanted wildlife into our yard. 257 I sense it in the days I told you all about.
Fall, even in SoCal. My Youth, I am running down my driveway in a certain moment, on a certain day, (though I cannot say that day) and the sun is getting low in the sky, and the air is cool with a smell of Pine and Sycamore trees and I FEEL IT THEN..the earth tilting slightly on it's axis and the energy hits me ...JUST SO. And I sprint out onto my street looking for my neighbor kids to play a round of "Kick The Can." with THAT SMELL pushing me on. I cannot describe other than a kind of "Electricity." Fall. “the Knesset, has passed a series of laws today which ban the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) from operating within the State of Israel, while regulating their operations in Gaza and the West Bank.”
Posted by: 13times at October 29, 2024 02:08 AM (Bukd2) - We are so stupid! UNRWA is a corrupt terrorist organization. They need to be treated as such anywhere they're found. Posted by: JQ I’m want to try a Barbados Cherry in a large pot, but realistically don’t have time. JQ - do you have a farmer’s or gardening co-op that will stop by and harvest the walnuts for a percentage of the take? I'd like to plant some evergreen trees here. Problem is-- the soil is only 3-6ft deep & we're on a huge chunk of solid rock.
Guess we're stuck with dwarf varieties of whatever, and not much shade. I fear when the wind blows-- the walnut tree is tall. At least it's not likely to hit the house if it falls. Posted by: JQ at October 29, 2024 03:26 AM (njWTi) 566

Posted by: Adriane Hmm. Not that I'm aware of. No walnuts this year anyway. Black walnuts, if it matters. I picked up & dried thousands last year, for a friend in the next town who feeds wildlife... Posted by: JQ at October 29, 2024 03:28 AM (njWTi) 568

Why is the guy from the Tax Foundation saying that Trump's tax proposals would be bad? Because he thinks the govt. would take in less money? Methinks that would mean Trump could take the chance to cut some things that don't need to be funded.

Up earlier than I intended, but the sore rib on my left side is better. I'm wearing a rib belt for the moment, and will put it on again after my shave and shower. It's uncomfortable, of course. But so is the twinge from the sore rib.
