4 If you ever watched DS9, you were well aware of the evil that was the Dominion...

@amuse
@amuse

CENSORSHIP: Dominion Voting Systems issued a chilling statement today on 𝕏, reminding Americans that they are actively monitoring online discussions about their voting machines as part of "preparations for future litigation." Suggesting they're gearing up to file more defamation suits against critics.

Despite generating only about $50 million in annual revenue, Dominion raked in nearly $800 million last year from defamation settlements alone. The message is clear: speak negatively about their machines or even share someone else’s critique, and they may come after you with lawsuits.

More than 70 million Americans use Dominion machines in over 1,200 jurisdictions—including crucial swing states like Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Wisconsin, and Nevada. Yet, being unable to openly discuss their experiences or concerns without fearing litigation feels fundamentally un-American. The specter of losing one's home or life savings for simply sharing criticism of a voting machine is a very real—and very alarming—possibility.

In a twist of irony Dominion turned off comments to its post...

From the clip I saw, I think the people all looked so glum- not only because of "dangerous" Trump, but because they were shut down

>>Trump, as we saw at the McDonalds, is gaining popularity in the suburbs. She is in big, big trouble.

As we have seen in both 20 and 22, the Donks have control of enough voting apparatuses in enough states to swing statewide and national elections and their ballot harvesting operations can mitigate and or overcome local or representative elections, see the Red Wave of 22 that wasn't as an example.

I sincerely hope he uses Ramaswamy to head up the 'truth and reconciliation' type committee Vivek floated the need for back during his campaign. There's not going to be any meaningful change until people are held accountable for the 2020 election dumbassery.

Maybe RFK the lesser can head up a similar tribunal to reconcile the Covid buffoonery.

One can only hope.

Manchin was the same, however Manchin was a bit less rabid than the other two, especially Brown who is a raging lefty idiot. You can ignore Senate polling, it's all trash.

All the Senate candidates will run 2-3 points behind Trump. This means Sherrod Brown and Tester are going to lose. Mccormick took the lead in overnight polling yesterday. It's about 50/50 for Hoveda (sp), Rogers, Mccormick, Lake, and Brown. It all comes down to Trump's margin in the state.

I don't know if it would be a literal kick, but the arguments against NPVIC other than it being unconstitutional (which is on-brand for Democrats) is that NY and CA would decide all elections because they have no problems letting the whole world vote in their elections. That is, Europe and Asian nations are demanding a vote in the US elections on the argument that US policy effects them in their home nations.

So beating the bushes in Utah and Wyoming for a few votes is folly when California drops off two or three billion ballots collected from their global internet voting system.

165 Trump was relaxed, cheerful, and natural working at the McDonald’s, which really separated him from Harris. While on the campaign trail, he has visibly enjoyed interacting with voters and working the crowds.

Good question, sal. Another is why do they only seem to happen in Republican-leaning areas?

At least if you go to vote early, and something like that happens, you have more chances to vote, unlike if something happens on Election Day.

170 Trump is likely to win MT by 14-16 points and OH by 7-9 points. So it doesn't really matter what Democratic turnout is there, the Democratic Senate candidates need a significant number of Trump voters to vote for them.

Tester has trailed in the polls. Now, Susan Collins trailed in all of her polls in 2020 and still won. But ME is a state that was moving to the right under Trump (compare its 2004 and 2016 vote) and in 2014, a good R year, Collins won with 68% of the vote. In 2018, a good D year, Tester won with 50%. So I don't think the situations are comparable. And Brown was initially elected when OH was purple, not red.

Ballot measures are often confusing to voters. But I don't think they make a big difference to who wins a particular race. The reason these abortion measures have passed in reddish states is that 25-35% of Republicans vote in favor, whereas only maybe 5-10% of Democrats vote against. But the Republicans don't switch parties over the issue. The actual electoral price the *GOP* has paid over the abortion issue has been modest, not enormous, in my view. And I think 2022 was sort of the peak of the issue's salience nationally. (I say this as a pro-lifer.)

The population is in misery, leading them to flee. But the only group with power in Cuba is the military, and they’re part of the ruling elite already.

Sometimes nations just slowly die and sink back into barbarism. Haiti is there; I believe Cuba and Venezuela soon will be. Anyone with any talent, ability or drive is leaving, and what’s left behind is a nation of apathetic, unskilled and sickly sheep. Their gangs are coming here because there‘s nothing left to steal where they come from.

ELECTION INTERFERENCE: The Biden-Harris regime is recklessly pumping debt into the economy, hoping to create an illusion of prosperity while saddling future generations with a crippling burden. In just three weeks, total U.S. debt skyrocketed by $473 billion, reaching a record $35.8 trillion—equivalent to $1,450 per American added in mere weeks. Each citizen now bears $103,700 in national debt. Meanwhile, interest payments surpassed $1 trillion in 2024, costing every American $3,360 in interest alone. This fiscal irresponsibility is an unsustainable gimmick to hide the true state of the economy.

The explanations I've heard are a) vote early in person so you don't get to Election Day only to find out that "you've already voted," and 2) vote early in person just in case the power goes out, machines have "glitches," the bathroom floods, etc etc. All of these things happened last time.

It also helps those who run the GOTV programs target those who haven't voted early and help get them to the polls on Election Day.

The new Trump led RNC including Trump's DIL Lara is focused on early voting and targeting low propensity voters. So is Trump himself. There is nothing nefarious here. It's a good thing.

221 Morning, Horde. Early voting in Texas started yesterday and I made sure to vote. In Texas, both parties get a daily list of names of who voted early so they can remove them from their lists and concentrate GOTV where it really matters. I think other states have similar setups.

If you can vote early, get out there and do it. The Trump campaign is focused on low propensity voters and that means GOTV is absolutely essential. Every early vote helps the campaign by narrowing its focus on the voters it that need to be contacted and persuaded.

In the past I waited until Election Day because I thought voting early just helped the Dems figure out how much they needed to cheat by. But the truth is they’re gonna cheat no matter what, if not by stuffing the ballot box then by not having enough ballots on hand in Republican precincts, or suddenly having “unforeseen technical difficulties” forcing people to wait for hours on Election Day, which is what happened two years ago.

So don’t risk being caught in their malfeasance. Vote early if you can.

Of course they can’t say how they voted; but they record registered republicans, registered democrats, and independents. In previous elections, early voting in Nevada heavily favored Democrats. So far this time, the early numbers are R 22284, D 11854, I 8099.
The significant thing is the huge difference between now and previous elections.

I don't know about Nevada but in Colorado the vote-by-mail ballot is mailed in an envelope with the voter's name and address along with a bar code and box for your signature on the outside of the envelope. Simple matter to scan the envelope as it reaches the election center which confirms receipt of a ballot from that voter. This includes the associated party registrations. I'm not sure why they would release this information prior to Election Day.

Theoretically the ballot is removed from the envelope and scanned for tabulation after signature "verification" . Who knows if this compromises the notion of a secret ballot or not

For those of us who grew up in the NY and northeast media markets know Trump used to be constantly in the news, often for doing really amazing things and skin color never mattered. Back in 1990 after Mandela had been released from prison a group wanted to bring him and his 80 person entourage to the US on a multi city tour. Only problem is nobody would help Mandela organize a plane for the trip. Not the government and not any private group. But Trump did.

I didn't explain myself clearly here. Contrary to Trump's claims, the VP has not banned fracking, doesn't support banning fracking, and in fact cast the tie-breaking vote on the biggest pro-climate law ever, which, yes, opened new fracking leases. People know that's her position. x.com/KFILE/status/1…

Wait! Change of plan from earlier this morning....

As of this afternoon, Harris now supports fracking which is a change of position from this morning in which they opposed fracking....

Which was a change from their July position in which they supported fracking....

Which was a change from their June position in which they....

Opposed fracking.

Got it? Got it.

But isn't there something about the prevailing winds in the Northern Hemisphere shifting southward, and the Southern winds shifting north, over the course of a year? So radiation in the Northern Hemisphere would eventually reach the equator, and Australia and New Zealand, for that matter. Nevil Shute has that as a plot point in On the Beach.

That's the $64 question. I think one of the things that makes this country so unique and not as susceptible to a communist takeover, and make no mistake that is what is happening, is federalism. And a shitload of guns.

I don't see states like Texas or Florida or a number of others meekly surrendering to a totalitarian takeover. They wouldn't even accept Biden's illegals. And I do think there will be unrest in even some blue states outside the metro areas.

I think the place would become largely ungovernable and our broken institutions would largely collapse. If people who are governed by their own consent stop giving it then I don't think anyone really knows what will happen next. How about a blockade of metro areas? They don't grow a lot of food in DC, NYC and Chicago. Lots of unthinkable things can happen if the people stop believing in the rule of law.

467 UC Hastings created the Legal Education Opportunity Program (LEOP) in 1969 to make an outstanding legal education accessible to those who come from disadvantaged economic and educational backgrounds.
Students are encouraged to submit a “separate LEOP statement describing the adversity they faced and its impact on their academic preparedness for law school. Diagnostic reports documenting disabilities and/or accommodations can be submitted as addenda.”

In a Politico article from 2021, the author describes Harris at Hastings:

In the fall of 1986, Harris arrived on campus at Hastings a week before most of her classmates. She was part of the pre-orientation Legal Education Opportunity Program (LEOP), which had been founded in 1969 to help law students from disadvantaged communities navigate the stringent demands of the first-year curriculum. Harris had come to a predominantly white institution after four years at a historically Black university. Beyond introducing students to Socratic pedagogy, case-briefing and exam-taking, the pre-orientation also gave students of color a sense of community and a hamlet of solidarity in a cut-throat environment.
