Posted by: vmom stabby stabby stabby stabby stabamillion at October 31, 2024 11:04 AM The technology behind the flu vaccine is mature (it's 80 years old!), and there are a huge amount of data that show it is safe. So even if it isn't a particularly effective vaccine, I am comfortable with it. 50% effective in preventing infection is fine with me if it is almost perfectly safe. But our government and Big Pharma have lied about pretty much everything, so I certainly understand why people are much more suspicious of all vaccines. Posted by: BignJames at October 31, 2024 11:04 AM (Yj6Os) Living in the belly of the beast where most of my friends / coworkers / etc. are your typical well-educated, smart enough, reflective liberal voters, I'd say there's a few things at play. A big one is social acceptance. The media paints a picture that all smart, well educated people support Democrats. They want to be a part of that club. That's why single women are much more likely to vote D then married women. Social acceptance. And two is kind of hard to believe but true -- they don't know enough about anything related to politics to really form their own opinions. So they "borrow" the opinions of people they trust. Like late night comedians. And there is some weird psychological thing at play where if they don't know much on the subject, they assume everyone else knows even less (because they're smart and have a masters degree, so obviously they know more than a truck driver from ohio!). The community band that my wife and daughter are in was almost destroyed when some fool put forth the idea that the band should require proof of COVID-19 vaccination to allow people to keep showing up to band. The flu vaccine is 'ineffective' because they have just picked the strain they THINK will be prevalent that year. Get a different strain and the goggles, they do nothing.
I am trying to remember my epidemics class, but there are like 4 or 6 or so different strains that come together in different ways in the animal population. So Mathematically, there are like 6! number of strains that can be at any one time. They just pick one. Get a different combination and you did it for next to no reason. People who are sick with respiratory illnesses caused by viruses should not be at workplaces. Work remotely if you must but stay away from offices to share your infection. And masks do nothing to stop viral transmission either way for respiratory infections. Proven.
Not being present in the workplace (or school) makes it 100 percent likely that you will not spread anything. Sharing viruses ain't caring. And there are quite a few people in those offices (or schools) that are either immune suppressed themselves or caregivers to those that are. For them, avoidance of a viral infection is important. I still remember seeing a video someone put together of Biden. Back-to-back clips, the first with Biden calmly reassuring the public that if they get vaxxed, they won't get COVID. The second part was Biden explaining how glad he was to have been vaxxed and boosted repeatedly, because he's had COVID three times and it kept him out of the hospital.
You can't make this stuff up. (Kind of like Biden complaining about a comedian supposedly "demonizing" Puerto Ricans, and then in the next sentence he demonizes half the country - including some Puerto Ricans - the exact same way.) BTW, that comedian called Puerto Rico a garbage dump - he didn't call Puerto Ricans "garbage". It turns out that Puerto Rico has a major problem in dealing with its trash these days. The narrative was that the comedian said something so awful that it could not be repeated, but the truth was that what the comedian said wasn't offensive at all. If they told you what he said, you would have seen what they were saying was BS. Even people on the Right don't seem to realize this, and it's an important point. Well, I got pneumonia so bad it caused so much stress on my heart , never had heart issues, never had Covid vaccine, did have Covid twice I ended up with Atrial Fibulation… In the hospital for a week with both. Actually I converted in the ER and hadn’t had since, 4 months, nor ever prior. I said to same Dr, “ sure glad I got that Pneumonia vaccine”, and he has the nerve to say to me, “oh, it won’t prevent you from getting pneumonia, just not get it so severely “ I said , “I was one step from Death”, you telling me it prevented my death, cause I don’tt see the benefit” He didn’t say anything, maybe it did prevent me from dying, but I will tell you, I’ve had pneumonia twice before, took some antibiotics and I was fine. A holdover from the last thread re: Biden's win in the SC primary in 2020.
The narrative is that Biden was dead in the water all over until Clyburn gave him his blessing and he miraculously won the SC primary. Here's the whole series of polling from SC from early 2019 through the end: https://is.gd/vXtLSl Biden led in every single poll where he was included except 1 (a Change Research poll from February 12-14 when he was second to Bernie, a difference of less than 1 point). Clyburn did nothing but take credit for the inevitable. Notice, though, that precious few are actually close to the results because polls are still bullshit, but it's pretty obvious that Biden was widely regarded as the favorite to win SC from the start of the primary season. "If you averaged Obama's standing in all the internals, youd capture a profile of a candidate that looks an awful lot like a whole lot of people who have gone down to defeat in the past, and nearly nobody who has won. Under such circumstances, Obama can only win if the electorate features a historically decisive turnout advantage for Democrats - an advantage that none of the historically predictive turnout metrics are seeing, with the sole exception of the poll samples used by some (but not all) pollsters."

That 257,133-vote swing almost wipes out Mr. Obama's 2008 Ohio victory margin of 262,224. Since most observers expect Republicans to win Election Day turnout, these early vote numbers point toward a Romney victory in Ohio." Posted by: ... at October 31, 2024 11:32 AM (hmOfI) 163

My only comment is that I saw someone yesterday driving a car...by herself...and wearing a mask. The mind boggles.
Posted by: Archimedes ----- Not really healthy to wear those things long term as it ups your CO2 in blood, recirculates nasty bacteria, etc within the mask, and most are made of Chinesium which have appalling mfg practices if they can get away with it. Stick with 3M or some other known provenance. They are also by and large useless. Made more useless for how people use them. A proper fit for an N95 mask is so tight it leaves welts on your face and you cannot touch the mask, adjust the mask surface, do things like touch your nose or face, etc. because viruses often act like the matching part of velcro to your skin. Touching anywhere around the face simply embeds the virus for being inhaled once you take the mask off and if you touch the mask surface, penetration for a virus is easy. Anyone that went through MOPP training for chem and bio warfare and had to wear suits/masks/etc for extended periods of time were trained not to touch themselves in certain ways when taking off the equipment because it was very easy to 'contaminate' yourself. OK, now you're kind of throwing stones, while living in a glass house. At BEST, the flu vaccine is always a failure. They take a guess at what strain to vax you against, and they're always wrong. God knows what they put in that thing - what are you doing to yourself? I take the following every day: 500 mg Quercetin 30 mg Zinc 1000 mg Vitamin C 125 mcg (5,000 IU) Vitamin D3 This was prescribed by none other than Dr Zelenko, and none in my household (we ALL take it) have had any down time from a cold or the flu since. It has been known for about 20 years that Zinc stops those diseases from progressing. Take it every day - don't wait until you get a cold. The Quercetin helps you absorb the Zinc, and has other anti-inflammatory benefits. D3 boosts your immune system, and inadvertently helped me with a separate issue I had. Crazy, that doing this simple thing might actually save your life! Posted by: MrExcitement at October 31, 2024 11:34 AM (hOOi9) 180

I think one of the biggest drivers of the binary split into two camps regarding the vaccine is the inability of people to grasp the concept of risk as a continuum rather than a straight all-or-none proposition. Applying population risk data to individuals is oversimplified so that the public is led to believe that the 61 year old who weighs 241 lbs is "at high risk" while the 59 year old who weighs 239 lbs is "at low risk", when the cutoff values between risk categories are arbitrary and often capricious. Because the calculation is so complex, most people are inclined to accept the recommendations of an expert. Given the need for humans to feel virtuous and smart, they will pick an expert that aligns with their own preconceptions, and swear by that view while attacking any contradictory point of view. The result is this binary division between vax worshipers and vax deniers when the reality is in the muddled middle. Posted by: muldoon at October 31, 2024 11:40 AM (uCfKO) 208

If you think that politics for progtards has taken the place of religion, Then think about the olde time admonitions to avoid certain books or ideas or movies or people lest those ideas you're exposed to endanger your immortal soul. Same same. Now the progtards talk about the danger of even listening to FOXNews or Trump's speeches or once upon a time, Rush Limbaugh. They refuse to expose themselves to dangerous opinions. Posted by: muldoon at October 31, 2024 11:40 AM (uCfKO) I think you are underestimating the sheer malice of the filth who tried to *force* everyone to take this new "cure" for a disease with a insignificant fatality rate. Recently, a high level US pol referred to C19 as the big flu, which was also a name used for the 1918 Spanish (oh my !) flu. (Did you know? "Contrary to popular belief the 1918 virus - now known to be of the H1N1 strain - did not originate in Spain but rather in Kansas in the United States." University of Kansas Medical Center) Lots of pols have taken down their related websites, i.e., Senator Warren's Response to the Coronavirus Emergency: U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren (.gov) "... emergency that poses serious health, diplomatic, and economic threats to our nation. ... of workers' lives at risk in the COVID-19 pandemic. September 10." Gone. And if people like Fauci's wife, highly involved in medicine & the viruses of Africa, etc., knew the effectiveness of antivirals, why weren't they the 1st treatment employed for C19 in this country? Are we now adequately stockpiled now? O&Joe didn't restock adequate PPE masks. Trump needed to have a zillion ventilators made & issued in record-breaking time, and they weren't a panacea by any means. He had medical centers built & they went unused. Yes, imho, it became a matter of convenience & gave a lot of teachers either the opportunity to retire or to have a break to regroup before facing changes in the K - 12 public educational system. I'm reminded a little of Sarah Palin, who was good, but who didn't seem to be quite ready to be thrust on the national stage all of a sudden.
There are differences, of course. (1) Kamala's simply an idiot, of course. (2) Kamala actually HAS been on the national stage, by running for POTUS before (and failing miserably) and as VPOTUS. But she was a do-nothing VPOTUS. (3) As a Dem, Kamala had the media try to reinvent her; vs Palin who of course they were hell-bent of destroying. Posted by: MrExcitement at October 31, 2024 11:42 AM (hOOi9) I'd say Sarah Palin is a good comparison. But to counter some of your points about Kamala -- she has been largely protected / hidden from the public and media her entire political career. Every time she did put herself out there, she made a fool of herself and had to be removed from the scene. Like in the D primaries in 2020. Tulsi destroyed Kamala. Or early in the Biden admin when they tried to put her in charge of things and put her out there (like with the border where she cackled about never going to the border), and she sucked at being in public, so they hid her away. The media is trying to do that now too, but its a little harder here Posted by: Harry Paratestes at October 31, 2024 11:57 AM (Evo1G) 308

Colleges that mandated the COVID-19 vaccine would be liable for medical expenses for students who experienced adverse events from the shot, under a bill introduced Tuesday in the U.S. House of Representatives. The University Forced Vaccination Student Injury Mitigation Act of 2024 would require higher education institutions to cover medical costs for students who were — or still are — required to get a COVID-19 shot for class attendance and who experienced an injury. There are people voting early who would vote on election day, but patterns have mostly set over the past 4 years. You can dig into some states' data to see about the propensity of voters voting, and most of it ends up saying that both parties are digging into the high propensity voters at about the same rate, usually D's doing it more than R's (VA seems to be particularly bad about that, but it's modeled data, so far from authoritative).

Additionally: EVERY formerly-approved genuine vaccine is being / has been retroformulated. Why? To make ALL of them mRNA-compliant 'vaxxines'. You want some free 'mRNA' in your system? Your doc will prolly be happy as a pig in shit if you ask him to give you one. Lastly: Remember all those problems people who've accepted 'The Jab!' have had / are having? That's not accidental. I've spent time in WI and understand completely. I was in Green Bay for a spell and learned that it has the highest bar per capita in the country. It was February and I quickly learned why.
Posted by: Sponge ======= An interesting constitutional case from WI dealt with a state law permitting a chief of police to declare a person a public drunkard. In that case, all local bars and liquor stores were forbidden to sell to that individual. Marie Constineau was thus names as a public drunkard and took her case all the way up to Scotus. It held she was denied due process because there was no appeal mechanism in WI law to contest the police chief's decision. That being said, I spent a February to March turn at Volk Field for a military exercise and was one of the few times I ever wore the full complement of my extreme cold weather gear. 60-70 mph winds with inches of snow and ice underneath it. Trust that he's reacting to what his team is seeing and making optimal calls based on that information. Posted by: The Central Scrutinizer at October 31, 2024 11:51 AM (KbCG3) To the contrary - it was ALWAYS going to be a slam dunk, just like 2020 was. The question is, how is the steal going to be stopped? People discouraged by 2020 should be reminded of how 2016 was SUPPOSED to be stolen by Hillary, but it was magically stopped (somehow). It wouldn't make any sense to stop the steal in 2016, but not 2024 (just look at how much stronger Trump is now than 2020, if you wonder why the 2020 steal was allowed). Nonetheless, Trump won't be careless - there's too much at stake to allow any screw-ups. NC was "iffy" last time too, so it doesn't seem odd for him to pay attention to it. It sounds to me like some of Blue States that normally wouldn't be in play, are this time. Trump will get PA this time, but may not even need it. True, but GA in 2020 was all because of cheating. I now put GA in the same category as PA: states that with fair elections would be GOP. PA by lesser margins, but still GOP. Once again, understanding the risk/benefit analysis is a challenge for all of us, so I understand the temptation to outsource it. At the end of the day the worst thing about the COVID vaccine was the push to make it mandatory, overriding individual freedom. I don't see any strategery in deliberately holding off on dumping fake ballots until the last second or even after. They may HAVE to do this, such as if even after their normal yuge pre-election-day cheat they're still behind (like in 2020), but that's emergency measures and not normal strategery.

Posted by: Helena Handbasket =========== Non sterilizing vaccines should be described more as a prophylactic than a vaccine. That includes flu, Covid, (dunno about RSV), etc. A sterilizing vaccine prevents replication of what is being vaccinated against and transmission to others. That type yields herd immunity. Non sterilizing do not follow that definition and are more a treatment to prevent the worst of symptoms than a barrier to future infection or transmission of that particular virus family. Here's the most important tell, imo:
NV sends ballots to every registered voter. Appx 80% of the total vote in NV is mail-in. That makes NV unique among swing states, and even among stretch states (where Trump could win in a landslide). I had reservationns about the mRNA vaccine from the get-go because of the fact that the actual amount of antigen produced in the recipient's cellls was not a fixed amount, so the dosing was variablle. So I took a wait and see approach. I have never been tested for COVID because I never got sick enough with cold symptoms annd was retired so didn't have an employer mandating it. As time went by, more and more evidence of afdverse events followinng vaccination convinced me that the benefits of the vaccine in terms of preventing serious sequelae of COVID were outweighed by my perceived degree of cross-immunity and basic respiratory virus precautions. Posted by: Dr. Claw at October 31, 2024 12:17 PM (jbnUc) Seriously? The "vaccine", which wasn't even a vaccine, killed as many people as the virus! Normally, they would cancel a vaccine if it killed even 50 people - this one killed tens of thousands (and those are just the ones that were reported). That's roughly the same number of people who died FROM COVID (as opposed to WITH COVID). Even THAT'S ignoring the fact that most of the COVID cases were probably really just the normal flu virus (which "magically" disappeared). It didn't stop you from getting COVID (although they promised it would), it didn't stop transmission (although they said it did), so it probably doesn't lessen hospital says either. If anything, it makes you chronically ill, on top of the vaccine injuries it caused (which is probably in the millions, in the US alone). It was a crime against humanity, for God's sake! The risk of myocarditis is real, but not nearly as impactful as portrayed. Even if the rate of myocarditis is twice that of the general (unvaxxed) population, 2 times a very small number is still a very small number.. By far the vast majority of vaxx recipients DID NOT develop clinically detectable myocarditis. Many talk as if myocarditis and death was a near-certain event following COVID vaccination. I would not fault someone who made a choice based on their own rational self-interest to either get or not get the vaccine based on the information available. So I make no claims as to the efficacy of the mRNA vaccine and think that a push for government mandated administration was the worst aspect. I also find the discussion about the definition of a vaccine and stealth editing of the definition to add nothing useful. This thread is long dead.
