The Morning Rant: Minimalist Edition

I have had a couple of conversations this year that had me scratching my head and biting back my usual retort when confronted by abject stupidity and ignorance: "You can't possibly be that f*cking stupid!"

The first was a long (too long... it was on a long flight) conversation with an ER physician with a second job as a medical editor. She was absolutely convinced of the efficacy of the Covid 19 vaccines, and was even more adamant that masking was very effective in preventing transmission of the Covid 19 virus. No amount of data in the form of peer-reviewed studies debunking the masking myth dissuaded her.

As for the vaccination? She carefully ignored the public...official...government and Big Pharma statements claiming the vaccine as essentially the savior of civilization, and accepted only the most narrow claims about its efficacy that were made well after the coercive push for its universal acceptance.

The second was with the vaccine tech at CVS who gave me a flu vaccine. She denied that there were ever any grandiose claims about the effectiveness of the Covid 19 vaccine, and claimed that the only statements were that the vaccine would decrease hospitalizations! No memory of the bald-faced lies of federal, state, and local government functionaries. No recollection of the huge push by Big Pharma, no understanding of why Americans are now looking twice at ALL vaccines, other than the smug, formulaic; "they don't understand."

This is, in microcosm, the typical mushy-headed liberal voter. They cheerfully accept carefully cherry-picked facts, conveniently provided by their handlers in the media and the higher reaches of the Democrat/Progressive political hierarchy. They are curiously unwilling to entertain even the remote possibility that the orthodoxy is incorrect, or even incomplete.

They are sheep...nothing more. They behave that way in all respects, and it is a quality that is used to great effect by the real thinkers in the Democrat/Progressive system. They dispatch their sheep onto the streets to riot, into the vote counting rooms to cheat, into the union meetings to lie, onto the school boards to push a deeply destructive view of America and its founding, and most of all to vote early and often for the candidates who will bring down the society that has provided the wealth and freedom that allows their behavior.

There are many flaws in the conservative movement, but the discomfort with a herd mentality is not one of them. Think back to the last significant political conversation you had with a conservative. Yes, there were many points of agreement, but more often than not those conversations expose differences. And that is how it should be. The concept of American Federalism allows for 50 incubators of political philosophy. It is a testament to the tremendous respect that our founders had for the individual, and the Democrat/Progressive hatred of it is testament to their fundamental disagreement with the notion of the individual being the building block of a free society.

Yet that herd mentality has provided the power that the left wields today, and the great question is whether a conservative movement can organize to take back that power while still respecting the innate superiority of the individual.

It's going to be an interesting ride!

The technology behind the flu vaccine is mature (it's 80 years old!), and there are a huge amount of data that show it is safe. So even if it isn't a particularly effective vaccine, I am comfortable with it. 50% effective in preventing infection is fine with me if it is almost perfectly safe.

But our government and Big Pharma have lied about pretty much everything, so I certainly understand why people are much more suspicious of all vaccines.

Living in the belly of the beast where most of my friends / coworkers / etc. are your typical well-educated, smart enough, reflective liberal voters, I'd say there's a few things at play.

A big one is social acceptance. The media paints a picture that all smart, well educated people support Democrats. They want to be a part of that club. That's why single women are much more likely to vote D then married women. Social acceptance.

And two is kind of hard to believe but true -- they don't know enough about anything related to politics to really form their own opinions. So they "borrow" the opinions of people they trust. Like late night comedians. And there is some weird psychological thing at play where if they don't know much on the subject, they assume everyone else knows even less (because they're smart and have a masters degree, so obviously they know more than a truck driver from ohio!).

At least with the internet I can do this research but its a shame that one can't trust the physician to give neutral advice that considers the side effects of the vaccine vs how sick the disease is likely to make the patient.

The community band that my wife and daughter are in was almost destroyed when some fool put forth the idea that the band should require proof of COVID-19 vaccination to allow people to keep showing up to band. At that time, the unvaccinated were being blamed for any and all COVID-19 deaths.

That effort was defeated, but several band members - barking-mad Lefties - stormed off in a huff. Unfortunately, most of them eventually returned.

I am trying to remember my epidemics class, but there are like 4 or 6 or so different strains that come together in different ways in the animal population. So Mathematically, there are like 6! number of strains that can be at any one time. They just pick one. Get a different combination and you did it for next to no reason.

It is supposed to lessen the visible, felt symptoms of the disease. (Whether it actually does is up to debate as well.) WITHOUT affecting the viral load in your body.

That was always what was so fucking insane. They were literally saying:

1) The disease stops transmission.
2) You can have the disease and think how much worse it would have been without it!

Pretty much masks are useless in preventing viral infection from respiratory illness. UV-C light and HEPA filtration is the better way to go.

Except it's not. There's a "closed loop" in a surgical room, where everyone SHOULD be sterile, if they're in there. The mask DOES keep MOST particles spewed into the openings of the patient, but it doesn't prevent them.

Which is why patients get sick all the time.

That's why I use the term vaxx instead. From the age of 4 I've had many shots which were mandatory for Africa - Yellow Fever, Smallpox, Typhoid, Polio and a few others that I don't remember. We had none of the typical childhood vaccinations of today such as Chickenpox, Measles, etc. Those you caught them and developed natural immunity. I can remember getting Chicken Pox and mothers of friends sending their kids over so they could catch it and be done with.

He didn’t say anything, maybe it did prevent me from dying, but I will tell you, I’ve had pneumonia twice before, took some antibiotics and I was fine.

I think it was on the Charlemagne Tha God podcast where the host interrupted her and tried to knock her off her talking points telling her she was repeating herself and she said "repetition is important to get my points across" or something stupid like that.

Like -- well, yes, that's true. But also, I'm sure the PR person who told you that meant it's important to steer conversations back to the point you're trying to make, not to literally repeat the same phrases over and over again.

That said, it's probably much harder to do than it looks. But Trump seems to be naturally good at it in a way that most politicians are not. Even if he verbally "wanders" a lot.

Two points: (1) Surgical docs wear masks to prevent mucous, sweat, saliva, spit, and other large airborne particles containing bacteria from dripping into open wounds on patients. The masks aren't designed to stop much smaller particles like viruses.

Doctors don't operate when they are sick, do they? No. Because the masks aren't effective at stopping transmission of airborne sicknesses.

(2) Surgical masks are much higher quality than 99% of the cheap paper masks used during covid. They are also put on much tighter than 99.9% of masks during covid.

Like -- well, yes, that's true. But also, I'm sure the PR person who told you that meant it's important to steer conversations back to the point you're trying to make, not to literally repeat the same phrases over and over again.

Not really healthy to wear those things long term as it ups your CO2 in blood, recirculates nasty bacteria, etc within the mask, and most are made of Chinesium which have appalling mfg practices if they can get away with it. Stick with 3M or some other known provenance.

They are also by and large useless. Made more useless for how people use them. A proper fit for an N95 mask is so tight it leaves welts on your face and you cannot touch the mask, adjust the mask surface, do things like touch your nose or face, etc. because viruses often act like the matching part of velcro to your skin. Touching anywhere around the face simply embeds the virus for being inhaled once you take the mask off and if you touch the mask surface, penetration for a virus is easy.

Anyone that went through MOPP training for chem and bio warfare and had to wear suits/masks/etc for extended periods of time were trained not to touch themselves in certain ways when taking off the equipment because it was very easy to 'contaminate' yourself.

Again, I'm sure it is much harder than it looks to be in her shoes. Especially since she has never really had to deal with it before. Most politicians have decades of experience dealing with cameras and reporters and unexpected questions, etc. by the time they're running for president. NC's elections are suddenly clean because the legislature forced through a series of election integrity measures (including Voter ID for the first time) over the D governor's vetos.

GA is probably going to be cleaner than 2020. There are actual measures taken by the election board (some of which have been put on hold by bad judicial rulings). Kemp has incentive to keep things clean if he wants to win a Senate seat next cycle, especially considering the primary process, and there are more eyes on it.

Also, early vote analysis shows blacks with a massive, massive gap in voting compared to last cycle in both states.

There are people voting early who would vote on election day, but patterns have mostly set over the past 4 years. You can dig into some states' data to see about the propensity of voters voting, and most of it ends up saying that both parties are digging into the high propensity voters at about the same rate, usually D's doing it more than R's (VA seems to be particularly bad about that, but it's modeled data, so far from authoritative).

Question is what’s the breakdown between those who just shifted their vote from ED to early vs those who are new voters.

Arlington County is 32.5K behind 2020 early voting.
So, 100K behind in those 2 counties.

VA as a whole is down 425K.

Biden won VA by about 450K in 2020.

I saw a recent interview of Seth Keshel, and if I got what he was saying correctly, Trump has PA by 4%, which is likely beyond the margin of cheating.

It sounded to me like he had that in 2020, when it was stolen, but I could be wrong. If anything, his support in PA can only be stronger.

Anyway, Keshel seems to know what he's talking about.

Meanwhile, even Dems realize they are suffering from Kamala's invasion of illegals. Don't know if Novavax ( a traditional design Covid vaccine has the clotting issue). That was documented from the J&J (rare and conditional) one and done vaxx which used adrenovirus as the carrier for their vaxx and the similar Astra Zenica (Oxford) vaxx used almost entirely in Euro land but had the two dose protocol. It seems that the second and subsequent doses of that particular vaxx design create the most risk of clotting.

Wife had a friend suffering from a digestive cancer of some sort. She was going through treatments, but her husband worked for a vet and was able to start an Ivermectin regimen. Her cancer went away. Dr's were stunned. She told them what she did and they got pissed.

One doctor highly recommended she get 'vaccinated' due to her recent cancer and vulnerability.

She did, her cancer returned with a vengeance and she was gone in less than a year.

But to counter some of your points about Kamala -- she has been largely protected / hidden from the public and media her entire political career.

Except it doesn't make sense to wait. It's much better to dump your shit early, bank your fake votes, and hopefully you'll never need reinforcements on or after election day. I don't see any strategery in deliberately holding off on dumping fake ballots until the last second or even after. They may HAVE to do this, such as if even after their normal yuge pre-election-day cheat they're still behind (like in 2020), but that's emergency measures and not normal strategery.

"All vaccines are bad" is a position taken by a fair number of commenters at this blog, and which I do not share. There is much that was done badly in the development and pushing of the COVID mRNA vaccine, but there are also vaccines with decades-long records of safety and efficacy.

Once again, understanding the risk/benefit analysis is a challenge for all of us, so I understand the temptation to outsource it.

At the end of the day the worst thing about the COVID vaccine was the push to make it mandatory, overriding individual freedom.

To the contrary - it was ALWAYS going to be a slam dunk, just like 2020 was. The question is, how is the steal going to be stopped? People discouraged by 2020 should be reminded of how 2016 was SUPPOSED to be stolen by Hillary, but it was magically stopped (somehow).

It wouldn't make any sense to stop the steal in 2016, but not 2024 (just look at how much stronger Trump is now than 2020, if you wonder why the 2020 steal was allowed).

Also, the early vote looks...really bad for her. She's running behind Beasley from 2022 when Beasley was winning the early vote by 7 points leading to a loss of 3 after everything to Budd.

Republicans are now voting more early proportionally to Democrats in the state, which has never happened in NC which has had early voting for many years (but this is the first year with Voter ID).

I've certainly questioned the 'received wisdom' that I grew up with, but to say the worst thing about the woofloo vaxx is the mandates seems 'reflexive' to me. Is your position that the vaccines (using the producers' term) work just fine, ie prevent catching covid-19 at all (which is what *I* expect from a vaccine, not this 'my-symptoms-were less-than' BS), and/or that they have essentially the same rate and severity of side effects of others?

EV doesn't help that. In person impersonation is the rarest form of voter fraud. Most of the fraud in 2020 was via mail in ballot fraud and vote buying of harvested mail in ballots (gift cards for unfilled ballots to be filled out by Dems).

Some was overscanning ballots multiple times in urban areas which happened in Atlanta which is easy to catch and also some weird glitches on reporting system (this is where you saw vote totals chryons in the meida roll back mysteriously which technically cannot happen with the Edison media feed.) No legitimate way to subtract votes from a candidate which was demonstrated several times on air.

Non sterilizing vaccines should be described more as a prophylactic than a vaccine. That includes flu, Covid, (dunno about RSV), etc.

A sterilizing vaccine prevents replication of what is being vaccinated against and transmission to others. That type yields herd immunity.

Non sterilizing do not follow that definition and are more a treatment to prevent the worst of symptoms than a barrier to future infection or transmission of that particular virus family.

Seems like I heard a thing or two about the Edison system. All major media uses it - they have some sort of weird monopoly - but it is not official. Nobody (outside of Edison, anyway) knows exactly how it works.

There are obvious signs, BTW, that the voting information comes from the machines over the Internet (you know - the ones with the "air gap").

But I'd say that the votes actually CAN go down. It's simply a matter of some election authority having screwed up and given you inaccurate numbers, and then correcting them later. I doesn't HAVE to be suspicious, but it is because of all the other shenanigans.

NV sends ballots to every registered voter. Appx 80% of the total vote in NV is mail-in.

That makes NV unique among swing states, and even among stretch states (where Trump could win in a landslide).

The early vote totals in NV thus far are awful for the DEMs, & Jon Ralston has taken note of it.

I think NV is the North Star for figuring out what's actually going on.

I think that late 2019 and into 2020 was a time of great uncertainty, with lots of information, much of it bad or even intentionally misleading. I had reservationns about the mRNA vaccine from the get-go because of the fact that the actual amount of antigen produced in the recipient's cellls was not a fixed amount, so the dosing was variablle. So I took a wait and see approach. I have never been tested for COVID because I never got sick enough with cold symptoms annd was retired so didn't have an employer mandating it.

As time went by, more and more evidence of afdverse events followinng vaccination convinced me that the benefits of the vaccine in terms of preventing serious sequelae of COVID were outweighed by my perceived degree of cross-immunity and basic respiratory virus precautions.

Seriously? The "vaccine", which wasn't even a vaccine, killed as many people as the virus! Normally, they would cancel a vaccine if it killed even 50 people - this one killed tens of thousands (and those are just the ones that were reported). That's roughly the same number of people who died FROM COVID (as opposed to WITH COVID). Even THAT'S ignoring the fact that most of the COVID cases were probably really just the normal flu virus (which "magically" disappeared).

It didn't stop you from getting COVID (although they promised it would), it didn't stop transmission (although they said it did), so it probably doesn't lessen hospital says either. If anything, it makes you chronically ill, on top of the vaccine injuries it caused (which is probably in the millions, in the US alone).

It was a crime against humanity, for God's sake!

The risk of myocarditis is real, but not nearly as impactful as portrayed. Even if the rate of myocarditis is twice that of the general (unvaxxed) population, 2 times a very small number is still a very small number.. By far the vast majority of vaxx recipients DID NOT develop clinically detectable myocarditis. Many talk as if myocarditis and death was a near-certain event following COVID vaccination. I would not fault someone who made a choice based on their own rational self-interest to either get or not get the vaccine based on the information available.

So I make no claims as to the efficacy of the mRNA vaccine and think that a push for government mandated administration was the worst aspect.

I also find the discussion about the definition of a vaccine and stealth editing of the definition to add nothing useful.
