THE MORNING RANT: Columbus Day Buck Shots

Columbus Ships.JPG

Happy “Western Civilization Day”

Happy Columbus Day to you all! The spread of western civilization and Judeo-Christianity to the Americas is worth celebrating. In fact, if the left is going to re-badge this holiday as “Indigenous Peoples Day” then I am inclined to re-badge it as “Western Civilization Day.” Celebrate with joy.

By the way, the “objective” media outlet Politico just disregards the official federal Columbus Day holiday altogether, matter-of-factly referring to it as “Indigenous Peoples Day.

Politico indigenous peoples day.JPG

Speaking of indigenous peoples, it’s joked that everyone in Oklahoma, East Tennessee, Western North Carolina, and North Georgia claims to be part Cherokee. Mrs. Throckmorton’s well documented family lineage includes a several-greats grandmother who was a Cherokee from the mountains of North Georgia. We know her name, as well as that of the Anglo rapscallion who wooed her and then headed west with her. My wife is not eligible for membership in either the Oklahoma or Eastern Band of the tribe, but she’ll always be my beloved Cherokee Maiden.

AI, Al, or A1

Unrelated to anything political, I dislike sans-serif fonts. Good on Ace and Pixy that this blog uses a font with serifs. My job has always required alpha-numeric work, and it is distracting to me when I have to use context to figure out if a character is a capital I, a lower-case l, or the number 1. Twitter (X) is my favorite source for news, but it uses a sans-serif font, so every time I read about “AI,” I read it as man named “Al.”

This sentence is virtually unreadable with sans-serif fonts: “Al, from A1 Technologies, said A1 is starting to integrate AI into all its operations.”

*****

Male Feminists vs Gay Guys

We’ve all had a good laugh at this comically awful “I’m a man” ad from Team Kamala. Some of the guys are quite apparently gay and were poorly cast for the roles they played in this commercial.

What bothers me the most is not that gay guys were cast in the role of rugged he-men, it’s that gay guys were cast in the role of “male feminists.” My wife and I socialize with several gay couples, and there are several gay guys who are valued friends of ours. I choose not to judge them, and I’m glad to have them as friends.

But I do judge “male feminists” and I want nothing to do with them. I’ll put this delicately…the men I know who have participated in marches wearing pink “hats” and who go on social media to bash other men while celebrating “empowered women” are creepy. Disturbingly creepy, just like the people pushing the transgender social contagion. It is reasonable to believe that the reason left-wing women are so hostile to men is because their experiences with straight men are bad experiences with “male feminists.”

Throckmorton’s First Law of Live Music, “If There’s an Upright Bass in the Band, It’s Probably Going to be Good”

Native American woman playing upright bass.JPG

Speaking of the lovely Cherokee Maiden who cohabits my happy hunting ground, here is Ray Benson and Asleep At The Wheel joined by a cavalcade of country music legends doing their recording of the Cindy Walker / Bob Wills classic “Cherokee Maiden.”

Have a blessed Columbus Day / Western Civilization Day.

>A false flag mass sho0ting that targets minorities
>Grid collapse on election night, all ballot data is lost, election is stopped and paused indefinitely.

I can guarantee that the only reason we don't have similar stories of the mass executions, cannibalism, murder, rape, and every other inhuman barbarism in the North Americas was only because most of them died out before extensive European contact could document such.

I mean, it was an empire as big or bigger as any in Europe.
So, it'd be like saying, "well sure, the Nazis controlled a huge part of Europe for a couple hundred years but all the other nations outside of that empire were kind and peaceful."

Yes, I wrote on one of my "anonymous" post-semester reviews that Zinn and Chompsky were POS.

Betting markets aren't magic. They don't have special knowledge. They're not free from manipulation. At best, they're an manifestation of the common perception which is created from other things, mostly polling.

222 Betting markets aren't magic. They don't have special knowledge. They're not free from manipulation. At best, they're an manifestation of the common perception which is created from other things, mostly polling.

But people have actual money on the line - as opposed to the usual left-wing Democratic pollster who spends five months demoralizing Republicans, and spends the final month before the election furiously recalibrating their polls to be closer to the actual results.

That gets real expensive if you try that in a betting market.

But yeah, they can be manipulated, particularly in the short-term, if you are willing to lose some money.

Fine. Just for the sake of argument. They're not manipulated.

Now, about that knowledge problem.

We just got an example of how the betting markets can be very wrong, about how Vandy beat Alabama despite the betting markets knowing, for sure, that Alabama would stomp them by 24 points.

How is that possible? Betting markets have special insight into things that cannot be denied, right?

These betting markets aren't huge. Reportedly, a few million dollars. It's not the stock market.

So, 10,000 people betting an average of $200 each, and you've got millions of dollars on the line.

1. That's incredibly easy to manipulate, but lets just assume it doesn't happen because no one would ever try to manipulate betting odds. It just isn't done.

2. There's heavy self-selection going on.

3. If these are small dollars without big dollars manipulating things, what information do they have that they're operating on?

When she went off to live in a college town parallel parking was the only option. She excelled at it. It does take some practice.

306 William Clark, of the Lewis and Clark led US Army expedition to the pacific ocean in 1803 brought his servant (slave) with him. York was his name. The Nations of the upper Missouri river had never seen anyone like him.

First they would try to see if the skin color would rub off. His hair reminded them a little bit of Buffalo fur.

Clark wrote that he enjoyed scaring the hell out of the little kids “my servant York makes himself out to be as terrible as he can be for his own amusement” something like that. The ladies also wanted to sample the wares … Plenty of Yorklets sprinkled around the upper Missouri.

The custom at the time, anytime a visitor showed up, your host would offer up his wife, or daughter for a little R and R. It was considered rude to decline. But they had to.

This made negotiations difficult at times for the Captains. What’s wrong with this guy? The rank and file were not so discreet and caught syphilus and gonnorhea, neither of which could be effectively treated at the time. Mercury was the medicine of choice.

greed - betting sites measure current Hype, which has a relationship to the state of the race but is not the measure of the actual race. So, it'd be like saying, "well sure, the Nazis controlled a huge part of Europe for a couple hundred years but all the other nations outside of that empire were kind and peaceful."

329 Speaking of manly things.

I can only think of one physical thing I've had since I was a teenager. And that was a set of Craftsman's tools I purchased when I was 19. Those tools have been with me since I didn't know shit about fuck to the point where I'm pretty handy on almost anything. What does tools could tell you about growing up and becoming a man has nothing to do with gender or politics. It has everything to do with being willing to take chances, be responsible and see a job through until it is completely done.

The other thing it could tell you about me a man, is how you take care of things that are important to you. I've only lost one socket in all the years I've had that set. And I kid you not, it was the 10 mm. But by taking care of those tools I've been able to take care of myself and the people I love when they needed me the most. Whether it was changing my son's battery in his car when he was stranded at Florida State or repairing my house after one of the hurricanes. But most importantly they've been able to help me maintain what I've worked for my entire life.

That's a 107 piece now right. That 10mm wrench is missing.

367 It cannot be "Indigenous Peoples Day" for the simple reason that the definition of indigenous is:
Indigenous. relating to or being a people who are the original, earliest known inhabitants of a region, or are their descendants: the Indigenous languages of the Americas.

We know that the people occupying the various lands and regions in Columbus' day had taken those lands from earlier people who'd been inhabiting them. Therefore, they cannot have been "Indigenous".

Perhaps a better title would be "Snapshot of Conquering Peoples Day"

368 I've had the pleasure of meeting everyone of the people showcased in this video excepting MR. Wills and the Violin player. What an age to grow up in Nashville, TN.

369 Almost all indian tribes took slaves. How is this not known by everyone?

History these days is taught to engender contempt for one's country.

LASue, I never knew about the deaths from disease that preceded the western expansion until today. https://tinyurl.com/369rrh3a

373 It must be happy Muslim day, the mosque, which was a church a few years ago, and Bada bing Bada boom, muzzies all over the property

Anyway, the women are all wrapped tighter than a burrito and made to walk behind the men, except for this one guy, who had 3, young ladies wrapped tighter than mic jaggers pants, he was on top of them, lest some younger male lay claim

Muslims, so great to have around

Lucky they haven’t bought in the neighborhood, but that will come

375 Late to the thread, but I got put on the naughty list for pointing out to my employer that "Indigenous Peoples Day" is not the name of the holiday in the Federal calendar. I didn't even mention the Admiral of the Ocean Sea by name.

There was flurry of pearl clutching after my statement.

LOL.
