My new host spent a week cleaning up the back end crap wp engine had installed on my website.

Wordpress is probably in the wrong here, but I have little sympathy for wp engine..

28 Evening and morning, early risers and Sunday toilers!

I'm up, having coffee, have to feed the beasts momentarily. What more d'you want.

Actually, I could want some cooler weather . . . and strange to relate, I have some. It's 69 F. right now, when usually at this hour and time of year it's more like 75-77. Humidity is fairly high, but the temp is down. My workout at the track this morning should go well.

Still got to hit Walmart for a few things later. Grrrr.

29 And we've got our staff lunch tomorrow at a local seafood place. (Pun alert: It's gonna be scaly!) I suppose it won't be too bad. Like a lot of things in life, it consists mostly of showing up. Staff meeting via Chinese spyware on Friday; I'll vote on the way home; and then the weekend.

If you've noticed that my life seems to revolve around the weekends, you're very perceptive.

"Why don't we have a similar tool for Donald Trump, the Republican nominee for president? The answer isn't political. Our newsroom can't offer the same level of expertise when it comes to the former president."

33 I'm trying a new coffee: Aldi's Midnight blend, a dark roast. $5 for 12 oz, whereas Cafe Bustelo, which they also carry, is the same price for 10 oz. Pretty good stuff with a little sweetener and milk.

No breakfast yet -- well, maybe I can have a little juice -- before I go to work out as it gets light. That's the hardest part of driving to the track; I tend to wake up early, and yet can't go before it's at least dawn.

Miss Linda likes that most of the decorations involve animals, specifically black cats. She puts a few black cat- with-pumpkin decorations on my windows and front door every Oct. Maybe when I have my house I'll put a couple Halloween-themed items out during that month. Maybe.

As for me, I gave in and bought a pop-up Halloween card with a haunted house and a long-haired black kitten in a cliche witch hat. It's on my bookcase as I speak; no reason to bring it to work.

We always knew they were pro actors. The problem was that the tone came off as a subtle parody. "I eat carburetors for breakfast"? Most of their intended voters -- and the writers, and probably the actors -- wouldn't know a carburetor if it sat in their laps. The term just *sounded* (what they think of as) manly.

By 1994, as far as I can tell, all passenger cars sold in the United States had some form of electronic fuel injection. Most trucks, too, but there was one exception: the Isuzu Pickup. If you bought the base-level 2-wheel-drive model, you got a 96-horsepower 2.3-liter engine with a 2-barrel carburetor.

60 A really good PSA for them to study would have been the one where a schoolteacher (it's implied) is taking to his daughter as they prepare dinner about how she should tell an adult if she notices something wrong at school. "Dad, no kid is gonna tell an adult about that kind of thing." "I get it. But if we don't know, we can't help. . . . That's what being a friend is all about." It's all low-key; the reason for the conversation (apparently a kid at her school went ballistic and did something illegal, we don't know what) is clear without hitting us over the head, etc. It seems like we are eavesdropping on a real conversation between father and daughter.

99 When a weather station temperature gauge’s white paint or white plastic ages and darkens, this allows more solar radiation to be absorbed by the gauge than when the gauge is bright white and new. Within a span of just 2 to 5 years, a gauge has been observed to record maximum temperatures 0.46°C to 0.49°C warmer than in gauges that have not undergone an aging process.

About half the change that has supposedly happened since 1900.

157 Gray wolf update:

Colorado Parks & Wildlife have concluded their nearly three week long capture operation for the wolf pup who was born in the wild and had not been collared and tracked. The pup had been seen on trail camera images and staff have been in the field for 19 days attempting (unsuccessfully to locate the wolf. The reason cited for stopping the search?

"With temperatures slowly declining, CPW has decided to conclude the capture portion of this operation for the safety of the wolf pup."

So Lone Wolf #1 is free to roam, and will be safer on his own in the mountains in winter, separated from the pack, without a telemetry collar, foraging for squirrels and rabbits? I guess if he gets hungry enough he could move up to household pets, chickens, lambs or toddlers. No concern for their safety apparently.

Nice, CPW. You had one job to do.

Their politics is their religion. This is why I call them Yard Sign Calvinists, because they are justified by their opinions alone. When bad things happen to political opponents, that is the wrath of God proving them right.

It's really funny how deep into this they are. They mock the 'sky god' (and blaspheme the Eucharist), but man are they quick on the trigger to attribute hurricanes, tornados, cancer, etc. to peoples' sins.

Hillary gave the game away with the 'deplorables' tag. They see much of humanity is made simply to be damned. No point in trying to convert them, they were judged before time began.

Carburetors are engine parts that mechanics talk about in old TV shows, so that's why it was included. Tinkerbelle sitting on a grill is presumably what men do when chilling out, much as one might lean on a counter in the kitchen.

I liked the guy who braids the #$%! out of his daughter's hair because that's supposed to be a manly way to talk about feminine stuff. I have three daughters. I left the braiding to their mother and or the oldest sister. None of the men I know who had daughters did hair braiding 'cause they were guys with short hair and didn't bother to learn the craft.

I've seen a lot of people saying the Snapdragon X PCs aren't selling, possibly because people are scared of Microsoft's creepy auto-screenshot AI thing. (Qualcomm for their part are slow-walking Linux support for them).

The sexes are supposed to be complimentary. There are things men are good at and things that women are good at. Since I didn't have enough hair to comb for 21 years, I did not do much hair care for the girls, and this was widely understood as reasonable.

My wife in turn deferred to me in yard work and home repair. Affluent liberals outsource that sort of thing, so the men are pushed into the female sphere lest they not "do their share." They then try to valorize themselves for braiding hair because they can't pull-start anything and have no idea how the oil gets into the thing.

Seems like the lawsuit is over the issue that the law says the voter rolls can be changed 90 days prior to the election. If they were serious about voting integrity, they'd just demand voter ID and in person balloting. There's always exceptions but there's no need to have unrestricted mail in balloting.

I was of course making a rhetorical point. The Dem assumption is that the downtrodden will vote for them. If, however, they were culturally conservative and devout Christians, suddenly it would be an invasion.
