I could maybe get behind the 1916 one. So, tonight's game is this: If you could, what amendments would you add to the constitution? Here's a few I've thought of.

A) Congress may not exempt itself or any federal agency or department from any laws which apply to The People.

B) Congress Shall not pass any bills containing more words than the Constitution as in force at the time of the law's passage, inclusive of any active amendments.

C) No regulation, statute, law or guideline made by any federal agency shall be valid and binding on The People or The States unless it is passed by the Congress of the United States and signed into law by the President.

That's a good start, what have you got?

All America’s Problems are Leftist Problems

The problem with solving problems is that once they are solved, no one needs the solver anymore. The better kinds of problems are recurring problems that ensure customer retention, employing plumbers, locksmiths and police officers, but the best kind are the completely unsolvable problems.

And those are the only kinds of problems that the Left wants to solve.

Given enough human ingenuity and technological development, most problems can concievably be addressed and that is why the Left has to contrive to make them unsolvable by either causing the problem (homelessness), defining it in such a way that it is inherently unsolvable (equity), defining the inappropriate problem while obscuring the actual problem (gun violence) or inventing fake problems (global warming) that can never be solved because they don’t exist in the first place.

Why create unsolvable problems? They’re a virtually infinite source of money and power.

The Left came into being by defining inequality as its signature problem. Since inequality is a factor of human nature and every attempt to solve it involves creating more inequality, it was the perfect unsolvable problem. But the primal leftist error was defining inequality in social and economic terms. Growing technology and social mobility made both social and economic inequality managable even as leftits were building up a full head of steam, toppling governments and setting off revolutions.

It's actually fun to see the expression on someone's face if you can get them to realize that government has no reason to solve problem X, because if it did, then all of the government agencies and unionized employees dedicated to X wouldn't be needed anymore.

Comparing Helene To Katrina Suggests Americans Are Left To Die Because Democrats Run The White House

The devastation wrought across the American Southeast by Category 4 Hurricane Helene last week has naturally drawn comparisons to the 2005 Hurricane Katrina response. As a veteran of military logistics, I can confirm that President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris’ response to this round of mass suffering has been orders of magnitude worse than federal actions taken after Katrina.

In August of 2005, I was a U.S. Army colonel serving on the Army staff in the Pentagon. Before Hurricane Katrina was even nearing landfall, I was detailed as a shift officer in the National Military Command Center (NMCC) for hurricane support operations. As a career logistics officer, this was the culmination of a noncombat mission I had been associated with since I was first commissioned: disaster relief and humanitarian support operations.

He then goes on to compare the response in both cases, and gives a list of seven possible reasons. Beyond the general incompetence that's built into the equation when dealing with Democrats, I lean towards number seven.

Say hello to Joseph Nathan Ryan, “a Springfield, Va., resident who lived with his grandmother and a small dog,” according to the Washington Post, until one day in February 2023, when he was shot to death as “part of an elaborate ruse that lured a man interested in sexual fetishes” to the home of a married couple “in a well-to-do suburb of the nation’s capital.”

My brother Kirby told me about this story, and after doing some research, I remarked to him what I’ve often said before: “There’s a reason why some things are called ‘fantasies,’ because if you try to do them in real life, bad things happen.” Certainly, Joseph Ryan would agree, were he still alive to discuss the subject. What brought Ryan to the home in Herndon on the day of his death was a website called “FetLife,” catering to the devotees of bizarre sexual fetishes, where Ryan’s account handle was “tacosupreme7000.” He had been communicating with an account with the handle “Annastasia9.”

40 US Soldiers Stranded in Israel on Oct 7; Hamas Knew Their Names, Ranks, Locations

Forty U.S. Army soldiers who were in Israel as the advance team for what they thought was a routine training exercise last October 7 suddenly found themselves in the middle of a war, unarmed, and being forced to beg reluctant Pentagon officials to send an Air Force plane to extract them.

Approximately a quarter of the soldiers were just miles from Gaza in off-base housing near the IDF’s Tze’elim base when the attack began. A group of local Israelis – IDF reservists, police officers, and ordinary citizens – got them to the base, which Hamas terrorists were quickly heading toward. With his men in mortal danger, the U.S. team leader requested permission to open the arms locker so they could retrieve their firearms but was denied at the US Central Command level and “denied and/or ignored” at a level above that, according to a military intelligence analyst with knowledge of the mission and exfiltration.

But in America, Jews and their Jewish organizations had leaned so far into their leftist identity that this was difficult to accomplish, especially as October 7th brought the realization to many of them that their leftist friends were very much not on their side. 

For those of us on the right, we had to be patient and watch them figure out for themselves the serious mistakes they had made over the course of decades. Some are not quite there yet and it’s been hard to watch. 

Some Jews, you can not reach. Every Jewish society in history had people who lined up to help the enemy and ours is no different. Jewish Voices for Peace, and nonsense groups like that, are Jews who use their Judaism only to harm other Jews with it. Their stupid tallit, meant to be worn only in prayer, suddenly a shmata they wear to choke other Jews. They cry out for peace only when it’s time for Jews to fight back and never when Jews are attacked. They are best shunned and forgotten. 

Then there are Jews who do get the moment, understand what we are up against, but have spent so long in their “we’re Democrats-first” world that they don’t know how to adjust to our current time. 

There are people in this world that I will never understand if I live to be a million. “Gays for Gaza” groups, for example. That's like “Chickens for KFC”. Blows my mind.

In the initial sales pitch to Hezbollah two years ago, the new line of Apollo pagers seemed precisely suited to the needs of a militia group with a sprawling network of fighters and a hard-earned reputation for paranoia.

28 Funny you should ask, I was just reading about the "missing 13th amendment" the other day. It's a sort of conspiracy theory jumping off point, some interested researchers who stumbled upon it looking for something else in old musty statehouse records. If you find certain books published in the 19th century between certain years they will list it. There is some dispute about proper ratification or not, of course.

That way, we can incorporate states not in America, like Fredonia, Latveria, or the Duchy of Grand Fenwick.

I remember, when Alaska and Hawaii were added, thinking (in my naive little-kid way) that there isn't necessarily a limit to the expansion of the Union. What if Canadian provinces wanted to join us, or northern states of Mexico? After all, we do (or once did) have the perfect template to allow such expansion, in the Constitutional Republic model.

Getting all those new stars in the flag would be a bit tricky, but that never stopped us so far.

Alas, now in my jaded aged experience, I realize that even many of the existing states don't adhere to the Constitution. But, you know, we could make America great again. Somehow…

A. No person who entered the US illegally at any age -including as a minor - shall be allowed to vote in any election, nor shall they be eligible to hold public office. Retroactive to include those amnestied in 1984.

B. The electoral college shall be increased by one vote per state.

C. The voting age shall be 23. Active duty uniform military may vote at 21 while active.

D. Naturalized citizens shall not be eligible to vote until they have resided in the US for 5 years.

E. The maximum income tax at all levels shall not exceed 20% of gross income. OR The maximum difference between the highest and lowest tax bracket shall be 20%. No deductions of any kind allowed.

That's a start. I have others.

Dogs and most other pets as of the last 10-15 years have been elevated to the societal norms of human children in the US which I find to be wrong on so many levels.

Especially now-adays when I have to scold patient family members NOT to bring their dog into my medical clinic as it violates so many health codes to begin with.

Yet they always retort "THIS IS MY THERAPY DOG...Or THIS IS MY BOGUS SERVICE DOG!!"

I'm so very over all of you that think Dogs, Cats, Birds, (I think all of this Bullshit started with "POTBELLY PIGS")

think your animal is worthy of status equal to human beings.

It lowers the status of human beings in general.

And that I find appalling.

And I also think that somehow...someway this aberrant physiological construct was implanted here to further weaken this nation.

Go chew on that.

64 The amendment I've been touting for many years is to have Congress meet in a different state every year, starting in alphabetical order.

For the state hosting Congress, it would be bigger than hosting a Super Bowl. Think of all the economic activity with the staffers, the lobbyists, the prostitutes and other camp followers. The state could choose to put them in one convention center for the year or, like the Olympics or the World Cup, could spread them out.

It would have the salutary effect of requiring members of Congress from the northeast to actually see the country they deign to govern. If a side benefit were to induce some members, on the margin, to choose not to make Congress a career, all the better.

I like dogs in general and I love my dogs. They are companionable. They bark at the door and let me know when strangers are around.

They are not people and they don’t go everywhere with me. I have no problem leaving them in a crate for hours on end..

a For certain 'process' crimes - like what happened to Gen'l Flynn - the gov't should be required to provide the defense an amount equal to what was spent investigating and prosecuting. Also - the maximum penalty shall be no more than $5. And no criminal record.

b. Simple possession most items (guns, self-produced narcotics, other 'weapons') shall not be a crime unless 'intent to use to commit a crime' can be proven in a court of law. Again - cost of defense shall be borne by the prosecuting authority. Obviously dangerous items like radioactives or biohazards would not be included.

c. Any year the federal budget is in deficit - unless congress declares a state of emergency - the amount of that deficit shall be recovered in the form of a flat tax on incomes and capital gains in the next tax year.

d. A 'make work pay' law wherein the first $20K of a lesser earning joint filer's income shall be exempt from tax. Think a non-working spouse who gets a part-time job.

I felt that was kind of an 'apples to oranges' thing. I remember paying $400 in 1976 for a 1968 Olds 88 with 79000 miles on it. It was considered near-junk with that many miles and being that old. It only made it to about 105000 miles and the timing chain failed and I ended up junking it.

That stat has skyrocketed since 2021, according the thread, and you know what else has skyrocketed since 2021? Illegal immigration and presumably anchor babies. You can tell alot about a society by the way they treat animals and old folks. Some people carry things too far, but I don't think it's wrong to love your pets like family.

Agreed, and I'm of the generation that started the trend. However, I lived in an area where marrying someone you met in high school or early college was not unusual. I think when you get married at that age and are surrounded by families, you tend to think "babies" rather than "furbabies."

Diddy's connection list, though mainly music, is just as varied as Epstein's when it comes to other well-known 'celebrities' (for want of a better word) -- and just as perverted. Your theory has somewhat been proven correct. My mother-in-law is a piano teacher, and teaches public school, Christian school, and homeschool kids. The local public school has become quite secularized, to the point that kids don't know Christmas carols. They only know pop songs like "All I Want For Christmas" but not even carols like "Carol Of The Bells" that don't mention Christ. It's disheartening for my MiL.

I was thinking of a proposal made by Prof in "The Moon is a Harsh Mistress." A bicameral legislature, with one house to create laws and one to repeal them. The "create laws" house would need a 2/3 majority to pass anything, because if not even 2/3 of people support it, it's probably not an idea that should be forced on everyone. The "repeal laws" house would require only a 1/3 minority to repeal, because if a third of everyone thinks an existing law is bad, then it probably is.

Lots of great ideas in that book.

On jobs, some of it is malice - because depending on who is in the WH (D) or (R) the adjustments are usually different. Dems are wildly optimistic, GOP underreport. Kind of the make a small promise then beat expectations attitude. But some of the survey instruments they have for employment doesn't work very well today. And it is causing issues.

Anyone country with a statistically significant black population is going to have higher IMR. (Infant mortality rates)

It cuts across socioeconomic lines. Black women give birth to babies with proportionally lower body weight, and body weight in infants is a major factor in survival. The theory at the time is that it was some sort of evolutionary respinse from the African feast/famine cycles.
Also, at least in the 90s, infant mortality stats ( all mortality stats, actually) are ( were?) calculated in wildly different ways across the world. In most European countries, again in the 90s, a baby that dies within 72 hours of being delivered is considered a miscarriage. Same with preemies; a preemie could live for weeks, months even, but if it died before it reached 72 hours after it's original due date, it would be a miscarriage.
Life expectancy is also crazy. Other countries don't count accidents or suicides. Many countries don't count death from disease in with it, either. They are just looking to see how long a healthy person will live. The US just enters the age at which you died. Lies, damn lies & stats. 😉

Aurora was faintly visible here, according to my cousin. She's getting to be quite the astro-photographer, and she got some shots of it. She cheats with some cameras that can see things the nekkid eye can't.

Sort of a mixed bright pink with some other hues, probably digitally enhanced by his phone. When I lived in Fairbanks the aurora was primarily a greenish hue. I'm not sure how much the smart phones are embellishing the appearance. We can't see anything with the naked eye here about 180 miles south of his location, in southern Colorado

Hey Wierddave! Absolutely agree. This corrects that and makes it quite explicit. The correction of apportionment to mean apportionment by citizens only also erases the use of illegal immigrants to improperly bolster a state's voting power in the House of Reps (I am looking at you CA!) and also stops the ridiculous "estimations" of illegals by the Census bureau to include in such calculations

HK is still not fully under Chy-nah yet so it's still livable. The security laws, however, have wreaked havoc and there has ben a steady flood of ex-past and wealthy Hong Konginese leaving for freer climates ("Hong-Couver" Canada being a popular one). I would go see it before it finishes transiting to full Chi-com. Still a blast to visit with great restaurants and bars and nightlife. Not sure if you ever went to Ned Kelly's - but I highly recommend - dive bar in Tsim Sha Tsui Kowloon with an awesome Jazz Swing band

I wouldn't say no to that, although if I am a US Citizen and I have a child with a non citizen, as long as that Child is born to me AND is "subject to the jurisdiction of the United States" i.e. born in the United States or territory etc. then I think it reasonable to expect that my child is a US citizen. If not in the US, then, as you suggest, the child would have to apply for and receive citizenship under any rules congress passes. My amendment requires that the child be born of at least one parent who is a US citizen AND be subject to the jurisdiction of the US, when born.

But I am not adverse to saying both parents be US citizens.
