waterspoutneartambabayflbyjoeymole.jpg
Waterspout in Tampa Bay, by Joey Mole
This was taken before any of the most recent hurricanes

Backyard farm.

Escapism.

The Long Con.

These dogs know who butters their biscuits.

This lynx immediately became Big Man on Campus.

Secret passage.

I don't think he's saying "Little Timmy's trapped in the well."

Petting the new pupper.

Golden monkeys hug it out.

The Florida police found the man who tied his dog to a post on the side of the road as Hurricane Milton approached. Ron DeSantis says he'll be prosecuted for animal cruelty.

Dog captain.

76 I'd like to go on record stating that H G Wells was spot on. The reason we will never inhabit another planet (and the reason we will never get an in person visit from any other species out there) is because "visitors" would not have the immune system to deal with all the viruses and bacteria.

Just take a gallon of good old earth sea water. In a single gallon you will find 10 to the 35th power viruses and bacteria. And, unless your species was here for a length of time to develop a natural immunity to most of it...you're screwed and so is Marvin the Martian.

The only planets we can likely got to and live are ones where nothing is growing, and nothing will ever grow. In short Billions of dollars to go see the biggest ball of twine in the Midwest.

Mismanagement.

It's a bit apples to oranges but there was a popular restaurant in my hometown that went under but not for lack of business. My understanding is the owner passed the responsibilities to his kids who proceeded to fuck up all the financials and *POOF* permanently closed.

Then it got sold and turned into an overpriced Italian restaurant that wasn't any better than Olive Garden.

Anyway, now I want breadsticks and margaritas.

Afrin should only be used for a 72 hour period MAX!!!

If you are using it longer than that well these are the side effects you're looking down the barrel at...

Blurred vision

fast, irregular, or pounding heartbeat
headache, dizziness, drowsiness, or lightheadedness
high blood pressure
increase in runny or stuffy nose
nervousness
trembling
trouble in sleeping... so there!!! and get ye to some more benign saline rinses to do instead. A cool mist nebulizer at your nightstand and maybe an open window at night could help you sleep better.

I thought a molten iron is non magnetic, and won't set up eddy fields. I am not arguing, but heating the iron in an electromagnet makes it stop working as a magnet eventually.

---------
They are. The referenda Quebec has held about separating have been provincial only and not national ones. And while the Rest of Canada was supporting keeping them in back in the '80s and earlier, they've gone to the well too often that if they held another one, they'd see the ROC say "f#ck you -- leave!" and, like me, demand a national concurrent referendum to boot them out.

394 >> I thought a molten iron is non magnetic, and won't set up eddy fields.

It's not ferromagnetism that generates the field, it's actual electric currents. The rotation generates convection currents which produce electric currents.

This planetary dynamo process is quite complex, and they're only now getting a good handle on the details.

In recent decades, there's been a lot of ink spilled on the subject of carrots in chile.

Let's face facts: these carrot-boiling freakazoids are a tiny, aberrant fraction of society. They're a threat - but not a prevalent one.

They're only real threat to chile is that they serve as a constant distraction from the true adulterant. The one we all face in our own towns, when we sit down to eat.

You know what I'm talking about.

Tomatoes.

Every day, decent, G-d fearing Americans sit down at tables across the fruited plain, order a bowl of chile, and get a bowl of tomatoes.

And don't even get me started about beans. Beans! They put beans in it!

I'd rather it had fentanyl in it.

It's high time we had a national conversation about chile.
