The Comments of The Week

One of my least favorite things to do. It's really difficult to narrow the choices down to only a few each week.

The Quotes of The Day

Quote I

“Regardless of the motives, I believe that destroying an artwork on display is unacceptable. Such acts not only undermine the museum’s role as a public space but also pose potential physical threats, beyond merely damaging the meaning an artwork carries.” Artist Ai Weiwei

Quote II

"Trump doesn’t really know how to stop the war even if he might think he knows how." Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky

Well you certainly don't Junior.

Quote III

"It's sobering, but one of the takeaway findings is the shared neuroanatomy between religious fundamentalism, confabulations, and criminal behavior," corresponding author Michael Ferguson

Fwd: My name is being dragged through the mud

Hogan for Maryland

Nonstop false attack ads.

Millions of dollars flowing into Maryland from outside groups.

***** my name is being dragged through the mud and I’m outspent in this Senate race.

If you are with me–if you want to put an end to this type of toxic politics–then I am humbly asking you to chip in a donation to my campaign.

CHIP IN

I’ve always said this would be an uphill battle.

Now that we have less than 50 DAYS until Election Day, we’re facing the steepest climb yet.

The polls are extremely tight. In fact, two recent polls show me TIED in a DEAD HEAT with my opponent.

Poll Alert graphic

It is encouraging to see my Senate race so close heading into the final stretch, but we CANNOT take it for granted. Will you please chip in a donation to my campaign?

CHIP IN

This news has lit a fire under my opponent and her national allies.

They never expected to have to work so hard in Maryland this year.

Now, they are trying everything they can to bring down my campaign–and they’ve resorted to the lowest, most negative form of politics as a result.

If you turn on the TV, odds are you know what I’m talking about.

They plaster the airwaves with lies and negative attacks, and expect Marylanders to buy it!

But you know me. Marylanders know me. You know I will never bow down to extremists in either party. And you know that I am in this race to solve the biggest problems we all face, not add to them.

That’s why I’m reaching out to you today. I urgently need resources to push back against the onslaught of political attacks and close the spending gap with my opponent.

CHIP IN

With time running out, your immediate support WILL make a difference.

Please consider chipping in today. We are in danger of falling critically behind in spending, and if we do, it will be a monumental task to win on Election Day.

Thank you,
Gov. Larry Hogan

A Personal Message from Governor Larry Hogan:

Governor Larry Hogan

Hi, it’s Governor Larry Hogan.

When I launched my campaign for the U.S. Senate, I did so with a deep resolve to maintain the leadership style and principles that guided me during my eight years as governor.

Fifty years ago, my father, Maryland Congressman Larry Hogan Sr. made a tough decision. He became the first Republican to come out for the impeachment of President Nixon. He put aside party politics and his own personal considerations and stepped up to do the right thing for Maryland and the nation.

Today, Washington is completely broken because that kind of leadership and willingness to put country over party has become far too rare. But it’s not in my nature to sit back and watch the dysfunction continue without doing what I can to roll up my sleeves and get to work.

I’m under no illusion this will be an easy road. But I’m no stranger to uphill battles, and I know I can’t do it without your support.

I don't aspire to be a United States senator. I don’t need a title and I don’t need a job, but I’m more concerned than ever about the direction of the country and I have become more convinced that I can make a difference by taking the approach and style of leadership I had during my eight years as governor to Washington.

It’s no surprise this mindset has made me a target of the Washington partisans. Despite early polls showing a lead, I know I’m the underdog in this race. And that’s why your support TODAY is so crucial.

So if you can chip in a donation of $25 or more, it will go a long way in helping me continue building a strong campaign.

For eight years, we proved that the toxic politics that divide our nation didn’t need to divide our state, and we got results! Let’s get back to work again and send a message to Washington that will be heard loud and clear across the country!

Will you join me today and help end the dysfunction in Washington?

Thank you,
Larry Hogan

Seeing I'm a Wisconsin Cheesehead, not sure how I got onto this RINO's email circle. The nice thing about the internet is I can perform research. And if you can't vote for the Republican POTUS nominee why should I give you one red cent? The f**cking balls on some of these politicians.

If I were Don Meredith I might start singing about turning off lights ro such nonsense. Goodbye KMart.

New York
CNN

Kmart, once one of America’s leading discount retailers, is closing its last full-size store in the mainland United States.

The store, in Bridgehampton, New York, on Long Island, is due to close October 20, according to an employee who answered the phone at the store Monday morning who did not want to give her name. The manager of the store was not available, and the corporate owner Transformco, the company that bought the remains of Sears and Kmart out of the bankruptcy of Sears Holdings in 2019, did not return an email requesting comment.

The chain still has a small convenience store version of itself in Miami, but not the full line of offerings that Kmart was once known for. That location does have some larger ticket goods, though, such as appliances. It also has stores in Guam and the US Virgin Islands, where it does not face competition from more successful big box stores.

Bizarre, FloridaWoman Again Busted For Dildo Battery
In repeat of 2022 incident, Floridian jailed in sex toy tiff

SEPTEMBER 13--For the second time in two years, a Florida Woman has been arrested for a dildo-related domestic battery.

Chelsea White, 35, and her boyfriend were in the kitchen about to eat when the man discovered that his missing “glass dildo” was inside White’s backpack in the couple’s Fort Pierce residence.

The “mother of his child stole something from him and it got physical,” according to an arrest affidavit.

During an 11 PM tussle, White and the 35-year-old victim exchanged assorted blows. After the pair briefly separated, the man told cops, White began hitting him again “after he went to grab the backpack.”

Good morning (at least for me), everyone. In Abu Dhabi, UAE for the next two weeks teaching a class to sone engineers on one of our poorly performing programs.

69 This AI shit ... AI did this or that. AI is going to get us all. AI is the devil.

I have to come clean.

I have also written code that allows "machines" to "think". Seriously - they'll turn a certain parameter - imagine it as a
"volume knob" - up or down for you. It's called PI control - any of you that still work in a factory (I know) have seen these things, even if you don't know what they are.

Get this - "AI" is just a bullshit name for tools - written using math - to smooth edges and "recognize" patterns in images. That shit got started - quite literally - about twenty years ago.

AI my ass. Piss on Newsome. Might as well pass a law against most better photo-edit software. As if its better when a sexually ambiguous something in a studio drags a cursor over an image.

I would put the keel down EVERY night if in deep enough water. That way you have a daily safety test. If it doesn't work, then into port.

If a storm is even a remote possibility close EVERY water-tight hatch.

What little that has been reported so far sounds like "negligent discharge" level stupidity from the captain.

There’s also a plaque on the spot where the Captain of the guard, who had fired his gun into an angry crowd and killed a boy, was lynched by that mob.

254 I was lucky enough to visit Edinburgh once, and in Haymarket Square there’s a plaque where the old gallows stood, and a note that in the late 1700’s, there was about a 20 year period were there were 2 - 3 hangings there every day. There’s also a plaque on the spot where the Captain of the guard, who had fired his gun into an angry crowd and killed a boy, was lynched by that mob.

Edinburgh used to be a pretty wild and nasty place.

My parents didn't smoke but I knew kids whose parent(s) did and they bought them cigarettes at a 7-11 type store as you said.

I was told a story by an older guy back in the early 2000s. In this neighborhood at an earlier time, there were a lot of Irish and Germans, and their social institutions and drink. He said as a kid he was sent with a big bucket to a bar to get draft beer for his dad's supper and bring it home. He said it was not unusual for kids -- nor the bars -- to do that.

Different time, different world.

At that time the ability of the sheriffs and guard to catch criminals was pretty poor, so they made ferocious penalties to discourage the others.
One of the benefit of the English police, the Bobbies, is that they allowed for milder penalties. Although it might have been the other way around, that a drive for less cruel penalties created the need for more efficient cops.

Here's PART 1 of a funny ....
The Difference If You Marry a Canadian Girl

Three friends married women from different parts of the world...

The first man married a Asian girl. He told her that she was to do the dishes and house cleaning. It took a couple of days, but on the third day, he came home to see a clean house and dishes washed and put away.

The second man married a Greek girl. He gave his wife orders that she was to do all the cleaning, dishes and the cooking.

The first day he didn't see any results, but the next day he saw it was better. By the third day, he saw his house was clean, the dishes were done, and there was a huge dinner on the table.

319 PART 2

The third man married a girl from Canada . He ordered her to keep the house cleaned, dishes washed, lawn mowed, laundry washed, and hot meals on the table for every meal.

He said the first day he didn't see anything, the second day he didn't see anything either but by the third day, some of the swelling had gone down and he could see a little out of his left eye and his arm was healed enough that he could fix himself a sandwich and load the dishwasher.

He still has some difficulty when he pees.

The only good news is he is no longer married to a Canadian woman.

347 Sorry to do this but I also found a stash of French jokes (yes about the people). Now remember these come from another era. Nowadays we may be just as bad.

Q: What do women who are snipers in the French military, use as camouflage?
A: Their armpits.

Q: What’s the difference between a Frenchman and a bucket of crap?
A: The bucket

Q: Why it is good to be French?
A: You can surrender at the beginning of the war, and the US will win it for you.

348 My Grandfather was a milk man during the off season. He delivered from a horse and wagon to peoples porch or icebox. Mom used to ride with him on occasion. Otherwise he was with a carnival. He had a canteen and fed the carnies, not the rubes. Mom was with him and was the "Bodlyless Head" in a side show. The Hoochie Coochie girles, as she called them, looked after her in off times. She was nine when Grand-paw died.

Joe Burrow, the Bengals' QB, annoys me. It's only half rational, but he does. A certain smug, poseur quality.

Burrow won a playoff game at Arrowhead a couple of years ago, & witty Bengals fans took to calling it "Burrowhead," get it?

So... Bengals are 0-3 now, & tonight they lost to the Commanders (Redskins). They also lost to the Pats earlier.
