9 As usual, had a couple of FWPs while handling the livestream for church services today.

During the first service, we lost internet connectivity for a few minutes so the stream was also disconnected.

During second service, one of the cameras froze up so I had to record/stream using CAM2 instead.

If I want to use of the bank's ATMs, I now have to drive six miles to do so.

Apparently banks are taking out ATMs, because so many people no longer use cash.

I'm so old, I remember when some banks started charging fees to use a teller, so people would use the ATMs instead.

People in low-trust societies have lots of cash. (I'm not sure if it is still true, but it used to be that there were more hundred dollar bills in Russia than in the United States.)

As the United States transitions from a high-trust society to a low-trust society, the incentives to hold cash increase. The government will do everything possible to stop that, of course.

To soothe the irritations of today's FWPs, I'd like to recommend "The Outbursts of Everett True", a two-panel comic by A. D. Condo that ran from 1903 to 1927.

Everett True is sixtyish, bald and portly, usually dressed in morning clothes and a bowler hat. The first panel describes some annoyance caused to Everett, the second his verbal or physical thrashing of the miscreant.

Obtuse salespeople, race track touts, officious cops and train conductors, ill-mannered youths, talentless musicians, pretentious poets and other assorted clueless are the victims of his ire. As are those who mistreat animals. Beat a horse, bait a bear or kick a dog and you can expect to be clubbed by his cane or umbrella.

The sole person to get the better of him is his wife, the formidable Mrs. True. Criticism of her cooking or dress always earns Everett a wallop.

The vast majority of sellers on GunBroker charge an additional 3.5 to 4 percent for payment by credit card. Bud's Guns gives a small discount if you pay by money order or cashier check. I've never calculated what the discount percentage is. A major liquor store chain in my area charges an extra 5 percent if you pay with a credit card instead of cash or debit card. They list both the cash/debit and credit card prices on the shelf tags.

The grease gun fitting has a tight fit around the Zerk and when pulling the grease hose off, the Zerk popped out of the ball joint. SHIT! I find out that on newer GM trucks the Zerks are press fit into their seats. Mercifully I was able to tap the Zerk back into its seat and it appears to be in there solid. What happened to screw in Zerk fittings? WTF.

Nope matters not whether discount or surcharge. Running into more and more companies charging for using your card. Cards keep moving up their percentage and businesses are increasingly deciding you the consumer will pay for it.

Debit cards used to be much cheaper to run, but I believe that has changed and it no longer makes a difference. SHop owner told me no longer cheaper to run the debit card.

Changing the lamp on Dodge Grand Caravan headlights - they have a plug in the wheel well so you can access the back of the headlight assembly, but you need a hand the size of a toddler's with the grip strength of an adult to actually remove the lamp. I just remove the entire assembly from under the hood.

When we built the new house, we got five ceiling fans, two in the main room, one in each of the two bedrooms, and one on the screened back porch.

We discovered one of them went clickety-click all the time. Of course it was the one in our main bedroom, where we'd most like to have the fan on.

Yesterday, the clever son came by and worked on it. Thought maybe it was just a loose bolt holding a fan blade on. But, of course, you have to take the whole light assembly out to get to those. Well, it wasn't a rattley fan blade. He ended up taking the blades and the whole housing off, and found there was an electrical wire that hung down and was being hit by the rotating hub's bolt heads. Pushed the wire up, reassembled everything, and voila![ silent running fan.
