For anyone who says they don't want poll news: I want the poll news. I've been tearing my hair out for three weeks.
Some decent news, though Trump's one-point lead is obviously inside the margin-of-error.A New York Times/Siena College poll released Sunday shows former President Donald Trump holding a narrow lead over Vice President Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential race. Trump leads 48% to 47%, moving ahead of Harris, as both candidates prepare for their upcoming debate on Tuesday. Key Details: The poll, conducted from September 3rd-6th, shows Trump leading Harris 48% to 47%, with a margin of error of 2.8 percentage points. 28% of likely voters say they need to know more about Kamala Harris, compared to only 9% for Donald Trump. Trump holds a commanding 13-point lead over Harris on the issue of the economy, while Harris has a 15-point advantage on abortion.Trump has a two-point lead, 48-46, when the third party candidates are included -- which, of course, they should be. Nate Silver's probability index reflects the polling large and small, and calculates that Donald Trump currently enjoys his biggest percent chance of winning the election in November than he has since late July when Joe Biden was his Democratic opponent.Let's hope Trump does okay at the debate.

They werent so openly in tsf's pocket back in 2020. Polls all come home close to election day, so they can say they were right. They hoped to lull dems into thinking their vote wasnt needed. That burned us in 2016.
She got a bounce. A big one. My guess is that nationally, she's running 6-8 points ahead of Trump, and anywhere from 2-4 in the battleground states, including closing in on Florida and Texas, where there are major voter registration efforts bringing in big numbers of potential democratic voters. It's just being suppressed in polls to keep close, because close polls sell newspapers, or attract eyeballs, or whatever.
I live in the Philadelphia suburbs and I am stunned by how many Trump signs I am seeing even in blue areas. Just starting to see Harris/Walz signs, which did just become available, but the number of Trump signs is shocking and I'm just not seeing the kind of enthusiasm on the ground that I would have expected based on what they are saying on the news. It's nothing like 2008.

I've also been following the polls pretty closely. There is a guy on X, David Chapman who has been my go to person for good break down of the polls. My takeaway isThe fact that Trump is so close in the National polls means that he has the EC vote handily. He trailed Hillary by much more and still locked up the EV in 2016.
The NY Times breakdown by region shows Trump ahead in the South, Midwest and West by substantial margin. Harris can't win if she only carries the East. Think Dukakis or Kerry.

If I had to guess, I suspect this run up for Trump in unfriendly/unreliable polls is mostly related to setting up a (fake) big poll jump for QueMala after the debates.
It's still too early for the fake polls to be showing close approximations to real polling this far out from the election.
Polls around the middle of October will slowly start reflecting reality.
Hopefully,Coconut harris will botch the debate so badly that the fake polls will be laughed at.
Of course, Trump will be debating a tag team including the "moderators" every time QueMala gets into trouble.

That is a poll with ballast because it makes sense. If we can remain in a path that makes sense based on what is known about demographic groups, we should be fine.

Leads of 6% result in a strong victory. We are in territory where NC, GA will fall, Florida will be in play assuming this carries to election day. I am optimistic that will be the case because Tuesday's debate will further reinforce the trend.

To be honest, she has a great commercial that ran all over the football games yesterday.

We decided we weren't screwing around with cheap crap anymore and bought a Bosch. We were very happy with it until this weekend. Apparently this model had a recall for electrical issues. The bridge in the junction box melted. We bought a new power cable and junction box, cut back the house Romex wire, then installed everything. It didn't work, then we remembered we turned off the water under the sink. All working now.

Hoping your wife is handling chemo ok. There are some very nice head coverings she can find that will cover the hair loss. When my daughter was going through it, she reached a point where she just shaved it all off. Found some nice head coverings online. She tried wigs, but never really wore them.

There is a couple of big thinkers out there who claim that he knows what he is doing, in that he is waggling in and out of linear thought to tie his critics up in knots.
It really is a way of informally debating, and if you know your stuff well, and keep track of multiple skeins of thought at once, you can get an opponent to concede important stuff while negotiating what they think is essential.
I wouldn't want to negotiate against him, I suspect I would get exactly what he wanted me to get, and make me feel like I won the day.

I have a relatively new Kenmore (I think? Got at Sears before they went kaput) top load washer & dryer. Was their top-of-the-line. Worst pieces of sh*t of ever seen. Clothes come out almost as dirty as they went in, even on "deep fill" extra wash extra rinse. I've taken clothes out and they literally still had clumps of mud on them, like they never even got wet. The dryer is ok, but it complains because the vent pipe is long and it senses too much back pressure.
I'm on a well so I don't care about water usage. I think I'll replace the washer with a speed queen TC5 classic unit.

Look for Cascade Boil Out online. It has phospates, which were long since removed by the EPA from detergents. It is typically used commercially to clean out deep fat fryers, which it does pretty well to clean of polymerized oils and greases off of cookware, in addition to cleaning out hard water scale.
We use it periodically, and a box is going on two years. No idea what it does to septic systems.

Our GE fridge lasted nearly 50 years. My parents' house warming gift to us in 1974. I did any repairs myself over the years....minor things, replacing the defrost timer, taking apart the evaporator fan motor and re-lubing the motor shaft bushings. But, in June, the compressor finally locked up, so we had to replace the old GE with a new stainless steel model. The old one was Harvest Gold and like an old friend. At our age, if we get 10 years out of it, I'll be fine. Made sure this is a fair clone of the old one with a top freezer. Basic model, no control boards. I retired after 53 in the electronics field, so I have no desire to be repair or replace a control board every few years.

Her parents were not citizens when she was born, so I guess technically an anchor baby? Not not sure they wanted to be anchored here as they didn’t stay here, nor am I thinking they were purposefully having a baby on American soil like the term conjures up. But regardless, she was born here and as of this moment, that makes her a citizen. I think we are barking up the wrong tree claiming otherwise.
It should be more widely known she grew up in Canada. I think that is important information to get out there that hardly anyone knows.
