One morning, an artist's model arrives at the studio. The painter says, "I'm not feeling very good today. Why don't we just have some coffee and relax?" The model agrees, and the two sit down to some steaming joe. Suddenly, there's a knock at the door. "Oh, my God!" the painter cries, "it's my wife! Quick, take off your clothes!" Love this painting on several levels. The soft lighting makes the room look comfortable while still allowing some highlights on clothing, the model's back and reflective surfaces of the items. There is a still life quality to the setting. And the artist really captured the restful, cozy feel of the topic as the two relax from the discipline of painting and posing. Thoroughly pleasant and enjoyable.
Would I prefer the model from the front? Yeah, I am a guy. But taking the frontal nudity out of the scene adds to the relaxed moment being portrayed. Nice choice, CBD. Posted by: JTB at September 11, 2024 09:58 AM (zudum) 100

Posted by: tubal at September 11, 2024 *** Tubal, it's raining lightly here now. I brought some trash to the dumpster -- if the power goes out, I don't want a bag of garbage stinking up the place -- and had to wear a rain jacket and hat, but it's not bad yet. The storm has moved up to a Category 1 hurricane; some news pundits locally are saying it's *possible* it'll become a 2. My area doesn't flood, so the only thing I'm really worried about is the power failing. There's food and water for me and the cats, the car is gassed up and ready to roll if need be (and it's parked away from trees). If the power goes out, I have a battery radio and battery-powered lanterns. If the power stays out, well, I can load the cats and a bag into the car and roll somewhere else. Which reminds me, I need to locate a hotel outside the area which will accept pets. Posted by: Wolfus Aurelius, Dreaming of Elsewhere at September 11, 2024 10:05 AM (omVj0) 127
Everyone knows that if you yank those limeware platters off the wall and drop them immediately before the guard can stop you, you'll get away with it because you're still in the tutorial area. Then you can pick them back up and hock them at Arrile's down the path in exchange for a weapon and some potions.

She will have an ear piece in and will not play with her hair or uncover one ear the entire time. From what I read in the threads last night, the camera angles and her hair hid one ear the whole time she was on camera. Posted by: Sponge - F*ck Joe Biden at September 11, 2024 09:07 AM (Zz0t1) Just reading Que Mala's body language last night, I thought she probably had an earpiece. Basically, it's why she looked so childishly reactive. If Trump scored a hit, her face would fall and she'd look kinda stupidly fearful or blank, then after a few seconds of, I guess, someone yelling into her earphone, "Smirk, damn you! Smirk like the wind!!!!! Put your chin on your fist and smiiirrrrkkk!!!" Trump got under her skin several times. But, I'm guessing the earphone and unprecedented help from ABCcommiehacks helped a lot. Or, a couple of weeks of electric shocks and dog treats, trained her well-enough for this "Debate". Either/or. I have never in my life seen someone come up with so many sick burns to the comment someone said two segments ago as she did. What normally happens in a debate is you respond to what the other person is saying right after they say it. From what I saw and I did not subject myself to the whole thing, I saw no less than four times where Kamala had a "burn line" response to something Trump said in the previous round instead of to what he just said. Anticipated storm surge — anticipated being the key word there.
Before Sally came ashore, the forecast storm surge for my area was 2-4 feet. The actual storm surge at my house turned out to be 9 feet. I know that because my property sits 8 feet above sea level and we got a foot of water into the house, measured by the mud line on the walls after the water had receded. No you stupid twits. Gas was $1.68 under Trump. It's still up $1.20 Posted by: rickb223 Gold & Silver Spot Prices at September 11, 2024 *** Gas was over $2.00 here, more like $2.20, for most of his time in office. It only dropped to $1.65 during the early months of the Sniffle Scare, when people were driving less and demand was lower. I remember being startled that a local station that offers ethanol-free regular, and naturally charges more for it than E10, was offering it at $1.65 in March and April of '20. I made a special trip once a week to fill up there. Right now I'm seeing $2.85 for 87. So it's up .65 -- but it has been as high as $3.40, so there was your $1.20 increase. Daily Art Magazine, March 30, 2023: Life and Art of Jose Ferraz de Almeida Júnior (Written by Maya M. Tola)
An interesting, succinct article of a great artist's life. In part, "Despite his considerable success in religious and historical themes, Almeida Júnior moved away from these subjects to adopt more regionalist themes. The work from his later years evidences the influence of Naturalism that deviated from the rigid academic paintings of his time to more realistic portrayals." And, "While at the height of commercial and artistic success, Almeida Júnior’s personal life was afflicted with drama that resulted in his untimely demise." I like this painting but wonder if it's a self-portrait of the artist and also how often someone would have tripped over that carpet. Even if I had the room, I might pass hanging this for one or two others in his collection. Thanks. Polls (spit) are ranging from mixed to slight Trump gain.
At least two of the stupid "undecided panels" that networks have gave the win to Trump pretty solidly. given his comment in this first tweet he has never had a WOC, who has a serious position, dress him down and air out his faults @FrankLuntz The more Trump spoke tonight, the worse he did. The last time a national candidate achieved this feat was Sarah Palin in 2008. @FrankLuntz After this debate, the Harris campaign will have little reason to do another one. Where is this nonsense coming from that she hurt herself visually? She looked good right from the start and all the way through. Her poise was a sharp contrast to his agitation. Her body language and facial expressions communicated her confident stability and his insanity very well. Totally authentic throughout. Not to mention elegant, intelligent and consistently interesting to look at. My favorite pose was the crooked elbow/finger to the lips posture; a perfect blend of scorn and confidence. Strong women can be seen as angry or less than polite. Anything less than deference to men is tagged as angry and impolite by some men. Throw in some skin color and Frank can fuck off. The Dow is dropping because investors wanted a deeper rate cut by the Fed.
But the Fed is fooked. They cant do the rate cuts because the government is so under water it will collapse things. But the market and bankers are telling the fed to cut rates. Now that I've slept on it, my short take on the debate.
Last night I was angry that Trump took the bait too many times, and allowed himself to go on tangents about his crowd size, etc. This morning, I'm more righteously indignant at Harris and co. I keep thinking about her smug look whenever she knew she'd gotten Trump to take the bait, and I realized she is playing games with my life, my children's future, and the potential downfall of America just to stick it to "Orange man bad." I wish Trump had called her out on not having an policies but just wasting time on nonsense like rally sizes, while the price of bacon and eggs is 200% higher than four years ago. He didn't. Oh well. I noticed it anyway. Hopefully the rest of America did too. Posted by: Shenanigans at September 11, 2024 10:50 AM (pZ0Mr) 300

>>> Taylor Swift endorsed Kamala for president and no one should be worried.
Reposting my ONT thoughts: I was dreading an inevitable Taylor swift Kamala endorsement, but nowjust find it hilarious. She should've gone on stage last night of the DNC, it would've given the convention a lift. Instead her timing couldn't be worse. 1) Her holding one of her cats is supposed to be a cute Swiftian swipe at childless cat lady comments. But after 24 hours of relentless Trump cat memes, it's lost its teeth. 2) she was seen with Mahones' wife at the US Open, who has unapologetically liked Trump posts on social media. Her fans are furious at her for not cancelling Mahones and throwing her on the social media pyre to burn. She thought the Open be a cutesy way to support a friend, instead it's blowing back on her. So this quick endorsement is as much to rehabilitate her with cat lady lib fans as it is to rehabilitate Kamala. 3) It's coming out immediately after a lackluster debate. It stinks of trying to rehab Kam... send in the swift!!! If she actually goes to her rallies and sings for her, then I'll feel this endorsement might be genuine. Otherwise it's just lip service. She knew the media wouldn't fact check her so she comes off as truthful while lying literally about everything. IMHO, Trump blew it by not doing prep work. It would only take a day, but he would need to shut down his ego and pride and self-confidence and admit that coaching and practice really pays off.
It could have been so much more had he done that. Shutting down the attacks by the mods, snubbing off their accusatory questions (we all knew what they would be), and turning to his issues and plans. And pointing out her constant barrage of attack lies. Posted by: Mr Gaga at September 11, 2024 11:00 AM (/g/b3) 349
No one noticed that the artist has four fingers and the model six?
There used to be a cartoonist named Virgil Partch (he went by the signature "VIP") who drew his characters with six or sometimes seven fingers on each hand, because it was his way of rebelling against his art teacher who kept pointing out that Partch had a habit of multiplying fingers. 340 First time I voted Trump because the alternative was unthinkable. After 4 years I voted Trump because of his record. I'll vote Trump this year also, there'll be no question of that. It's a relief to vote for an American again.

FMJ: I did enjoy the whole movie but didn't quite get the reason for the second part particularly since most of the day-to-day stuff was in the bush. maybe two different scripts by different people married into one movie? Also it's Hollywood so every Nam movie has to have a negative connotation for US forces.
Goldman, of Princess Bride fame, wrote his first book at a young age. I had it as a paperback, "The Temple Of Gold", about the main protagonist in HS then Army. Boot camp was an interesting part and had a loser just as in FMJ. Posted by: Ciampino - boot camp at September 11, 2024 11:02 AM (qfLjt) 355
Totally authentic throughout. Not to mention elegant, intelligent and consistently interesting to look at. My favorite pose was the crooked elbow/finger to the lips posture; a perfect blend of scorn and confidence.

What happens if she wins?
This has me quite troubled. I trust God in all things mind you. But I feel sad for what I think is coming. Like she's promised she will have mandatory gun buy backs. They are that crazy. Posted by: AlaBAMA at September 11, 2024 11:02 AM (aPY1X) 357

What does that America look like?
Posted by: Robert at September 11, 2024 10:58 AM (STrjs) Much of the Republican Party still asleep and rising political star Kamala Harris on her way to an easy victory over some shitty dummy who hates us. They would have gotten away with a lot more during Covid too. I always said, far back as 2017 or 2018 right here, that the plan had been Hillary for eight years and then the coup de grace (which I used to spell wrong) on America with Kamala in 2024. I have receipts. It's startling but not surprising they were able to put Kamala back on the track with a stolen election and then not a single vote for her. I feel like Cassandra sometimes. Posted by: AlaBAMA at September 11, 2024 10:57 AM (aPY1X) It wasn't genius. It was a malevolent, crass thirst to protect the power of the Ruling class at any cost. The Constitution vested sovereign power in the people of the United States of America, and our would-be Caesars cannot abide that mandate. So they lie, deceive, imprison, murder - whatever it takes for dominance Posted by: mrp at September 11, 2024 11:04 AM (rj6Yv) 361

The most annoying thing for me about Swift is she just refuses to grow up. I actually had hopes she would, during the pandemic, with her more mature, unplugged sounds of her two pandemic albums. And then the pandemic ends and she starts her press for the tour, and it's the same old tired mean girl pretending to be nice schtick she's done since her 20s. Kissing and telling in music and pretending she has no power and is the bullied one. Making her fans overpay for overpriced crappy merch and buying the same album twenty different ways to prove they're the ultra swifty.
Luckily, her endorsement skills are about on par with Obama's, so picking Kamala doesn't mean it's in the bag. I'm most in how Swifties for Trump will handle the news. Posted by: LizLem at September 11, 2024 11:04 AM (044C6) 363
