121 Dead animals aren't my favorite subject but Snyders' still life is impressive. The use of lighting to bring out the details and realistic color of the game is fascinating and absorbing. There is a glow to the fur and feathers. I also enjoy how it provides insight into the place and time. I would love to see the full size painting to better appreciate the brush work.

CBD has used at least one other of Snyders' works, maybe more. There is a consistent impressive quality to his paintings.

128 Well, the lovely Andrea Burkhart made the Daily Mail a few days ago, covering the divorce proceedings of Ioan Gruffud and his soon to be ex, some Evans whackjob.

Evans took a picture of Andrea in court, and texted that Andrea was a stalker and insane. The bailiff made her delete the photo, since photos were not allowed.

Andrea started covering this divorce (going on fours years now) when Evans said she would be an "Amber Heard" to Ioan, and has been critical of Evans' shenanigans.

lets stop feeding the MAGA message. This Springfield, Ohio cat/pet eating has gone global. I have friends in Australia that have noted this mess. The outrageous tone of this pet eating story is historically a MAGA tactic.

I just wish those posting about this topic would title it something like "animal abuse humor - trigger warning." (Btw, is animal abuse humor oxymoronic or what?). Some people have heavy trauma in their backgrounds

Again, we are weak kneed and don't know how to take the fight to the enemy.

164 Speaking of the ONT...

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice non-spoilery review

Terrible.

So the slightly longer take is that I didn't like it but I didn't actively hate it, either. It did have redeeming qualities but they were generally few. I had low expectations going in. Then I saw it was written by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar. After that my expectations hit rock bottom. So the good news it's completely different from the original movie. The bad news is not in a good way. Gough and Millar are mostly known for teen dramas like Smallville. Yep.

I didn't laugh, maybe just kinda chuckled a little. There's a running gag involving Willem Defoe's secretary that's actually amusing. The explanation for what happened to Jeffrey Jones' character was very creative. Beetlejuice is now canonically Spanish.

Winona Ryder is up there in years but she looks pretty good for her age. Giving her the same haircut as she had in the original was a bad idea. Jenna Ortega is just YOWZA! The things I'd do to her. I want her to abort my unborn child. Gaw'DAYUM!

Going in with low expectations and the movie still disappoints. Worth the ten bucks? Uh...not really. Wait until it hits Netflix.

180 The “Wish my son was murdered by a white guy” rhetoric is almost certainly a spook suggestion, duly repeated.

If not a direct one, someone as worked over and guilt tripped into uselessness as a liberal public school teacher may not need to be prompted. We heard another stepfather in Iowa a couple years ago basically say the food is so much more diverse after a college female jogger was raped and murdered.

The narrative is important, and these gentlemen could in theory, start a mass movement if they were to display any normal righteous indignation. That’s how they always start, after all. A spark.

Can’t have that. That’s how you get “wish it was a white guy” thought ending arguments.

An early example of Frans Snyders’s animated combination of highly ornamental still-life elements with secondary figures and a low viewpoint, this scene might have adorned the dining room of an aristocratic collector. Snyders was the leading Flemish painter of monumental still lifes. 224 This is a really American quirk we're seeing.

Our government has spent two decades aggressively flooding the country with immigrants, legal and otherwise, with absolutely no attempt at integrating them.

These people are draining our treasury, stealing, raping, killing and spreading disease, all in the cause of marginalizing the citizenry and handing their country over to the oligarchs, lock, stock and barrel.

But what gets everyone's dander up is when they start eating the pets. That's what gets people pissed off, of all the things.

It's similar to how you can make a movie that's 90 minutes of torture porn, with graphic depictions of people having their eyes burned out with a blowtorch - but G-d forbid you show a dog get killed.

Or how an NFL star can do a double homicide and get a statue, but if he gets caught dogfighting, it's OVAH.

Groundhogs.

What's the best way to get rid of them without a firearm? (Widow's gotta keep a low profile in the neighborhood, right?)

Hubs shot a few, but he also worried about the neighbors, so he mostly killed them with the bow, or the Tahoe.

Not sure I'm big/strong enough to handle the bow (and would be a complete novice - so it would likely take too long to learn). And not sure I've got it in me to just floor it. (What can I say? I'm a girl and always will be.)

Son-in-law brought a trap over this year, and he got one and released it. But then when they went off to school, and everyone forgot about the trap. And, ewww. Took me 3 hours to gather the courage to clean it up. Don't wannt have to deal with THAT again.

A dog.

My first greyhound was going out for a walk and she lunged underneath the porch. A moment later, she was shaking a groundhog like it was her favorite toy. She threw it and the beast took off running.

Two days later, I'm walking her and we encounter the same groundhog. They sniffed each other for a few seconds and she suddenly realized what he was.

Beast took off running and we never saw him again.
