A Woman Dies at Her Desk and Is Found 4 Days Later; It Says Volumes About Our Lack of AUGUST 26--A Minnesota wedding photographer hid a camera in a bridal suite and surreptitiously recorded a woman--who was “in her underwear with her breasts exposed”--getting dressed for her nuptials, according to a criminal complaint. Police learned of the video voyeurism when the photographer’s wife recently provided them with a thumb drive containing the video, as well as “other sexual conduct material” that is not further detailed. Upon examining the video, investigators were able to identify the bride who was secretly filmed, as well as the wedding venue (The Barn of Chapeau Shores in Albert Lea, a city about 90 miles south of Minneapolis). The video, “taken from a very low angle,” was shown to the 27-year-old victim, who confirmed that she was the woman recorded. The victim identified Mitchell Ringness, 30, as the still photographer, adding that he was not hired to do “videography or boudoir photography.”" Speaking of ego. If it's the Tempe office that also contains one of their data centers then I've worked in that cube farm. High cube walls with narrow openings, barely wider than an office chair. Quite believable that someone could die in there and not be found for a while. You can walk right by one of those cubicles and not see if anyone is even there or not without expressly looking. I think the idea was to prevent people from accidentally seeing sensitive data. Looks like it worked a little too well. Posted by: Blanco Basura - Z28.310 at September 03, 2024 10:12 PM (dZVON) 46

It just is what it is. Nobody is so challenged by the arithmetic.
Communists elevate criminals above normies because criminals are allies in the war against normies. They use the criminals in the streets against the nominally free populace to keep them in fear. The ones who show courage get tossed into trains and cells and other enclosed spaces with criminals to teach them fear. Tyrants can find common cause with criminals, but not with normies. It ain't rocket science. Posted by: Yudhishthira's Dice at September 03, 2024 10:19 PM (0FoWg) 72

There was a story about the Patent Office (where the real introverts hang out in one-man offices) that involved a death that was not found until Count Monday. Urban legend. He was found by the janitorial staff that night.
But we did have a male lawyer stealing purses and using their credit cards, and a shooting that was not found until the morning. Patent Office has stories. Somewhat related to the dead lady in the office. I heard a story about a mail room manager at the State Department. He was going through a nasty divorce and had some really bad finance issues. Basically, homeless. So, he fixed that by living at the State Department. Nobody noticed. He was the first guy into work and the last one to leave. He was up there on the FedGov food chain. It was only for a few months till he could financially recover. Not being noticed can be good and bad.

I think the woman in the office died on a Friday; so two of the four days was the weekend. It's a bank, so no one was there.
And her cubicle was well off the path to the water cooler. So it's... kind of understandable. When I worked in a cubicle farm like that, I didn't want to know my neighbors, and the feeling was mutual. Easy could have checked out and no one noticed. The lawless left: A judge ruled this week that Vanderbilt student protester Jack Petocz, who was one of three who violently attacked and injured a security guard in the process of taking over a building on March 25, 2024, was not exercising his first amendment rights and can be prosecuted for assault and face an almost yearlong prison sentence.
There is an Antifaette "journalist" who for years has engaged in theft, vandalism, assault, and similar activities, always without the slightest consequence, because she did them in Portland. Then, in 2021, she decided to engage in assault and riot in a suburban Portland county. Oops - no Soros DA there. She kept putting the trial off, in the obvious hope that if she delayed long enough, the charges would be dropped. Nope - she went to a jury trial, the deputy DA did a fine job and got her convicted, and she gets sentenced on Monday, with a high probability of a prison term. She burst into tears when the verdict was announced - after years of being able to do whatever she wanted without consequences, I'm sure it was nightmarish that she was actually held accountable. I gotta point out that the "dead for four days" story is just the usual media sensationalism. Died on Friday, found on Monday.
Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday, that's four days, OMG, the callousness of our society!!! Let's do a little reality check. She was working late Friday, and died after everyone, or almost everyone had left. If I was working late and someone else was inthe office as well, we didn't usually check out with each other. No callousness required. Saturday and Sunday no one was in the office, or at least didn't pass her cubicle. Her body was discovered early Monday. No one ignored the rotting corpse for four days! The one thing that gives pause - no argument a person can get tucked away in a cubicle or office without anyone knowing pretty easily. But employees pretty much everywhere swipe in with a card, or some sort of who's here today login.
Wage employees, at least "they" will notice Right Away if someone didn't swipe out at the end of their shift because they are well into overtime hours and that kind of thing. "What time did you go home last night" will be the first words out of a supervisor's mouth. Maybe they don't look at stuff like that, but they probably should. Was she salaried, maybe they were looser with that. I can't help but think there was a computer login that should have been flagged. I thought the last thing I heard was they were tracking everyone's mouse movements to ensure productivity, and in turn workers were downloading an App that would simulate actual computer work to avoid malingering, gold-bricking cubicle farm dwellers. Quite possibly. The assault was witnessed by one of the county commissioners, who had attended much of the trial. Midnight just slipped by me. How can September be burning by so quickly? I think it's a relative thing. It's a 30-day month following two 31-day months. It's a condition calendarians call februariosis.

Glad summer is nearly over! Forecast says only 1 more week of 100-ish temps, and then... weather will once again be fit for human existence.
The older I get, the less I can tolerate the heat. Sucks to be me, right? Pfft. Anyway-- finally over the bronchitis attack & able to do "normal" things again! Yay! Got so far behind, though. My body whimpers as I realize what all there is yet to do. Posted by: JQ at September 04, 2024 01:15 AM (njWTi) 276

Unless you work in HR, with access to insurance records, that's bullshit. HIPPA is intended to protect medical RECORDS, as maintained by hospitals, medical practices and insurance companies. If you're not discussing information obtained from a source like that, it doesn't apply. The only thing keeping employees from sitting around the lunch table comparing colonoscopies is a sense of decorum, not a federal law. Posted by: buddhaha at September 04, 2024 12:09 AM (Pwf7s) I worked projects that brought videoconferencing systems into operating rooms. Mostly teaching hospitals. When HIPPA became law, I was assured by more than one chief of network security (yes, it was a thing even before the Internet) that I could and would be personally liable if the live video of a procedure somehow leaked to a third party. Maybe they were bluffing, but I did compare that experience to the scenario in which my boss in 2021 had his assistant call me to inquire as to my COVID vax status. I informed him that I would not be releasing my private medical information to him. I was tempted to point out that, according to my read of HIPPA, he was committing a felony simply by asking.. You're at work, and one of your cow-orkers says, "Where Mary?", and you say, "She just had her hip replaced."
HIPPA violation? If Mary said to you, "I'm having my hip replaced next week," or you heard it from her daughter, who bowls in your league, the answer is "No". If, OTOH, you had to approve her sick leave request, and she tod you as you were initiating it, te answer is "Yes", because the sick leaveform is a medical record, and you obtained the info ancillary to its creation. Even overhearing it in that circumstance is a violation. Posted by: buddhaha at September 04, 2024 01:58 AM (GeKyq) 287

When will the @#@§ pumpkin oligarchs stop tampering with our food?!? Posted by: 13times at September 04, 2024 02:06 AM (Pmzap) I have yet to comprehend why this insidious trend ever started in the first place. I do not ever remember in my lifetime thinking, 'I'd sure like to drink a steaming cup of pumpkin pie right about now'. Hazelnut's just about the only flavor I want in my hot coffee, and not the liquid additive crap, either. (Iced flavors are great, a refreshing light milkshake in the hot summer; I never drink iced coffee in the winter, in fact it's getting to that early morning low temp stopping point, upper 50's-low 60's.) Had a small gathering here earlier today, nothing special, just some together time. I happened to be in the house and coming back out stopped for a sec in the doorway and just watched my girls. How well they turned out even though their Mom and I were rank amateurs at parenting. A legacy a man can be damn proud of leaving.

I miss the family gatherings we used to have. Now that the older generations are gone & the BS of politics has poisoned relations w/the "D" members (their choice), and physical distance, yada yada-- there are no more Family Get-Togethers. At all.
