  • The new Ryzen laptop CPUs look perfect for mini-PCs. Soyo's S9 is the first NUC to appear using the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370. (Tom's Hardware)

Downside: Soldered RAM, but it will be available in 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB models.

Upside: With no DIMMs taking up space, it will have three M.2 slots.

Other side: It's not shipping yet; the review model was a pre-production unit with a couple of hardware issues.

It's not going to compete with an RTX 4090 - or even a 4070 - but if you are happy with 1080p medium settings, or you mostly play games that are a couple of years old, it does pretty well and the whole system runs on about 50W.

I'm hoping to see one of these that uses CAMM2 memory so it is upgradeable - these chips don't support regular DDR5 DIMMs - but this is a good start.

  • What's inside the Raspberry Pi Pico 2. (Tom's Hardware)

A good rundown of the new hardware and the options available - or soon to be available, since it's not shipping to end users yet.

Plus a couple of boards coming from Pimoroni, including one the exact same size and pinout as the standard Pi Pico 2 but with an extra 16MB of RAM.

  • Microsoft has scheduled a security summit for September 10 to discuss what it plans to do about those idiots at Crowdstrike. (Ars Technica)

Well, that's not how they worded it, but it's what they mean.

Clear distinction between a vaccine you force people to take regardless of their health and "experimental medicine" (I think it's called) for people who are out of approved options and willing to test something new.

9 Yesterday and early this morning we're having odd weather - about 25-30f below average for August which runs 95-103f average. And now it's showering - very light showers here in the valley - but it could be a drencher right over the mountain location where the Park Fire is burning.

It's an mRNA vaccine, which have skeptics

My wife took an early mRNA 'vaccine' for pneumonia, prior to the covid 'vaccine'. Side effect listed on informed consent literature was 'hostility'.

Hostility. Like the planet needs more of that.

Jimmy Webb wrote quite a few of the greatest songs ever. Glen Campbell seems to always had an early opportunity to record them, I guess it made sense for Webb to push them toward a name artist. Anyway, I've recently become enamored of a Webb/Campbell collaboration called, "Where's the playground, Susie" which is deceptive in naming. A very deeply moving nostalgia invoking tune.

Maybe it's conspiracy theorist on my part, but YouTube doesn't want to put the 'official' version on my playlist, but an 'in concert' version which sucks. Does YouTube do that to save them money?

He sounds sincere in what he hopes to achieve:

“This is a spiritual journey for me. I reached my decision through deep prayer, through hard-nosed logic, and I asked myself, what choices must I make to maximize my chances to save America's children and restore national health? I felt that if I refused this opportunity, I would not be able to look myself in the mirror, knowing that I could have saved the lives of countless children and reversed this country's chronic disease epidemic.

Is it a reaction against political correctness? Is it a deliberate playing into "toxic masculinity" tropes? Has leftwing discourse become too feminized?
I would have never imagined this happening 20 years ago.

But who are we kidding, in a real honest election Trump would win in a landslide.

55 Evening and morning to the far-flung outposts of the AoSHQ empire!

I watched Trump's rally last night on Newsmax after reading about RFK Jr.'s announcement here. Newsmax is such a breath of fresh air after the usual MSM lies and pro-Dem posturing, isn't it? And so was DJT, and RFK's short speech with him.

I have hope now that we will win this. And that I'll be able to retire this fall without worrying quite so much.

And it can't lose.

The people won't have as MUCH cancer, see? And they won't be as sick as they could've been if they didn't get the cancer vaccine. Their symptoms will be reduced.

Trump vs. Harris, by religion:

-

Ace posted a Don Lemon clip where he was trying to find black women who were going to vote for Harris, and he couldn't. The Lemon Party (see what I did there?) had full control of the video and the editing, and it was still full of black women saying they weren't voting for Harris. IIRC the only one that was borderline anti-Trump had said something like "I'm not enthusiastic about anyone."

One of the most damning was a lady admitting that she'd been voting based on skin color but was not going to do that any longer. Good for her for admitting it, though.

Posted by: Moron Robbie, Black Tik-Tok Influencer at August 24, 2024 06:11 AM (RBbp4)

59 And in any case: It's Saturday, I slept later than usual, I'm having some coffee, it ain't raining, and the cats and I are well. If we'd just have a little cooler weather, or even drier, I'd be happier than the proverbial porcine in the fecal matter.

True, I've got errands like a haircut and grocery run, and to wash the car, but! But! At least one small cloud has evaporated from my mind. Here's hoping the same has happened for all of you. It's not over until it's over . . . but maybe we have a chance now.

Talk about a Marvel team-up --! When as a kid I read the DC comics in their Silver Age, it was always neat to see two disparate characters, each with his own book, meet and work together, their skills and powers complementing each other. Superman and The Flash, for instance. This is kinda like that!

I may -- *may* -- nip over to CNN occasionally this week to see what hysterical gabble they are spouting. Of course Ace and the cobs will do that so we don't have to, though.

Doug Emhoff has been called many things in recent years: Second Gentleman. “Goofy dad.” “Crappy Jew.” But perhaps his most appropriate title: Progressive Sex Symbol.

It would be interesting to know if modern trends follow a similar but greatly sped up pattern. What used to last a year or two now lasts a couple of months.

And how that relates to increasing the speed of... not "maturity" because the kids aren't really maturing any faster, but I guess exposure to things that permanently strip their innocence from them so that "maturity" is the only word that sort of fits but is still completely wrong.

Man, a book of elephant jokes seems like a great thing.

Thanks. Problem is I can't put accents on vowels in the sock field. This one should be: Lo Spazio è infinito
and that is important to pronouncing l'Italiano correctly. I just realized that we say "Parli l'Italiano?" but "Parli la lingua Italiana?" One is masculine and the other feminine.

Even then the paperback houses could get something out on the racks very quickly. At the time of the June 1967 Mid-east War (was that the one called the Six-Day War?), I saw paperbacks analyzing it on the store racks within a couple of weeks. So it was not as if elephant jokes had been a thing for six months or a year before you could buy a collection of them.

They likely think domestic violence and hating your special-needs son (that your wife had when she was 40) is masculinity and that type of anger will resonate with white Trump voters.

I can't say that surprises me. Those that have religious faith understand that there is more to life than just materialistic things.

Marxism is essentially a Christian heresy in which the material "now" has to be distributed with mathematical precision in order to usher in "Heaven on Earth (tm)." Of course, somebody has to decide who gets what; that's where the "selfless elites" step-in to decide (all while skimming a bit off the top) how to redistribute wealth -- and killing those not onboard the Commie Utopia train.

Marxism masquerades as compassion for the poor, all while requiring the commission of the Sins of Pride, Envy, Theft, and Anger. If all you see are things, then you will treat people as things too.

Strength Through Joy (KdF) was established as a subsidiary of the German Labour Front on 27th November, 1933. It was an attempt to organize workers' leisure time rather than allow them to organize it for themselves, and therefore enable leisure to serve the interests of the government. Robert Ley claimed that "workers were to gain strength for their work by experiencing joy in their leisure". (1) The scheme has been described as "regimented leisure" and that Hitler deemed it "necessary to control not only the working hours but the leisure hours of the individual". (2)

Sure, we're too old to change the world, but what about that kid, sitting down, opening a book, right now, in a branch at the local library and finding drawings of pee-pees and wee-wees on the Cat in the Hat and the Five Chinese Brothers?

And that would be fine if his face didn't change to anger at 9 seconds in the video as he jerks his special-needs son like an animal and then return to his normal "downturned mouth expression" face.

(the video isn't nine seconds, the moment is at nine seconds)

The problem with governments and large organizations is that it doesn’t require conscious buy-in from the underlines for them to go bad; just the right amount of subtle direction from the top, and a culture that no one goes against orders or challenges Authority. There are now available once-daily oral meds which are effective at targeting and killing certain mutations of non-small cell lung cancer. Keytruda is one; Tagrisso is another. They are taken in lieu of chemo. And they work!

Aside from the fact that Harris was a failed candidate of epic proportion, this statement is eerily reminiscent of Biden telling that voter he didn't need his vote. (Excuse the overflow-discussion, folks)

Well, not really.

That not how a company operates.

As an example, if you're an engineer, how ofter does The Company ask you about how to run the HR department?

They don't. Same same.

If you're a chemist or in sales or an HR drone or a janitor, and esp if your dept. is working foot fungus meds or whatever, you have squat to say about vaccines, and even if you're in vaccines you may not be dealing with mRNA vaccines. You're probably not even working in the same building or state.

Were proper protocols followed for the mRNA vaccine?
Nope. But, did the decisions involve the whole company or the whole gov't or the voters before it was given the force of law?

Nope.

A small group of people in the right place with the right commitment pushed this through against protocol. Yep.
Does that mean we should lock everybody inside the nearest pharmaceutical building and burn it? Nope.
