Parallels

The DNC is wrapping up and the Harris-Walz campaign will now begin in earnest. The platform this year is as execrable as expected and the candidates surprise nobody. It was a star-studded show, of course, with both the current Resident taking the stage to bark at the moon and former president Obama being trotted out once again to try to hold things together.

The DNC has been - and will continue to be - covered by people much more attentive and interested than me. What strikes me is that, details aside, the Democrats appear to be running a sequel campaign. This all looks extremely familiar in its broad strokes. This looks like a repeat of 2008 playbook. We have another Obama and Biden on our hands, just dingier and a bit tired. Whether this out-of-time sequel ends up performing like "Ghostbusters (2016)" or "Top Gun: Maverick," however, remains to be seen.

Am I seeing something that isn't there? Because it feels like I'm taking crazy pills. This campaign is looking like a rerun of 2008, especially through the Party automata at the top of the ticket. Harris is Obama and Walz, especially, is Biden. We've already seen this movie. Walz' selection looks to me like it came directly out of the 2008 playbook. We have a non-white communist at the top of the ticket, so get a boring old white guy to act as a counterweight and blend into the background. Also, make sure he's an unlikable, unaccomplished and combative liar who nobody would want in the big chair. It isn't the same in all or even most of the particulars, but the broad strokes look pretty similar, especially with regard to the candidates.

Of course, this is not Hollywood or Madison Avenue. This is Washington, and the normal rules don't apply. If this year does indeed rhyme with 2008, however, we can look forward to a Walz Administration in 2036.

21 Been talking about this for a while, but I wanted to get my thoughts out. Trump can cut a lot of the bloat in the executive branch's many cabinet departments, many of which are staffed by loyal leftists who undermined him in his first term.

You'll never find enough loyal GOP people to fill those offices. The solution? Fire them and start consolidating.

The State Dpt handles all foreign relations. We need a Domestic Affairs Dpt that does that for local matters. One Sec of Domestic Affairs, with a few undersecs with delegated jobs, each with small staffs under them.

The Sec of Domestic Affairs, could oversee matters of Interior, Energy, Treasury, HHS. Cut things like Dpt of Education entirely. Fold the responsibilities of the other departments into SDA and fire redundancy staffs.

Make the President's Cabinet Efficient Again (if it ever was): State, Defense, Domestic Affairs, and Attorney General. That's it. Just four people who report to the President.

DEM : 1,088,671 - 42% of vote

Early Voting -
GOP : 963,397 - 53% of vote

Election Day Voting -
GOP : 556,194 - 69% of vote
DEM : 252,179 - 31% of vote

The enthusiasm for Harris/Walz simply isn't visible in actual votes cast. Election day voting by Democrats on the day after Biden's fairwell address was horrible.

Also Rasmussen got a Trump +10 in yesterday's polling, which they are calling an outlier.

Rassmussen is a rolling series that averages over several days and it is possible to get an out of whack sample on one day that affects their rolling averages.

That being said, even the media can't make Kamala the exciting fresh new candidate that Obama was in 2008. This county is 16 years past that time and Obama winning did not change much of anything and Biden was worse.

Nope. Not anymore. There is still a balance control - both the new Win10 style (L and R volume controls) and the old pre-Win10 style (an L/R slider) - but it doesn't do anything. Move one slider and the other is bound to it and moves the same way by the same amount. No override that I can find.

They replaced the balance control with a complicated volume control that does literally nothing.

Part of it is generational turnover, Millennials are no longer cool for school and the Dems are trying and failing to recruit the newer generations to sign on. Even before the convention, Trump is doing historically well with Gen Z in polling compared to a generic GOP candidate with the youth vote.

GOP officeholders are by and large still stuck in the Bush years of the chamber of commerce era because of encrusted big donors and their minions in the GOP campaign and party organizations.

It's more the "and you get nothing" than it is the shitting. Men can handle a *lot* of getting shit on. It's what they've done for millennia and there is nothing new about it.

But they used to get something in return, namely wives (and by extension, children) and honor. Now they get neither. That's a serious problem.

"Get shit on and nothing else" is a losing proposition, because they won't comply. They will either check out and quit producing anything for you (that's what's happening now) or they will find a better deal with whoever comes in to conquer your weak ass (that's what happens next) or they decide to make a better deal for themselves by conquering you from within (I think that's least likely).

That’s unfair. IVF is used and has been used by women who for whatever reason can’t conceive the natural way. As I said above I know couples who did this. It costs a fortune too. Nobody wants IVF, it’s the last option for people.

My wife and I considered it as well but luckily the old fashioned way finally worked.

Trying something new could be dangerous.

The candidate at the top of the ticket now is far less compelling and likable on the surface than Obama. The backstory of the first black president whose would allow us to move on from racial strife isn't in play.

I happened to see Obama speak in person pretty early on, March 2008. He was actually pretty good; he came off as a moderate Democrat at face value. He didn't even really go after Bush too much, he explained why he would be different. Kamala has far more baggage, a horrific track record, and far less appeal to voters who are undecided.

I was leery of Obama, of course and would never vote for him but remember thinking, "He sounds like a rational politician and person." Again, Kamala with her word salad and radical background that is far more obvious and obnoxious than that of Obama?

Don't get me wrong, I think she has a very good shot at winning. But the media, despite their insane hypocrisy and dishonesty, will have a harder time carrying her over the finish line.

Like Sonny Corleone, when negotiating with Solozzo in The Godfather novel, she needs to "...stick to the obvious, much the best course for her."

Who said anything about rare? Tons of couples can’t conceive. IVF is a viable option for them. I went through it for a while. My wife and I tried for about a year, nada. Saw fertility specialists tried different things, still nada. We started looking at IVF and then boom pregnant!! But we were ready to go IVF.

This happens a lot more than you think. It’s just not something people like to talk about since it’s not a fun topic.

The pediatric association stated that breast tissue in females goes through has four distinct periods:

2. puberty
3. at early pregnancy
4. milk production

It's when something goes wrong between steps 3 and 4 that cell changes may occur that weaken cells. Abortion occurs between steps 3 and step 4. For that reason alone females should avoid it like the plague.

RFK is a very good plaintiff lawyer, he has to be to do what he has done on vaccine injuries. He has a nasty tendency to vamp to overawe his audience, but that is "summation mode" problems, I think.
