SAD (In the blue)
Elisabeth had a tragic destiny. After divorcing from her first husband, the diplomat and count Jean de Forceville, she married Alfred Émile Denfert Rochereau, whom she later divorced as well. In 1987, during an exhibition of the São Paulo Museum of Art collection in the Fondation Pierre Gianadda in Martigny, Switzerland, Elisabeth's nephew, Jean de Monbrison, wrote a letter to the museum reporting her sad end: although she was converted to Catholicism at a young age, she was sent to Auschwitz because of her Jewish descent and died on the way to the concentration camp in March 1944, aged 69. Ah, yeah, that's not gonna fly. Two different things.
It's outrageous in one sense (i.e. normal people thinking normally) but in another sense, it's just a lawyer doing what lawyers do -- trying to protect his client's interest in any way he can. In a practical sense, "The Law" is whatever a lawyer can convince a judge to go along with. Posted by: Oddbob at August 15, 2024 10:15 AM (/y8xj) 134
Sargon:
The worst thing about every single person who considers themselves as "liberal" or "left wing" is that they are raging against the very soul of humanity with no understanding of what it is they are vanquishing with every step they take. It's so embedded in everything they do it is invisible to them, beyond their comprehension, absurd to even contemplate. It's just babble, to them, to speak of honour, heroism, sacrifice. It's been observed for a long time, but we're reaching the true reification of this paradigm now. These people cannot think or speak of anything other than negation, impulse, and a kind of grasping immediacy that makes them seem at once ludicrous, unsensible and, when viewed from a certain perspective, the terrible footsoldiers of a world order that will destroy the very spirit of man--indeed, they themselves have had their own spirits torn from them before they were even able to properly spell their own names. They were baked into a uniform human type, with uniform lifeless terminology, so that they communicate with each other like ants. No extraneous information is transmitted, just the base material of communication alone. The party’s about to end for Kamala. All the internals are turning the other way. Expect a slight convention bump in the fake polling, then the crash. This price control proposal is showing people what she will do. The videos of her speaking about her radical agenda, combined with the last 3 1/2 years of destruction can’t be avoided. No matter how much the MSM tries to cover for her, people are living it. They know it. They see Kamala speaking about what she believes. In particular, her economic destruction will be her end. Following that her oversight of the border invasion and crazy new green deal, anti fracking/energy belief will destroy her in key states.
By the way, the GOP also had a target of recruiting 100,000 poll watchers and monitors. They are now over 157,000 and counting. Posted by: Vengeance at August 15, 2024 10:19 AM (gKnvo) 153

I like this. The little girls with their child's skin tones and their poses are so natural. And the way he includes the how young they are is both realistic, such as their stockings starting to fall down, holding hands, and the smaller one with her grip on the sash. But its the way that Renoir executes their dresses (it's titled pink and blue, not two little girls) and the hanging in the background that catches my eye. The Impressionist ability to create an overall image from disparate application of color is always interesting.

143 re the Disney arbitration thing.
But then again, I'm not a lawyer, so I can't twist words into multi-dimensional knots. Posted by: From about That Time --------- The courts both federal and state have been pushing arbitration etc. for awhile partly to reduce court backlogs. So, they have been relatively lenient in allowing corporations to impose these requirements on whoever agrees (usually via click through verbiage) to require arbitration first. But, this would be a stretch to apply a Disney+ click through agreement to a food poisoning case at DisneyWorld and the courts are probably going to slap Devil Mouse down for it. But it buys time and a lot of times, aggressive lawyering in delay, delay, delay, ends up benefiting the corporation. Don't know about now but WalMart used to be notorious for refusing to settle slip and fall type cases and going to all lengths to litigate those cases including appeal after appeal. From a cost benefit analysis, corporations often think paying lawyers is cheaper than a bad settlement. But, ain't gonna help people choosing to go to Devil Mouse theme parks. Sometimes the right thing to do is advantageous to the entire corporation PR. Posted by: whig at August 15, 2024 10:28 AM (kW+z9) 197

The other day I happened to tell the clerk at the coffee place, "Nice to see some slim people," meaning her. It was a compliment, understand. Today, the manager stopped me as I was leaving and told me that one of the clerks was very offended at what I said. I replied, "That's not my problem. She should not have been eavesdropping. Camela la’s proposal is Medicare for “all”. That means forcing people off their private insurance and into a Post Office version of healthcare in which you are required to participate. We call this communism, that is where you force people into communal activities where every participant pays for the others. Including those who don’t pay on at all. Camela’s proposal also covers all people. Read illegal immigrants. By the way, that is a theme throughout her “economic” proposals including Soviet style price controls that she will announce on Friday. That follows three years of destruction from Bidenomics, which she apparently helped design and has resulted in historic inflation.

Think about it. $5 billion in NYC alone spent on illegal immigrants when a lot of people are having trouble putting food on the table. That’s money meant for the citizens and is worsening inflation, amplifying the housing shortage, hurting the job market and destroying access to healthcare for our citizens. It’s raiding our social services and stealing resources from our children’s education. All for the Democrats illegal immigration gambit.

He gets clips and stuff that's completely embargoed in American cable media. You all, China is F'ed worse than you think. That's what makes our elites sucking up to them so pathetic. It's like sucking up to the Ottoman Empire in 1910. Posted by: People's Hippo Voice ======= Very old in Chinese culture is disguising weakness and pretending to be strong. Same as producing a very good product at first to hook the buyer and then degrading quality bit by bit to make more money which our merchants trading with them in the 1800's noticed. Their debt load is worse than ours at approximately 300 percent of GDP and an aging population as the one child policy has crashed population growth. All that being said, any country with nukes and their sheer number of conventional arms can make it awfully unpleasant for Uncle Sam and allies in Asia. "Red and yellow, black and white" is from "Jesus Loves The Little Children," a latter-day rewrite of the Civil War anthem Tramp, Tramp, Tramp. It was re-lyriced earlier by the Military Order of The Carabao as "Damn The Insurrectos," containing the once-frequently quoted line "Underneath the starry flag, civilize 'em with a Krag." Jesus and his many-colored children came a generation later, a real Rodeheaver of a hymn.

Manager Lady: "But it is a problem. See, we are all sizes here. . . ."
Me: "Again, not my problem. Instead of being offended, perhaps your clerk should look into an exercise program." Manager Lady: "Then we have to ask you not to come back to this location again." Me: "Fine with me." I need to be OUT of this place. . . .
