@10/12, Publius:
Try laying on the ground to see if that helps reduce motion. Another idea, use the edge of a picnic table to balance one of the bottom edges of the camera, that might also help. Tripod is a good idea, so is a remote shutter release if you're doing manual exposures rather than using the timer. Both will significantly help with reducing vibration to the camera. AI PCs accounted for 14% of all sales in Q2 2024. (Reuters)
An AI PC is a PC with an AI sticker on it. - hahaha Yeah, "AI PC" meaning something that can bring up a browser and log in to ChatGPT or ask a browser company's AI a question in a search query, maybe. Assuming only still image creation, AI PCs start at what, 12GB+ VRAM requirements? Meaning $500 4060ti video cards for desktops or 4080 cards in $2000+ laptops, just to make a 512x512 image with outdated tech to then upscale after creation. And that doesn't even begin to get into the installation of python and all the other background/core requirements to run the programs to start making images on-site. Folks can't figure out Linux Mint. They're sure not going to start working out the kinks of a local Stable Diffusion installation. - residents WERE shot, and that's where I'm torn on the whole thing. They were women, and Antifa type women at that, meaning they cheerfully voted in those jackboots and likely cheered the assaulting of anyone who tried to warn them of the dangers of their wrong-headed thinking. So part of me found the video of the cop saying "LIGHT 'EM UP!" and then the women fleeing indoors before complaining about how much it hurt to be very enjoyable. @44/Ciampino: Yup, as suspected, read further: Points 8 and 9 break it out further. It's the large 50 page brick about OnStar they give you after you've completed the purchase, implying that it's still part of that process and not something separate and optional.
And ... I can't cut and paste out of this PDF. Either it's image-only (no underlying text, doubtful) or the Texas Attorney General's office has copy protected what is an inherently public document - a legal filing. *sighs* Posted by: Grumpy and Recalcitrant at August 14, 2024 05:22 AM (O7YUW) 66
hahaha, reading the "AI PC" article, it really is just "this computer has a sticker on it":

The tech giant debuted its "Copilot+" AI PCs in May, with Qualcomm's (QCOM.O), opens new tab Snapdragon PC chips based on Arm Holdings' architecture." No heliacal rising of Sirius for me, thick clouds coming back in just over the horizon. Note "heliacal rising" is when a star first appears just over the eastern horizon before sunrise. Helical setting is when a star (or other object) is just visible to the west after sunset. "achronycal rising/setting" is when a star/object rises just after sunset and sets just before sunrise. This latter definitions can vary a bit. But that's the proper definitions. Posted by: publius, Rascally Mr. Miley (w6EFb) at August 14, 2024 05:25 AM (w6EFb) 70

@66/Moron Robbie:
This "AI" nonsense bubble can't pop soon enough. The LLMs kick out factual errors while the statements sound authoritatively truthful. This will eventually bite companies that rely on them in the arse, hard. There's already been a lawyer who got caught by a judge using an LLM in a legal filing, and he had to apologize profusely and promise the judge he would manually review every statement in future filings (if he chose to use LLMs) or face potential disbarment. Air Canada got burned by this when the advice its chatbot gave to customers was wrong, and the courts held them liable for this. Your agent, human or chatbot, gave advice to customers who followed it and suffered losses. You're liable for that. Air Canada: No way! Legal system: Yes way. https://tinyurl.com/4c8xdy5r Posted by: Grumpy and Recalcitrant at August 14, 2024 05:37 AM (O7YUW) 75

Maybe I'll watch a classic B & W movie on YooToob tonight. I lucked out on Sunday and found Joan Crawford and Jack Palance in Sudden Fear from 1952. Joan plays an heiress who is also a successful playwright. An actor dismissed from her latest play turns out to be charming, and they fall in love and get married. When Gloria Grahame his old girlfriend appears, we find he's a rat after Joan's money -- and it's fine with him if she has an "accident."
Palance is very convincing both in the early romantic scenes and later as an aspiring murderer; the solid Crawford wisely does not try to appear younger than she is; and Gloria Grahame, with a charming bit of baby-talk lisp, is remarkably hot. Good tense flick. Posted by: Wolfus Aurelius, Dreaming of Elsewhere at August 14, 2024 05:56 AM (omVj0) Posted by: FenelonSpoke at August 14, 2024 05:57 AM (RsKff) 86

- TV commercials (google maybe?) are outright advertising that kids should use it to write their term papers. We're already an extremely ignorant population, and there's now a purposeful push to make it even worse. Remember the optimistic outlook of the 90s when all of the knowledge in the world was opening up to everyone in their office (and soon the palm of their hand)?
